Twin Blades Chapter 3 Nobody Is Perfect

Bryan climbed on the roof five minutes later  from the latter in the 3rd floor hallway. Kevin turned and noticed the look in his face.

Kevin asked "who?"

Bryan didn't want to answer, Kevin already knew what happened. Bryan and his dad the police commissioner went to help those who could still be saved, his dad got bit, and he had to kill his own dad. "Did you manage to save anyone?"

"No we failed everyone but me died or is deaf now."

"I'm hoping at least one casualty your talking about was or dumb mayor clucker."

Mayor clucker is a nickname they gave the mayor for looking and sounds like a chicken to match his cowardly personality.

"At least one casualty I don't have to regret, yes. I already know why you're here. Will your plan work?"

Kevin turned away "you know now nothing is ever certain." Kevin turned back trying not to make things worse he said "but if we make it through the first five days we will not have to worry about these undead ever again. My plan only promises safety to anyone who can make it to paradise."

"You make that almost sound like dying and going to heaven."

"When hell is full the dead shall walk the earth. A quote from a zombie movie I like. No paradise is not heaven, not the one I am talking about anyways. Remember how I said I discovered a new world?"

"Yes."

"I was ripping off Christopher Columbus, I think. I discovered a continent that has never been walked on by anyone before, at least until last month when I did." Kevin laughed. "I also had the resources needed to rebuild and repopulate all shipped to the Pacific just far enough to keep the island out of the horizon. If we make it to the aircraft carrier due to reach a navy base in Virginia a day before it's due to return I can promise anyone making it that far paradise where zombies will NEVER reach."

"So you're a prophet now?" Bryan said sarcastically and managing to smile.

"If that's what people want to call me sure. But I'm not a prophet and I will burn in hell for what I will do after everyone is safe. Don't ask what I mean I wouldn't tell you anyways. 5 days, if me or at the very least Lilly makes it to paradise we are all saved she is the only other person alive other than me who knows my plan and can guarantee safety, even if I die she can keep everything going. I won't let her die, but if I do she will be your last hope of survival."

Kevin turned to face her looking at her omni-phone he saw her scanning the city for distress signals and active omni-phones.

"How many Lilly?"

"Not many, I would expect a casualty of 1 cop for every two saved. Maybe worse, I don't think it's worth it, we have people who are trained with guns, these people won't be. Crooked cops or not these morons are more useful."

"Not really, technically these crooked cops are useful only for 5 days until we join my friend in the Atlantic. Citizens can build, children can grow and learn."

"Kevin I don't like what you're thinking, we need firepower sooner rather than later, and the more we get now the better."

"Lilly take Bryan and these morons" he pointed to the cops "and follow the plan out of the city until you see fit to save a city. I trust your judgement I really do, but I am just not able to leave knowing some are still alive here. Officer Ryan you stay with me, and the people I save. You won't die if you follow orders. If you don't you will probably be eaten alive regardless of where you go. Trust me, me and Bryan have had more than enough combat experience where nobody else survived. Lilly send me and Ryan the data and upgrade his phone to how advanced ours are then take as much ammo and such as these idiots can carry in their omni-boxes. Leave enough for Ryan to survive a close call though. I will rejoin you wherever I get the first opportunity, if I can't in five days tell general Jessica I'm on my way and to hold the ship in its current location unless she hears from me  by the end of the sixth day."

"But Kevin you might...." Lilly looked scared.

Kevin walked over hugged her and said "you know a bunch of wild animals can't lay a hand nail or tooth on me. I will see you soon I promise."

With that he told Ryan to wait on the roof and he would be back, then jumped over the ledge and started running for the closest dot when his omni-phone began blinking. "Lilly you know what I'm about to do I don't have much time until I reach the nearest dot, I love you little sister but please make it quick."

"You had better come or else, as for as for the first spot you mentioned it was twenty SOS signals just after you hopped the roof now it's one. I don't need to tell you what that means. I love you big brother, don't you dare die or I will bring you back and kill you myself."

"Thanks for the warning, keep those idiots in line. They know they have to obey you and Bryan or die. I love you sis and I will see you soon." Kevin pressed the end button and quietly slid to the corner where a horde was sure waiting around and drew a sword out of the omni-box on both sleeves."

He kneeled and did a prayer he made up in the war. "Lord guide this blade and let it fell many demons to guide the ones deserving to salvation." A swordmans prayer. He turned the corner in was horrified at the sight he saw.
