Castel series chapter 1

A chopper was the only thing for miles in the wasteland. Hovering over a dead sea of dust with absolutely no water or food for miles. The chopper was heavily armed with several missiles and a mini gun attached. After what seemed years of flying over hundreds of miles the chopper finally landed on a plateau and at the top of the plateau was a small castle.

The castle was old yet small. About 500 by 500 feet tall and wide. It was made out of total stone except for a small wooden flag with a circle and a “C” in the middle of the circle. The castle was a single room. A giant room that took up the entire castle with a large whole at the very top. Despite the eroding the wind could cause. The stone appeared to be solid and unharmed.

When the chopper stopped fully a tall and dark figure stepped out with dark olive green eyes. He was thrown two small machine guns in which he handled masterfully, twirling them around twice and putting them in his pockets. The man was also handed a small pistle and a large samara sward that he attached to his back.

The man grinned widely and started to move for the door. He opened it slowly and than silently walked in to the dark cassum. When he slowly looked up he found the target of his mission. An enormous staircase that was platued at the tip. At this tip there lay a small book.

Suddenly there was a loud bang as the open door swung shut. The man turned around swiftly and warily walked forward.

Than when the man looked forward he saw hundreds perhaps even thousands of glowing silver eyes staring at him. Each beast looked rather human except for the fact that each were completely covered in slimy black scales with six fingers on each hand. Each finger had nails like needles. The creature had giant fangs and silver eyes. The beasts bared their teeth and trekked forward on two feet.

The man grin wickedly “and so it begins” He immediately raises his two small automatic machine guns. He pulled the triggers as bullets flew from his weapons.

The beasts leached forward moving in to a sprint. Many dropped down to all fours while others ran on just two. Many of the bullets fell true cutting through the ranks of the beasts.

A large pile of empty bullet shells began to gather at his feet. He didn’t once let his fingers off the trigger until the beasts got to close range. One thing jumped faster than humanly possible at the man. In response he almost lazily his gun and fired at the beast making it drop to the ground, not moving.

The man continued the routine shut and swiftly dodging the constant swipes until he finally ran out of ammo. When the man threw his guns on the ground he lept forward in to the center of the attacking force and brought out his pistle.

The man moved and killed almost gracefully with perfect form. He would lurch forward and shoot only if the creature was at point blank range. The man had created an enormous hole in the middle of the attack force. But now he was being attacked from all angels. He dropped to the ground to avoid a flying beast. He quickly stood up as one tackled him and pinned him. They started to swarm on him.

The man quickly picked up his walkie-talkie and spoke in franticly while trying to push beasts off of him. “uhhhhh hustin we have a problem I request immediate back up if you please”. The beasts were about to finish off the man when suddenly they heard a loud buzzing. The helicopter suddenly appeared in the hole at the top of the castle.

“roger that sir, we’ll bring the rain” The helicopter immediately started firing from its mini gun. Hundreds of the beasts dropped to the ground impaired by the oncoming onslaught. The man calmly got up and looked in his pistle.

“shit one bullet left” he thought. He heard a loud grunt and grinned. He jumped up and turned in mid air to put the bullet between the beast’s eyes.

When he turned around he saw the staircase. But he also saw hundreds of beasts on it waiting for him to approach. Behind the man dozens of beasts got up with missing arms and portions of there bodies and heads blown off. The man laughed giddily as he took out his sward and proceeded up the stairs swiftly. He was no longer graceful, but killed grizzly. He hacked and slashed and cut off beast’s head. Swinging this way and that, slicing arms and legs stabbing fearsly. He was killing the last defender of the book and in the process of cutting him in half his sward hit the stone staircase with so much force that I shattered.

His eyes widen in horror and he took the handle with a small fragment of the samara sward still left and used it as a knife to kill those creatures who proceeded up the staircase and climbed on the sides of it. He proceeded while snapping creature’s necks with his bare hands. Than one thing jumped on his back and buried his teeth in to his arm.

The man showed a huge amount of discomfort but didn’t scream or yell. He punched the thing so hard that it broke every bone in his face and his neck with his left hand. He picked up the book and called in the helicopter to take him home. The helicopter appeared overhead and threw down a ladder. The man grabbed the ladder and proceeded to slowly climb as two creatures managed to grab a hold before it took off.

The man managed to kick the first one of but wasn’t able to shack the second.

“Lets see one more to go” He sees the single wooden flag with “C” written on it and ripped it off. It’s wicked sharp end he used to stab the flag straight threw the beasts head. It let go and fell over 500 feet to its doom.

Back in the barren wasteland. A single helicopter flies through the air. Inside is a man with olive green eyes. Holding his arm, which was bleeding severely and had a very bad bite mark. One tall man was kneeling down to the wounded man.

“Its gonna be okay, your going to be okay soldier” The tall man said.

Meanwhile the only other passenger, a very short and stalky man, was studying the small book in his hands. The book was all green with a circle and a “C” in the middle of the circle. The book was short perhaps only a couple hundred pages. The book seemed to give off a glow of sorts. A silvery atmosphere just barely visible around the book.

