Fear

In Emotions

A crash of thunder awakens me from my sleep,
I shiver as I lie awake; each flash of lightning and each rumble of thunder seems to tear me apart.

My fears overwhelm me, I begin to cry,
Each minute is an eternity to my troubled heart.

My mind has become a cavern, in it I am locked away,
I feel the need to escape, to be free, but the openess of the outside frightens me.

I am so afraid, I tremble at the shadows, whimper at the sound of the wind,
I duck beneath the covers, but I cannot hide.

My blood is pounding through my veins, I feel my chest contract,
My breath is tight, I cannot see, it is all I can do to stay alive.

My fear is mounting, driving me mad,
Like a raging river it sweeps me away.

Down the mountain I tumble, my fear is dragging me down,
A landslide is coming down on top of me, brought down by my fear.

My brain is frozen, I cannot move,
The fear is eating me away.

My muscles are deteriorating,
My bones have dissolved.

I am paralyzed in my terror,
And my helplessness makes me more afraid.

But the storm is abating, the rain is subsiding,
And my strength is returning.

When the last rumble has died away, I look around and am reassured,
And so as I begin to doze back off, I begin again to feel brave.

Wow, intense.
Lol.
I really liked it :D
The only problem I found was this, "A landslide is coming down on top of me, brought down by me fear."
Should it not be "my fear"? Just saying! But I did honestly like it. My uncle popped into my head when I read it xD He's the same way with storms... and the dark.
