My eyelids flutter open and a wonderful feeling washes over me. I jump up and hurridly run outside.
"Such a beautiful day!," I sing as I run through the dew covered grass. I skip through the fields and dance like a little bluebird, just woken up and flying from its nest for the first time.
Why am I so happy?
The sky is such a rich, velvety blue and the grass is such a nice, kind, soothing shade of green. I can see the happiness used to paint the sky, can smell the deep, gentle colors of the grass. The sunshine is warm and light and airy. Birds sing and the wind whispers in the trees.
I've never seen flowers such lovely colors! Cheerful yellow, smooth, soft blue, deep green, floaty purple, delicate white, bubbly pink, all these and so many more swim before my eyes, Butterflies dance around me and I leap after them gleefully, chasing the lovely floating colors of giggles and playfullness.
All this and everything else around me puts joy into my soul. Nothing could take this feeling from me!
There's no reason to be happy other than that I am alive, but this is enough to overjoy me. It's enough to be alive to experience the world around me, to marvel at the beauty of Creation, to enjoy every little thing this world has to offer.
I am touched with and filled with Joy.

Hey toboldygo
I really enjoyed reading this short story from you. It made me feel like life is beautiful and there is so much to see and appreciate!
But honestly, I actually imagined my dog thinking this. Since you are describing such an innocent being.
Especially this paragraph:
"There's no reason to be happy other than that I am alive, but this is enough to overjoy me. It's enough to be alive to experience the world around me, to marvel at the beauty of Creation, to enjoy every little thing this world has to offer. "
That is such a pure thing to say... it actually made me tear up a bit.
I love your writing!
Much love,
Naomi
Thank you!
Hey toboldygo,
Now this is good. But is it a short-story? I mean it's not much of a story. All we see here is a rather optimistic guy who wakes up and starts running pointlessly describing the beautiful scenes around him. which is good, but poetry wise.
Puck
sorry it came out out.
You don't think expressing happiness is enough? It's certainly not a poem. A story can be a complex writing, with plot twists and character developments and deep moral meanings, but it can also be a simple expression of a simple, but so important, idea. I have a plot, enjoying beauty and happiness. And I have charcters, the narrater, the flowers, and the butterflies. And there is a deep moral meaning, it is enough to be alive to see good things, nothing else is needed.

Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it when people take the time to say what they like and dislike about my work.

This was so nice. It really made me want to go outside and just enjoy life!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! That was what I wanted, to make people want to enjoy being alive for the sake of being alive. Life is a precious gift, and it's too short to be sad and angry. Hope you had fun outside.