“Hundreds, maybe even thousands of years in that cast le and still not one spec of dust on the book” The short man wondered. “So much trouble for such a little thing. I wonder if we can ever save earth. I wonder if this is just some hopeless goose chase and were just wasting out time. This thing looks so useless and old.” The man opened the book and flipped through the pages intently. “Its all gibberish. I can’t imagine how this will help us.”

The helicopter went on for hours going nowhere until in the middle of nowhere there is a very large base, surrounded by mountains maybe 14 or 15 thousand feet high. Inside the mountains the base looks no more than a spec inside the valley of waste. The base was made of completely metal with a entire city inside. Inside the base the only inhabitance are soldiers who have been assigned to study the new diminution.

When the helicopter sits down on the pad the two soldiers inside pick up the wounded man and carried him to the hostbital. As everyone cleared the helicopter there was a small figure in the distance hiding behind a pillar, as if hoping not to be seen. When the figure believes they have all gone he proceeds forward into the helicopter. Once inside the helicopter he see’s someone he didn’t expect. A tall figure wearing an army jacket and a red badge.

“Beecher? Is he going to make it?” The figure said cautiously

“We think so general, he was bitten by one of those creatures”.

Right beside the man called Beecher was the book found in the castle. The general eyes widen as they passed over green book. He reached out to grab it but another hand wiped out and picked up the book, beecher was holding the book close to his chest, glaring at the general.

“So this is it eh?” The general cautiously reached out and slowly pried the book from Beecher hand. “I’ll be on my way now”. As the general walked across the helicopter pad he picked up a cell phone and dialed a quick number.

“Dr. Romanov” The general said into the phone.

“Ahh yes general what do you need” answered a voice with a thick Russian accent.

“We need you to come here ASAP.” Said the general

“Uhh well sir I am quite busy studying the book”

“We have the second book”

“What! Where! Don’t touch it. I’ll be right down.”

“Come to landing pad BII,” answered the general shortly and than hung up the phone.

A tall man with blazing olive green eyes enters a small office in shackles around his wrists. He looks up to see a man know as the general. The General was dressed fully in blue and was studying intently on a small file on his desk. The General was smoking. The room stank of tobacco.

“Ahhhhh Etrius. Long time no see” The general says without looking up from his work.

“Do you know that I can break these as easily as your damn neck” The man named Etrius says to the General.

“Yes yes” The general answered hastely. “It was just to see if you would cooperate or not. What retirement made you soft or something”.

“What do you want” Etrius answerd curtly.

“Same old Etrius. Straight to business eh?? Okay I’ll break. I’m having some problems Etrius. Ever since you left I couldn’t ever find any one reliable enough to do those missions that your so, notorious of.” Said the General.

“I am retired you know that. I don’t do that bull any more.”

“You don’t have much of a choice in this one Etrius.”

“Believe me I do” Etrius said sharply.

“You’re the only man on earth that can possible complete this task”

“This shit again” Etrius replied glaring intently.

“I’m serious, as always. Let me ask you something Etrius. Do you believe in “Different dementions?” The general took a deep breath of his cigar, puffing out a large black smoke. “For a long time a series of parallel universes existed. Places where the laws of natures don’t necisarrily exist. These so-called parallel dimensions are connected to us. No farther away than the width of a shadow without us being able to see it or go into them”. The general glanced up at Etrius, who was still glaring at him, and flashed a small grin. “A few months ago, for the first time ever, we opened up a link that connected us to a nearby diminution. This newly discovered universe is a dark, dead, and deserted world. After a few weeks of studying this new world a helicopter pilot found a castle, of sorts. A team of scientist were immediately sent in for investigation. None of them were found again”. The general paused again. “There is something in that castle. Something evil”.

“I’m not some godamn archeologist. Stop wasting my time” Etrius said scowling.

“Etrius, something ancient built those castles. We believe they uses dome sort of….” The General took another large inhail of tabacco. “Power source. Using it as a world resource. Imagine what would happen if we got our hands on that. We don’t need to fight about earth’s last resources Etrius! We havn’t struck oil for decades. The rain forests are nearly gone. The oceans are flooded cities. EARTH IS DYING ETRIUS. This power source is our last chance.”

Etrius took a long sigh and than finally spoke after the long silence. “All right. fine. I’m in. for earth and earth alone”

“Great. All you old partners will be working with you. There waiting.”

Etrius opened his eyes in a daze seeing only bright lights and being rolled down a long corrider.

“Hang in there Etrius” someone wisperd in his ear”. But Etrius couldn’t hear anything. He only saw someones mouth moving and light everywhere. Etrius eyes grew wide and moved in and out of focus. Lights blurred, everything looked like wet paint, dripping and drooling and mixing with other colors on the canvas.

Etrius’s eyes remained half closed while he groaned with pain in his shoulder. He continued groaning until until the pain dulled and numbed and became nothing but a small needle. A small needle inserting its self into his arm repetivly. The pain got smaller and smaller but not gone. And suddenly, without warning, the pain blazed and grew and grew more and more. Etrius opend his mouth to scream, but found he couldn’t. His eyes flew open and wide, his pupil grew unusually large, almost stretched into an oval shape.

