YWS Poems to Read

Hey all.

I'm just going to make this so I can put poems up every once in a while that I think are interesting or important to read. Basically if I end up actually liking it, it might end up here.

Please put up YWS poems you think other YWSers should read too. Do not put up your own poems.

I just read This Old Man @Purple's poem about his/her dad. It was really touching and hard to ignore. She/he did a great job of getting details into the poem like the cracked hands which open up the poem. It really reminds me of Theodore Roethke's poem, "My Papa's Waltz" with a combination of "Those Winter Sundays" by Robert Hayden. This one just took a darker twist to the whole fatherly love thing.

Empty House/Men Like Candles is by @persy

She is talented and worked hard at writing poetry. This one in particular has more emotion in it then I've ever seen a poem have

My Body is Not Poetry by @vitamere and Darwin by @Adnamarine. Such beautiful pieces.

The Thoughts of a Used Juice Box by @megsug is one of the poems that I've loved for a long time now. I found it when this shy creature happened across my Poetry Exchange and it just enthrawled me with the creative, innovative, unique and powerful metaphor.

The Overlooked and Underestimated by @Isha is amazing. Like, really really amazing. (trigger warning)

I really liked Seven signs of insanity by @Pompadour (and everything else she writes).

This poem tracing bedsheets by @verymaryanna is beautiful. The use of alliteration, refrains, and symbolism is something quite unique. It flows very well and reads like a charm.

His style is smooth and sweet and it allows you to analyze beyond author's intention, which is rare and beautiful.

It's a really well written poem.

Deep Sea Darling is by @soundofmind.
This is an amazing lyrical poem and it also has a recording of soundofmind singing it! It's in the Literary Spotlight right now too.

I recently read this poem: let me be hope by @CoffeeCat and it is one of my favorites I've read this month!

Really interesting read, with some neat contrasting water/sky imagery and word choice that'll take you on twists and turns. Definitely worth the read and taking an attempt at deciphering! Check it out if you have a chance!
