*So I’m not sure if anybody remembers this, but back in 2022, I got featured member on October and one of the questions was if I was working on any projects. I mentioned this one and uh…some time has passed since I wrote this. I think it’s got serious parts, but it’s mostly humorous and light hearted. I might edit this later, I don’t know. But anyway, I hope you enjoy this. This story is under my folder titled “Some kind of monster land”. Gacha Club character designs are under my forum titled “My character designs<33[2]”. Happy Halloween season!!*
Chapter One-Jenny La Rue
Hi, my name is Jenny La Rue. I’m ten years old and living in a haunted house.
But I’m not a human.
You’re probably thinking: “What does this kid know?” or “Who does she think she is?”
I’m telling you, I’m far from human. I’m half demon clown and creepy doll.
My Dad is a freaking demon clown and he is so annoying! He appears in my dreams and tries telling me to do my homework from there. Like, you don’t need to scare me to get me to listen.
Also, his evil laugh hurts my ears.
My Mom isn’t any better. She sometimes just twists her head in a never-ending circle or appears in random rooms around the house.
One thing my parents do together is repeat my name and ask me to play with them. It’s like this:
“JeNnY…cOme pLaY wIth uS…”
So bothersome, right? They even do it when I’m sleeping.
Chapter Two-A “normal” morning
Why am I in a creepy, abandoned carnival? What’s with that tinkling music? Why does it smell like dead bodies?
Wait, I know where I am.
Dad’s freaking dream carnival.
Great.
“Dad! Get out of my head! It’s intrusive!” I yell.
My Dad is probably in his most evil clown moment yet, because instead of answering me, he does this:
“EhehEhehAheHeHaHehAhe!”
I roll my eyes.Typical Dad.
“Get out!” I yell.
Suddenly, I hear children crying. Oh no. He wouldn’t. He seriously wouldn’t.
“Dude, cut it out with the crying children. We get it, you’re creepy. Just get out of my head!” I yell louder.
I feel someone tap my shoulder.
I turn around and-
“GOOD MORNING, SWEETHEART!”
-And now I’m awake.
Chapter Three-Breakfast with Mom and Dad
“Dad! Did you really have to do that?” I ask, annoyed that he bothered me like this.
You would think I’d get used to this by now, but nooo. Dad still bothers me.
He grins (He never stops grinning) and gives me a hard shove on my shoulder, which is supposed to be playful, but it feels like my porcelain doll parts are cracking.
“It’s time for breakfast! Then you have to go to school.” He says.
“Then why couldn’t you just wake me up normally?”
“I’m not normal.”
“Yeah, whatever.”
Dad finally leaves my room and I get out of bed, following him.
Breakfast isn’t fried eggs and croissants. It’s not pancakes or sausages.
It’s some gosh darn human meat.
I don’t even like the taste of humans! Too fleshy.
But it’s the only thing my parents eat, so I have to eat whatever they like.
I go downstairs to the living room, where the creaky dining table and chairs are set up.
My Mom, though tiny (She’s a doll, remember?) is strong enough to hold three plates, two of them bigger than hers, to give to us.
She plops all three plates on the table and I hold my nose.
The stench of human flesh is too sickening..
“Eat.” She points to my “food.”
“Can’t you make eggs for once? You know, something more normal?” I ask.
Mom glares at me and adds extra meat to my plate.
Gross…
Chapter Four-To school I go
So right now, I just finished eating breakfast and now I’m going to school.
Of course, I’m walking in the dark woods because that’s how we travel in this spooky place.
School is a big, stereotypical vampire-ish castle with those gargoyle statues and guards everywhere. It’s pretty cool, I’ve got one friend there and one bully there. I kind of wish I didn’t have a bully, but that’s life, I guess.
Chapter Five-I do what I have to do
As I walk in the hall, some girl tries grabbing on my hair, but I twist her hand and probably break it.
I can defend myself, you know. I’m not completely helpless. She’s gonna get healed soon by the school nurse, so really, she shouldn’t be crying.
Chapter Six-Valencia
I go to my locker (We have lockers at this school) and open up my combination.
Then, I feel two long arms hug me.
“Hello, friend.” A seemingly emotionless voice says.
I turn around to face the person.
If I didn’t already have a stupid permanent smile, I would have been donning the biggest one yet.
This is my best friend since second grade. Now, we’re in 5th grade together.
Her name is Valencia and she’s half vampire, half siren. She always acts like she doesn’t care about anything, but she can’t help it. That’s who she is.
She’s also not weird, unlike my parents.
“How are you?” Valencia asks.
“I’m fine.” I say, because there’s no need to tell her about the whole morning ordeal.
