Hall of 100 Mirrors

I walk down the Hall
Of one hundred mirrors.
In each one I see
a different face
staring back at me
even though they're all the same
In one,who I was
In another, who I am
In many more, my secret hopes, dreams, and wishes
of everything I could have been
Everything I could be.
I see a bit of everything
Not even I
can quite comprehend
The faces staring back at me
And they're all mine

First of all: I AM SO SORRY. Like, you probably (happily) forgot about this poem's existence. Or maybe you didn't. But... here we both are. Both middle-aged people reminiscing about an old poem that you wrote when we were both teenagers.

Anyway!

My teenage self would have loved this poem because the whole idea of staring at mirrors at the same face, but all different. It's a creepy idea that I absolutely adore. Heck, I've used this image just recently in one of my own stories (where the protagonist looks at himself through a thousand different mirrors and sees his face in them) because it's such a totally cool image.

One thing that I would like to bring up is that this poem is even cooler now because we are so friggin' old. Like, we have even more faces than we did before because we've grown up. Instead of having the potential to do things, we now can do things. Instead of wondering who we will be, we have a pretty good idea (hopefully!) of who we will be. And now we are wiser too... we understand that we still want to be many things and we still have potential, all the while being slightly more capable than we were as teens.

Anyway. Now that you are better at poetry, I am almost tempted to suggest that you rewrite this poem... but with your current perspective. Because like. That would be awesome. You have the neat imagery (mirrors!) and the strangeness of seeing yourself in various forms, which is an awesome idea. Now... what would this poem look like now? :D

Lmao I forgot I unhid this, I think because I was talking about it in a pad? But like this was the first poem I ever wrote for non-school reasons and I have a sort of probably-misplaced affection for it. And I actually did do a callback poem to this a few years ago! Though it is a bit weak as well lol Reflections of What I Might Have Become

Ooooo... I might have to check this out now!

(Continuation) I liked how this was not the "typical" poem where every line or every other line rhymes. I like how it is a narratives of sorts where it tells abut of a story. The title alone caught my eye immediately so kudos for drawing me in so simply. I look foward to reading more from you

A few grammatical errors nuntheless well done. Rather catchy and the lines seemed to have meaning and ring true.

I walk down the Hall
Of one hundred mirrors.
In each one I see
a different face
staring back at me
even though they're all the same
In one,who I was #BF0000 ">There needs to be a space between 'In one, who I was.'
In another, who I am
In many more, my secret hopes, dreams, and wishes #FF0000 ">Think about making the In many more and My secret hopes, dreams, and wishes into different lines.
of everything I could have been
Everything I could be.
I see a bit of everything
Not even I
can quite comprehend
The faces staring back at me
And they're all mine
#FF0000 ">This last line seemed a bit out of place to me for some reason. Though it was still quite good.

Excellent job, all together. :)

I walk down the Hall of one hundred mirrors.

In each one I see a different face

staring back at me add a comma here

even though they're all the same add a period here.

In one, who I was

In another, who I am

In many more, my secret hopes, dreams, and wishes add a period here

of e Everything I could have been

Everything I could be.

I see a bit of everything

Not even I can quite comprehend

The faces staring back at me add a comma here

(Extra space for dramatic purposes)
And they're all mine

I enjoyed this poem. As you can see I've reworked your structure a little bit.
Great job, good luck, and keep writing.

Yeah, overall I like it, but the second line, don't repeat hall. Maybe write, "Of a 100 mirrors" taking out hall just makes it flow better and just roll right off the tongue. The subject was great, and it really made me think. :thumb:

I love this, it really makes me think. I agree with Mesh, don't repeat "hall" in the second line. I would probably do something like "I walk down/the Hall of 100 Mirrors". But it's your poem, entirely up to you.
Overall, it was very good, nicely written, with a cool subject. Kudos!
