Dogs make me jealous.

sniffing each other's butts
never sweating
cute when fat
lovable no matter what
energetic
great detection of smell
especially bad odors on themselves.
Plus they can poop in the yard.

Dogs piss me off.

I wasn't expecting jealously behind the reason you hate dogs. This was a pretty homorus piece.

No idea why I'm reviewing this but I couldn't help myself.

Nitpicks first...

I doubt it has any need for grammar or punctuation but I'm going to tear this apart anyhow c:

sniffing each other's butts
never sweating
cute when fat
lovable no matter what
energetic
great detection of smell
especially bad odors on themselves.
Plus they can poop in the yard.

Severe lack of punctuation and capitalization in these stanzas. Not to mention it's way too close together which makes it hard to read.

I'll do the honors of fixing it for you...

Sniffing each other's butts,

never sweating,

cute when fat,

lovable no matter what,

energetic,

great detection of smell,

Especially bad odors on themselves.

Plus they can poop in the yard.

There ya go, frankly I'm jelous of dogs too...I go days without a bath and my mom says I start to stink and she makes me take a bath.

I don't have the ability to get fat because of my dads genes or even be cute when fat because I'm not even cute when skinny.

I tried pooping in the yard once and the neighbors called the cops.. Dogs have it easy.

But they are cute so that makes up for it...

Good work, keep it up!

Fun fact: Poems don't need punctuation! I know you have got that message before (you've reviewed Magpie's works before), and now you're getting it again. Capitalization and punctuation doesn't matter whether I use it or not.

Thanks for the review!

I know it probably doesn't but I wanted to shred something apart XD

Hello there! Unknown391625 here with a review!

I really like it! It's very humorous, short, and simple. Just one nitpick. On line 2-7, there was really no punctuation at the end of each line. If it was a continued sentence, I would have put commas at the end of each line and you ended that whole sentence at line 8. Also in line 2, you didn't capitalize the first letter of the first word. Otherwise, this was a funny poem. Great job! Don't give up and always write, Strangelove!

Happy review day!

First of all, thanks for the review!
I felt capitalization wasn't needed at line 2, because it would be more effective. Along with the lack of punctuation.

americanidol82 wrote a review Review · Dec 28, 2014

I am not sure what to think of this poem. It has a sense of humor to it, but at the same time, it is just so random. If you had more collective thoughts and put them together better it would make more sense. Each line had a different amount of words in it, and it makes it seem all over the place. The sentiment behind it is good, just a little development would make it awesome!

I wouldn't call it random, nor does the lines all over the place matter?

I'm sorry, but there is no way I can develop this more.
Thanks for the review

Hahaha, apology please, but i can't stop laughing! it's such a realistic poem!! i can somehow relate to this, but yeah, Dogs aren't that bad!
you wrote this with such cuteness, that, now I'm in love with this poem! I'm surely going to memorize this one!
and as Charizard821 said, WHY ARE YOU JEALOUS OF THAT ONE?

Dog used to piss me off once but things have changed now, I love dogs now, very much.
these two lines,

"great detection of smell
especially bad odors on themselves."

What can be the scientific reason behind this? like, dogs have bad odors on them plus, they can detect smell so good. I have got to think about it, can Google it in seconds, but, thinking is more wonderful, don't you think?
Yes, dogs can poop in the yard plus think of the moment when you've just stepped in one of those!
Anyway, it's really nicely written, no wonder, we're loving it!
Write more!

Best of luck!

Wait, wait, wait... Am I the only one who noticed that your first reason for being jealous of dogs is being able to sniff others' butts? Why are you jealous of that?

loveofliterature wrote a review Review · Dec 1, 2014

Truthfully this was quite funny. Maybe I should be jealous of dogs too.

This was really good but there few only two mistakes. The first one is that you forgot to capitalize at each stanza but you capitalized one.
"especially bad odors on themselves.
Plus they can poop in the yard."
The second thing was that you didn't add commas when you didn't use periods. That's really all that I have to say. I hope that dogs won't piss you off.

First of all, thanks for the review!
The only time I ever capitalized was after a period, which was on purpose. The inner hipster poet got the best of me.

Hey Strangelove!

I thought this was really cute, it did make me laugh, which is good, and all of the stuff that you say, is totally true! I loved it! It was short and sweet! YAY! The only thing I have to say about it is that I think you should add commas after each line! But other than that, I thought it was great! So yeah... Well, great job!

happy writing,

Hello! I am writer88 here!

I disagreed at first because I love dogs, but it was a humorous poem, and I liked it!

But, your title does not follow the rules of being a title, because it is not capitalized like it's supposed to be. And, although you might disagree, I think there should be no punctuation after "dogs", in your title.

"sniffing each other's butts
never sweating
cute when fat
lovable no matter what
energetic
great detection of smell
especially bad odors on themselves."

I assume this is one sentence, so I think there should be a capital S instead of the lowercase s for sniffing.

Wow that was a lot of comments in a short amount of time... but only one review!?
(someone will probably review this before I do making that statement invalid but whatever.)

Hello!

As I said, I liked his poem.

Recently we had to write list poems for creative writing, and I now understand how difficult it is to come up with a good concept. This is a great list poem. I was going to ask for commas (dumb, I know) until I realized it was a list poem. Great work.

sniffing each other's butts

Right away with this line you show the reader that you aren't wasting your time with sounding pleasant. Good way to bust the idea of poems all being flower.

especially bad odors on themselves.

This line didn't make much sense to me? I'm not even sure why I'm confused but I am. What are you talking about here?

I like how valid all your points are. Though I'm not sure I would want to poop in the yard >.>

I also like that you started the poem off with stating your jealousy. Otherwise, people might be confused.

Sorry that I didn't have much to say to help you, I don't think there are many ways for this to be made better, just that one confusing line.

Great job, Keep writing!

Cheers,
fortis

Ahh this is awesome! I'm so happy I read it even though the title made me think that it would be some big rant. Thank you for surprising me :)
It's funny and short, the shortness makes it great it just goes to show that there doesn't need to be too much going on to get a point across and to entertain.

Haha i loved this poem Strange :D. I have a dog or rather puppy myself but I'm more of a cat person. The great sense of smell they have has found many people who went missing. Dogds in general do smell.....Alot. They roll in dirt and sometimes in their own poo. I think that you should be glas to be a human because there are perks to being a human being :). Being able to hide in a bathroom comes in handy because well dogs doing their business is basically unprivate for them. xD anyways thanks Strange for sharing this with all of us here at YWS :) Happy review day.

As an obsessive dog lover, I was about to go all full-blown death and destruction rant when I first saw this, but it's actually pretty funny. XD I hope you don't actually hate dogs, because they love you, but I get jealous of them all the time. THEY DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING. Lucky little butts. :P
Nice job

CuriosityCat, do you like both cats and dogs? Just wondering cuz your name suggests you like cats and you just said you liked dogs...I like both!

I like cats, but honestly, I like dogs even more. I just love the saying "curiosity killed the cat". :)

I understand... But what I love about dogs is that they are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. That's what makes them so different to cats and humans, and other animals.