I walk with Valencia to our first class, ELA. I’m going to talk with her more in class!
Chapter Seven-Talking about my parents
“Did they force you to eat humans again?” Valencia asks. We are in the back of the class, talking to each other.
I nod.
“Why can’t they just understand that we are pacifists?” Valencia asks me.
I shrug.
Last year, me and Valencia snuck into the human land to check it out. It was on Halloween, of course. We were intending to scare some people, but…
But we ended up meeting these nice human kids who were trick-or-treating and became friends with them.
Ever since then, we’ve become pacifists. Yes, I know we’re only ten years old.
But remember, even ten year olds can be pacifists!
We are pacifists in a world of war-lovers.
Chapter Eight-Eh-scare class?
Look, we’re in a school of non-homo sapiens, there’s bound to be monster-related classes.
Like for example, “Scare Class.”
I think you know what that means.
Basically, we have to bare our teeth, show our claws, that kind of stuff.
Personally, I find it embarrassing because I don’t really want to show my claws and teeth. I’m not lacking of it, just…it’s just gross, okay?
But we have to do this for sChoOl.
Me and Valencia are standing next to each other in class, waiting for our teacher, Mr. Smells-like-the-dead (I’m not kidding, that’s his actual name) to call on us.
“Jenny La Rue? Valencia Diaz? Please come up.”
Oh goodness. He called our names.
I take the hand of Valencia and walk to the front of class, bracing myself for what is to come.
“Now, can you show us your…scares?” He asks.
I take a deep breath, let my inner evilness show and-
“EhehehehHAehehehHAhehehe!”
My head is spinning around in circles, my eyes in different directions. My high-pitched cackle is climbing up to the surface of the ceiling and into the ears of my classmates.
Valencia is also on the ceiling and hissing at the students. Then, she starts singing a demonic siren song, which can only kill humans.
Luckily, no one here is human.
“Beautiful scares, like always!” Mr. Smells-like-the-dead beams.
I take a bow, while Valencia blankly stares at the clapping class.
I mean, I like the applause and all, really, but-
-Who am I kidding? I’m a sucker for compliments!
Chapter Nine-Lunchtime
Me and Valencia are eating lunch together in the cafeteria.
Hopefully no one else will bother us.
Chapter Ten-So what is my lunch, exactly?
You remember when I said that my parents force me to eat human meat, right?
Well lunchtime is no different. Mom packed me a lunch consisting of raw human flesh and blood as a drink.
Gross, right?
So what do I do with my lunch?
Well, naturally, I throw it in the trash. Then, Valencia gives me a double chocolate cookie which she brings to school for me and I eat it.
Isn’t she a great friend?
Chapter Eleven-Recess and some bully
So it’s recess right now and me and Valencia are playing with a fortune teller Valencia made. But wait…
I see this annoying girl (The girl whose wrist I broke. Or was it her hand? I don’t remember) walks up to us and pulls me to the ground, dragging me to…I don’t know, she’s just dragging me.
Oh great, what does she want from me now?
Chapter Twelve-She wants my food…
“I want your cookie!” She yells. stomping her foot.
The girl is half demon and half angel, her name is Beatrice but everyone calls her “Bullying B.” She grabs random kids and asks them to give her their lunch. We don’t know why she does it, she just does.
Like now.
The thing is, I already ate the cookie.
But she doesn’t know that.
I smile at her and say:
“Of course, Beatrice. Just let me get it for you.”
My voice has gone into a deeper, demonic sound. Bullying B backs away and looks around nervously.
I feel the chewed up cookie bits crawl back to my mouth and then-
BULLSEYE!
I vomit the cookie right in her freaking face! The whole school saw!
Okay, so maybe I’m gross and weird, but not more so than my parents! I did what I had to do! I’m not bad, I swear. I just…I had to do it!
Chapter Thirteen-Going home
Yep, school is over. I’m currently walking home, all alone. Valencia went her separate way to go home.
My house is just like every other house in my neighborhood. It’s abandoned and creepy-looking. Legend has it that humans used to live in them, but over time, they wanted to move to nicer areas,
So the creepy monsters all moved to the creepy houses!
Anddd my parents being creepy monsters, they just had to get a creepy house!
A creepy and ugly house, that is.
Chapter Fourteen-Where are my parents?
I walk inside my house and-
“Mom? Dad? Where are you?”
Maybe they’re hiding, waiting to jump up and scare me. It wouldn’t be the first time they did that.
“Hello? Are you trying to scare me?” I ask.
Still nothing.
