Him,
The man who brought me to this earth...
He's also the man who brings me hurt,
Father,
I love you, Can't you see?
That every time you lie, you lose a part of me
My pain, my sorrow, my fear, my stress
It all heightened when you left,
But the sad part is, when you were there,
You were still gone, no words to spare.
So all that time, I was alone
Searching for new ways to get myself stoned,
Because any feelings better then feeling alone.
Did you ever think about how I felt?
Alone on the streets?
Alone with no help?
Searching for someone to trust,
When really I could only trust myself?
And as for my brother,
You're no better!
I have to plead and beg just to get a jail letter,
You broke promise after promise, just like dad,
But you still try to convince me you're a better man.
Both of you are selfish,
You don't understand,
That while I was growing up, you were all I had.
So do you feel better now?
That I'm safe and warm?
Or do the same thoughts run through your head that ran through your head before?
Well thank God I'm strong,
I don't need your help,
You can just sit there and watch,
As I help myself out,
Grow up and go to college,
Buy my own house,
Take care of my kids,
Be a bit stressed out,
But see that's the difference between You and I,
I can deal with my stress,
I don't need weed and drugs,
To keep me content,
But know I still love you,
and you'll always be my dad,
But you sure taught me a lesson,
On how not to raise my kids,
So here's how I end it,
With a hug and a kiss,
And as I grow up,
I'll help you through this mess.

This poem really seems to not have been stemmed from random thought. It is emotionally intense, and quite relatable to many. It's a good work.
I can really relate to this poem, unfortunately. My dad left my mom when I was 13, so I was going through a lot of big changes in my life. Obviously his absence didn't really help.
But, I really did like how you ended it. There's a bit of forgiveness in "With a hug and a kiss,/ And as I grow up,/ I'll help you through this mess." which I really enjoyed! This is not something that you normally see in writings directed at fathers, and it was refreshing. It's like you've moved on and you're not letting your dad leaving get to you.
Please keep up the good work. This was very interesting and entertaining.
Thanks!! haha our situations are a bit different considering I didn't have my mom in my life... so I ended up living with my aunt and uncle.. but im glad I have someone who can relate!
This poem was truly sad. I cannot relate to it at all because I am growing up in a house full of love, but I know many people out there who can. It is sad and you have struck point to a lot of feelings that kids and adults feel these days. I really like how in the end you said:
But you sure taught me a lesson,
On how not to raise my kids,
This part was really inspiring that you would learn from your father's mistakes. I also really liked how you still love your father even after everything he put you through.
Great work! All the best,
Fire
thanks!!!!
