"No" She stuttered, her frail voice coming out in a garbled gasp that shook with pain and loss.

"Oh but don't you see, thats just one word too many" He purred his voice taking on an amused tone.

"You can't do this!" She screamed her beautiful face distorted with loss and rage that his words brought.

The dark alleyway, darkened her resolveash she realized,no one was here, no one was coming to save her.

Because she knew it, knew it from the moment she was dragged to this, dormant alleyway, abid the the creature that only appeared in manys worst nightmares.

She was going to die.

The man that now lent over her crumpled posture smirked and strode purposefully into the narrow beam of light that the street lamp emitted, so that the absurdly beautiful womans face twisted with horror, his smirk grew yet again more pronounced as he saw the light of defeat flicker in her hazel eyes as she saw the murderous glint in his black eyes, or the pale face that dripped with her blood, and formidable bloodthirsty gaze that she knew thirsted for her blood.

But the most horrific part of his appearance was not the the black cloak matted with blood or the mangled hands, it was the deathly pale face that kept the beautiful woman locked in his gaze, it was inhuman.

The face was extremely handsome with Shaggy black hair, and high cheekbones, but despite his good looks is eyes where flat black with a lust for human blood. Three scars wrapped around his muscular neck and shoulders.

His features though where feral his handsome face was merely a lure, a lure to the inhumanly thirst for blood in his frightening eyes.

The beautiful woman stared at the frightening man now  her eyes shining with tears as she knew what was coming, He was coming to the end of his gloat, and she knew no human life would be spared.

He stared at her, his feral eyes probing as he gripped the concrete beside her.

"Where is your child!" He roared, reaching up to snap off the fence paling above her in one strong movement.

"Please?" He said, his tone softening. He cocked his head to the side an amused smile playing at his lips as he patiently waited for her answer.

The woman lay there, bewildered by the mans violent mood swings and the overwhelming desire to run and hide instead of facing this sheer terror,as she new she would be killed swiftly and drained of blood.

But, as she faced death, she knew she wasn't going to give in, no matter what happened, she new her baby was destined, as you might say to be powerful beyond anyone that had had ever walked the the planet; man or woman.

I suppose, she shivered defiance isn't always a good thing. Her baby, she worried endlessly, what was going to happen to her? No father and soon to be no mother, she worried for it's safety, even, moments away from death.

She had held her baby of course, it looked so much like her, beautiful even as a youngster, but instead of her mothers long dark hair, a short bristle of auburn hair that would soon grow to be long.

She had left the baby at home, hoping with every inch of her heart that she would be safe. She loved her more then anything in the world, herself included, and she had left a letter to her many protecters. Then she had walked to where he waited hoping to sacrifice herself for her.

Well almost more then anyone in the world, another defiance that didn't seem so bad was that soon, she would be reunited with James, her husband who had died leaving her a wreck from sadness, she smiled grimly at the thought of being with him once again, no matter the place.

Her baby, her baby, she murmured, lost in her years of agony.

The man leaned forward intently his eyes blazing with anger as she refused to speak, his easy going matter vanishing as he studied her, she was brave, incredibly so,  to sacrifice her own life for that of an infant. She had come here alone, intent on only protecting it.

"Hmm" He mused." You humans are very predictable"

She stared at him as the seconds ticked by, confused

"Wha-wh-

"Do you plan on finishing the sentence" He whispered angrily, as she stuttered.

She gulped.

"Why do you want her" She said slowly her voice breaking slightly as she thought of how close her baby had been of coming face to face with this creature.

"Oh, this and that" He grinned clearly enjoying the womans horror.

"Oh you know, a new child born into a powerful family, I merely  thought I could bring her up as one of us, see we are recruiting." He said cheerfully.

"I thought master would be pleased if we brought home a new girl, alive or not."

"But since your here..." He threw a careless hand across the dark street.

"I'm going to have to kill you" He flashed the woman a wide grin, showing a full set of canine teeth drenched in blood.

The woman stared bleakly into the distance one word escaping her lips

"Phoenix"

Then he attacked

Thanks