Okay, now I’m afraid. What if something happened to them? What if they’re hurt? What if-
“No.They’re here somewhere. I know they are.” I say out loud to myself, because where else would they be? There’s not much else they can go to.
I’m inside the kitchen now and I see...a note?
I pick it up and read:
“JENNY-
THEY FOUND US.”
It’s in my Mom’s handwriting, but…
“No, it can’t be possible.”
But it is.
Mr. Smells-like-the-dead warned us that this would happen one day.
One day, monsters would be kidnapped by humans.
Not only that, but they would be forced to watch ten hours of children’s cartoons...and then spend another twenty-six hours watching them!
My parents are in danger!
Chapter Fifteen-Wait a darn minute!
Wait, why am I worried? My parents are strong, they can defend themselves.
Hey, they’re probably chewing the humans to bits right now!
Wait-Chewing them to bits?
I have to get them!
But how?
Chapter Sixteen-I dig a hole to the human land
Hmm…Mr. Smells-like-the-dead did a lesson with us on what to do if we needed to go to the human land.
Usually, me and Valencia went through a secret path in the woods that led to the human land.
But I won’t have time to go through there.
He said that we should dig a hole.
So that’s what I’m doing right now. Digging a hole to the other side.
Instead of just digging with a shovel, I’m using my hands, which is way faster!
I have one big claw and one doll hand. I also have super speed, so yeah, it’s faster.
Chapter Seventeen-A face full of dirt
When I reach the other side, all I get is a face full of dirt from digging and bad back pain. (I had to hunch over while digging a hole.)
I also have no idea where in the human land I am. soo…
...Lovely! Not.
Chapter Eighteen-I hear a familiar voice
I crawl out of the hole and find myself standing in a field of dead grass (Does that even make sense?) and in front of an industrial building. There is a black gate surrounding the area. It kinda looks a prison.
“Nooo! Make it stop! I don’t want to watch another episode of Katie‘s adventures!”
I freeze. I know that deep and raspy voice.
It’s my Dad.
And it sounds like they were making him watch cartoons!
I have to get a move on!
Chapter Nineteen-Down the hall
I run inside the building, pushing past the humans and towards the screams of my parents.
Every time a human sees me, they say something like:
“I hate dolls!”
“I hate clowns!”
“I hate clowns and dolls!”
Yep, they are that scared of me. All I’ve ever done was push them.
Chapter Twenty-WHAT?!
I force open the industrial door and find Mom sitting in a corner, head spinning around in circles, muttering useless words, while Dad stares at the dead human bodies. There’s decaying, red, rotten flesh in his teeth.
The TV blares the colorful cartoons.
“If you already took care of it, then why didn’t you escape?”
“We wanted you to come find us. You need to learn how to save your loved ones-“
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let’s go home.”
I wave both my parents over. They each take a hand on mine and envelop all three of us in blue-purple smoke.
Magic. That’s how we get home, homo sapiens.
………………………………………………………
“Jenny. There’s something you should know.” Dad says once we’re back home.
Huh? What the heck do I need to know?
“What? Tell me!”
“Show, not tell.” Mom says, giving Dad a strange look as she does this. As if she’s telling him to be careful about what he says.
We’re in our living room. Mom and Dad are standing in front of me, but from their bodies, ghostly, teenage humans emerge…
“Wait?! You’re homo sapiens?”

I only gave it a high rating because it can get gross and violent at some parts.
Aww again I like that the parents are so involved with their kid. Also I like how Jenny is so unfazed by all the creepy stuff going on bc it’s just, ya know, for her’s just Tuesday.
Humas are too fleshy, huh?
I like Jenny’s attitude.
And I like her reason for being pacifist. It rly seems like communication is key for building bridges.
And also that while she knows it’s wrong and gross, that she cant help but like compliments. Awww
Hm I wonder why everyone is so disturbed by her vomiting? I mean, I feel like something like this should be right up their alley?
Okay…Uhm… I rly think that this is not equivalent. Monsters having to lounge around watching TV when they are kidnapped by humans while the other way around humans are eaten…
At least the parents weren’t in any real danger.
Oh did not see that ending coming!

Thx for reading!
It’s actually pretty good but it can get repetitive at some places but it still like it because u kind of blend a slice of life with a good plot which makes for a nice read.

Hi! great work! firstly, this is a great concept, and i think you portrayed a good combination of a ten yo and a monster. i also think you portrayed the laughter well. i also like how you made this a slice of life and still have a good plot. the cliffhanger at the end is very intriguing as well. keep writing! i cant wait to read part two!
I%u2019m glad you enjoyed! I%u2019m gonna write about more monsters besides Jenny! ^v^
Here is part two!
