"I was reading this amazing story yesterday. It had absolutely no context, yet it made sense."
"What do you mean?"
"The writer didn't care to explain who was talking to whom, how were they related, even their genders! And yet, it didn't matter."
"So what was special about the story? The plot, the twist, the metaphor?"
"Nothing. It was just a conversation, like you and me, having this conversation right now. For a change, it felt good to read and not worry about the consequences."
"But that achieves nothing. Why would you read such a story?"
"Maybe that's what was different. It didn't bother to burden me with the characters. The conversation, meaningless as it may be, kept me hooked till the last sentence. Why don't you write something similar?"
"Why would I do that?"
"The best kind of magic is no magic at all. The secret lies in front of people but it's too simple to be noticed. Maybe you can write about us without mentioning who we are."
"Are you scared people will find out who we are?"
"A part of me wants to show the people it's these labels that make you look at the same emotions and judge them accordingly. People suffer because society shuns them and they end up becoming a part of the society to shun someone else."
"We've had this conversation so many times. It never leads to anything. What's even the point of having it?"
"Nothing! I just wanted to talk to you."

Hi rudrAbhinav,

Mailice here with a short review!
I must honestly say that the story was oddly satisfying. Something about it reminded me of plays and at the same time of short sketches that you can probably find on the internet. Despite the actually meaningless conversation, you create something as if you were trying to relieve stress.
What I like most about the story is the simplicity with which you arrive here and, as one of the characters has already correctly pointed out, there is no idea who is talking, what their relationship is, or what gender they are. That's not important here either. The effect that tends to come out here is that you talk to someone to see each other and just feel comfortable. Perhaps a brief hint that one should go more often to someone where one feels comfortable? Or another hint that this conversation could be on a mobile phone, but here it is in person and face to face?
I don't think it's necessary to go into depth to figure out what you're trying to achieve. You do it with the first paragraph, which talks about what the first protagonist has read. As a reader, you think to yourself that you now have to read on to find out what the character has read, but in the end it doesn't come to anything. So you're actually using a "title" to entice the reader to read more. I think that was an effective device, similar to what newspapers do with headlines.
I'm afraid I don't have anything where I can sort of say I have something on exposure. I liked the plot, which was quite easy to digest for a change (if you can say that about it at all) and how everything just builds up to the comment at the end that you just wanted to talk. You don't always have to speak to show something or anything else, but you can also simply speak to communicate with each other. I liked that very much here.
Have fun writing,
Mailice
Hey there! Good morning/ afternoon/ evening/ night/ or whenever it is in your corner of the world! Wren here for a little review!
I love this short story! It’s engaging and interesting, and even has a little humor to it. I really enjoyed the part about the magic. I thought the reference to labels was really good here! I loved how you mentioned the cycle of people shunning someone to that person being the one to shun someone.
Great job, keep up the good work!
Hello!
RandomTalks here with a short review!
There is something about this story that really speaks to the reader. It is only a simple everyday conversation about some topic between two random people who can be anyone in the world. And yet, it's abstract nature is it's very beauty. I like how we know nothing about these characters, their lives or their problems, and yet we are pulled into their conversation and we are able to relate with them. The concept itself is very interesting, and I really enjoyed reading this story.
I have feeling that one of them is a writer because they talk about characters, and yes, that makes me wonder if it had been taken from a real life experience. Maybe that is why it is also so very relatable for me and every other person in the world who writes. I can imagine myself having this conversation as I ponder over characters and their backgrounds. I think you have achieved something beautiful with this story by making so many people across the world relate to it.
The "how were they related" will become "how they were related". Otherwise this becomes a question, which it is not.
I also agree with Forever. The part about society shunning people and people shunning each other feels like a part of a different conversation that does not match the simple tone of this one. It is a great line, but I feel like it does not belong in this story.
That's all. Keep writing and have a great day!
Heyyy!! Forever here for a short review!
Wasn't this written on a real life experience? The writing actually makes me think of that because it's so relatable. Your text, though it doesn't have any plot, nothing at all kept me reading until the end. It's just oblivion about everything and I love that. It was pretty cool to read this piece. You managed to highlight how simple things can be highly entertaining.
This part actually feels a bit seperated from the rest of piece. The rest was very very simple but this part is obviously a bit complex including society. I shouldn't tell that it is bad. It's a great and bitter truth. It's completely upto you whether to keep it or not. I just pointed that out.
Overall, it was a great read. Simple but stupendous. I would be pleased if you lemme know if it was helpful or not. If you have anu questions, feel free to ask.
Keep writing!!
~Forever
Hello, rudrAbhinav! I found this quite an interesting conversation. I've never thought about writing this way before.
While I was reading through the first paragraph, I realized, I know what you're doing here. You're writing about people having a conversation about what you're writing. I don't know where you got this idea from, but for whoever made it up, it was a stroke of genius! (Which, I'm guessing, might be you.)
I would like to see where this conversation could take me, and I would love to see more of these two friends' conversations.
(This doesn't really qualify as art, by the way. You might want to reclassify it. I think you can do that by going to the Publishing Center.)
Truly, Miecz
Uh, RudrAbhinav, I see a story and not art here. Please repost this and re-classify.
Sincere apologies
