My love,
I had to put you down below,
Where the fireflies don't glow
Lower than the miners go,
Darker than the mind of Poe.
And I know you must be lonely
Only with the worms to hold thee
Slowly withering and calling
Every day for me to join
You, my love.
But don't be cruel, my love
You know I'm such a fool
And I'd come through, my love
And lay right next to you.
And we'd both rot, down below
Where the fireflies don't glow
With death knocking at the door
I would answer, 'cause I know
That I'm with you, my love.

Incredible and emotional piece. I through of a song when I read the title, but it turned out to be very different than that. Honestly, I loved the tone to this poem. It's clear you put a lot of work in this. It's an amazing work. Definitely keep up the good work.
Shivers down my spine! I really love creepy poems, and this one got the mood just right. It was titled Funeral Music, so I was wondering if this was a song. I imagined it that way while I was reading it. I really liked the rhythm of it, and how everything flowed so well. Some of the rhymes as the beginning seemed a bit forced, but it wasn't very noticeable. Great job!
Oh my God!! It's a very emotional poem. The flow of emotions and feelings is good. And then encouraging your Love, it's amazing. The poem is engaging from the start till the end. The punctuation marks have been used correctly. The use of plain words and sentences makes the poem very attractive and understandable. You have done a really good job. Keep it up. Have a good upcoming time
Mahvash.
oh and yeah! The title is actually fairly nice lol
Hello,
First off this is amazing, it pulls out these emotions buried in my heart. This story leaves so many questions that can be answered by the imagination of each reader. I really love how it starts with I had to put you down, first I thought it might be an animal, but as the story progresses I began thinking more along the lines of a beloved person. I'm not sure if the narrator has anything to do with the death or if he/she feels guilty for not being able to be with them at the moment.
the rawness of your writing is refreshing, people try to make death seem like a beautiful thing but in this light it is as it is, with the worms and rotting. I also like how you don't overuse the 'my love' but it is still an important component of the organization of the poem. Nothing is forced in this poem, it flows so well. I'm extremely mesmerized by your poem.
I really loved this piece.
Keep on doing what you're doing!!
love, becca
This is a fairly nice poem, you get your point across and your words flow. I love the poem!!!
I would try to add more descriptive words, I kind of feel like this review is like my others. But, I am trying to do my best. I love your layout, it flows and catches the reader's eyes.
I love where you made the comparison of the fireflies and Poe's mind. I feel like when you add things like that, things that the reader can relate to.. Well I feel like it just catches their mind, they think about those things and about your poem.
I also love how you added sayings that people have heard before like "Death knocking at the door"
( OMG I can't say enough good things about your poem right now. I can tell by reading it that you have written poetry before. I'm just gonna keep going with this review for your beautiful poem. )
I love how you used repetition to your advantage, you repeated the words "my love" Those few words, I feel like they tell the whole story. For example, when a I read the words
"You, my love.
But don't be cruel, my love
You know I'm such a fool
And I'd come through, my love
And lay right next to you.
And we'd both rot, down below
Where the fireflies don't glow"
That stanza made me infer that the person that is telling the poem is a heartbroken individual who just put a loved one in the ground. I love the poem! I swear it's like my favorite one so far. Honestly, I feel like The title didn't suit the work. I almost didn't read this poem because of it's title. Now I am glad I did.
Keep writing!
