The two could talk for ages.

About anything and nothing all at once.

Their conversations had no real beginning or end,

They just blurted the next thought that crept into their minds.

How rare is that?

To find someone to express yourself to in a way so easily that it feels like breathing?

The topics would range from exes to their faith,

And even dreams they never dared to share with anyone else.

No, their conversations were never boring.

They laughed.

They smiled.

They were silent sometimes.

And the silence was never uncomfortable.

There was a certain peace,

A certain contentment in just being.

How rare is that?

I really loved this because it captured something that’s honestly so rare but also so simple that people forget to talk about it. The way you describe two people who can just talk about anything and nothing and it still feels full made it feel really real to me. I especially liked the line about conversations not having a beginning or end and just blurting the next thought that comes to mind, because that’s exactly what it feels like when you find someone you’re truly comfortable with. And the part about the silence never being uncomfortable was probably my favorite, because that kind of peace with someone is way deeper than just talking a lot. It made the connection between them feel calm and genuine instead of dramatic, which I think makes it even more powerful. Honestly this made me think about how rare it actually is to find someone where being with them just feels as easy as breathing, and I love that you captured that so quietly and beautifully.

hello!!

i think this is a really lovely piece, and there's a genuine warmth to it that i notice feels lived-in rather than performed, like it came from a real place, about real people, and that honesty carries.

the way the conversation's described as having no real beginning or end evokes that specific kind of closeness that's hard to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it, where time just disappears - i felt that, and it is a very relatable feeling.

in particular, the silence stanza is quite beautiful—"the silence was never uncomfortable" is quietly perfect, and it captures something most people recognise immediately but rarely see written down so simply. "How rare is that?" earns its repetition too - it lands differently the second time, fuller somehow, if that makes any sense.

the whole poem left me with a kind of gentle ache, the kind of feeling of appreciating something precious while you're still inside it.

i think the one thing worth exploring is finding one small specific detail to anchor it, but honestly the feeling is already completely there, and that's possibly the hardest part, and it's one you express really well!

great work :D!

I love how you make it so easily relatable. At some point in everyone’s life we experience this, or at least we hope to. Just like you reiterate, “how rare is that?” Also good job conveying the emotion of the poem. There’s a certain calmness I get from reading this that’s easy to appreciate.

Heyyy :)
Your poem quiet nicely captures that feeling idk, where you are at your utmost vulnerable but don't feel so- "And even dreams they never dared to share with anyone else"

The poem itself has that comfort feeling, just like when you are talking to the person, which captivates the readers from the very starting.

What most captivated my eye was the line- "And the silence was never uncomfortable". It really resonated with me somehow and enhances your poem throughout

Now I might be wrong, but when I first started reading, I saw the word "blurted"
It got me confused on whether we were talking about some crush or the friendship theme that the poem has. The word usage could have been intentional, which would have added to the poem's charm

For writing critique and poetic devices, I am of no use, because I don't write poems or read them usually (Although being on YWS has made me do so)

But it is a lovely poem.

Hi! Thank you for your review and kind words! I did love your comment about the word blurted because I%u2019m honestly not satisfied you that word choice lol. To clear up confusion, I wasn%u2019t following any specific theme. It was more how people can have great conversations in either a platonic sense or romantic one!