The pain seared like fire, spreading to his entire body. Pictures flew infront of his eyes. He saw those beasts, those scaly things with glowing eyes and blood stained fangs, he saw one sink its fangs into his solders as he grabbed the book, he saw him firing everything at the thousands of beasts. Bullets ripping through their heads and being cut in half with his sword. Than the scene changed. Changed to a new castle, something much bigger and much sinister. It was a massive maze with enormous towers and bottomless pits. He saw squads of soldiers being ripped in half, flying beats slicing through their stomaches, he saw earth, dried completely of all resources and life, all that was left was dead bodies everywhere both man and animal alike, fish, insect, mammals and humans filling up every last space. And than he saw himself, in a coliseum, holding a sphere, and a bullet in his head.

Etrius shot up from his bed with startled. He found himself in a small hostbital room.

A tall man strode into the hostbital room.

“Etrius. Get up” he said. The man was very tall, at least 6’ 4”. He had yellowish eyes more like gold. His hair was also gold locks. He strode across the room gracefully with perfect balance. Behind him was another man about medium size. His eyes were unnaturally red and he wore a distinct scowl on his face. This other man wore a red army jacket with a red badge showing his high ranking.

“Come on Etrius get up, while you have been sleeping for the past 48 hours the rest of us have been planning our approach on the new castle. Lucky basterd”. The man in red said.

“Hey, back up a sec Beecher! A new castle!?” Etrius said to the man in red immediately awake.

“Yep, brand new and just found by Romanov” replied the tall man.

“Loyid, how long before we leave” said Etrius to the tall man.

“You got 6 hours so spend your time wisely. Oh, and we brought someone here”. Said the man called Loyid.

A beautiful woman strode into the room. She had naturally silver hair like the moon, her face shined as if it were alien. Her face was white and light reflected off it making it look silvery. Her face was completely smooth, not a single flaw She wore a long white dress that stretched too her feet. Her hands were long and smooth. She walked gracefully as she flashed a dazzling smile able to stun the most resistant of men. She walked barefoot with long strides and she strode right up to Etrius’s bed and grinned.

“Well we best be goin! Come on Beecher” Loyid said hastily as he dragged Beecher out of the room and shut the door tightly. The lady in white sat down on the bed and watched as Etrius got out of bed and threw on a shirt.

“Honey why are you wearing such a long dress?” Etrius asked curiously. “I know you hate dresses”.

The lady laughed “That I do Etrius!” she said. “But I somehow find its easier to hide knives and guns under this behemoth of a dress”. Etrius grinned. “You thought you could get rid of your fiancé!?”

“I know I don’t want too. That’s for sure!” Etrius moved back to the bed and sat next too his fiancé.

Etrius’s fiancé sighed and turned toward Etrius “Etrius I’m tierd of keeping our upcoming marriage a secret. No one knows about us except for Loyid…. And maybe Beecher, if you told him. I know the risks if we tell people about how close we are but I just can’t do this much longer” Etrius looked down.

“Tania. We’ve been planning this marriage for 8 months. But we both know that if they know about you there going to use you as a my weakness. They could hurt you! Tourture you! Cause you so much pain! They could…..

“Etrius!! Like I said before, I know the risks and I am don’t fear them. And I can take care of my self as you know”

“Honey, its not you that’s afraid of these risks. Its me, I couldn’t bare the thought of people taking you” Tania put her finger on his lips and looked him in the eyes. She lunged forward and her lips found his as they pressed against each other. Her lips were soft and like solid water that rippled with each press of the lips. They kissed until there lips grew soar and became bruised. they continued for hours, but it felt like seconds. The time just flew away. They ensnared each other until they heard a knocking. Each froze.

“Who is it?” Said Etrius.

“Its Jeremy sir. Were loading in the choppers”.

“Oh. Okay. I’ll uhhhhh be there in a five”. Etrius turned back to Tania who was frowning. “Honey, you know I have to go” Tania looked up misrabley and a small drop of water rolled down her perfect cheek, leaving tiny droplets behind. Etrius moved forward to kiss her again but she turned away.

“Etrius. Last time you went in one of those god forsaken castles you nearly got your arm bit off” her eyes darted to his shoulder wound that was a little more than a pink scar. She laughed nerviously “Its amazing what our medical staff can do, its little more than a scar and you got that two days ago”. There was a long silence between the two. She sighed and bursts out into tears “oh!! I don’t want to loose you again” Etrius moved closer near her and she cried in his arms.

Etrius patted her head softly. “You won’t dear. I promise” Etrius got up, not knowing that he would forever regret that promise. He moved slowly to the door and left his poor wife behind, sobbing on silently on the bed.

Hello
I liked this story a lot really. There were some few spelling mistakes in there though. The one strong suggestion I could give you is that when you write a story, considering that this is the first chapter, your story should not be straight forward and lack suspense. It is also an adventure story, and I am expecting to go on one. Do not get me wrong, I liked the story line, but try to revise it again and get in some eye catching originality in there. Great potential though. Keep writing.
