The love of a family

by AmayaStatham

Once upon a time, there was a man called Seth who lived in a small village on the outskirts of town. Seth was a kind-hearted man who was very helpful and caring and always helped people who needed help. He was highly respected for his generosity and kindness, many people came to him for advice and great life decisions.

Despite his popularity, Seth was a lonely man living alone in his small house. He was content with his quiet and peaceful life, but there was one thing that kept him from being completely happy. His desire for a family.

Seth had always dreamed of having a wife and children of his own, but his fate did not allow it. He was once in love with and a woman from the village, but she had chosen someone else over him. He had also tried to adopt a child from the orphanage, but the whole hassle of paperwork and the state had discouraged him.

Seeing other families in the village so happy, he gradually began to feel jealous and sad. He longed for the love and warmth that only a family could provide, and he wondered if he would ever be able to find that love or find another way to continue living like this.

One day when Seth was walking through the forest, he heard a noise in the woods and as he got closer, he saw a young girl who was lost. The girl was scared and crying, so Seth went to her to help her. She told him she had run away from home because she had no family left and no one to look after her.

Seth's heart broke on hearing the girl's story and he realised that this was his chance to experience the love and warmth of a family. He asked her if she would like to live with him and become his daughter, and to his delight, she agreed.

From that day on, the girl, named Emily, became the most important person in Seth's life. He took care of her as if she were his own daughter and she brought joy and happiness to his lonely cottage. They did everything together, from cooking to gardening to playing games. Seth was so grateful that he had found Emily and he knew that now he would never be lonely again.

After a few years, Emily grew up into a beautiful young woman and she still loved Seth as much as when they first met. On her 18th birthday, Seth gave her a special gift: a locket he had received from his own mother. He told her that she was now officially his daughter and that he loved her as if she were his own blood.

Emily was moved by Seth's words and the love he had for her. She realised that she could never have had a better father than Seth and that he was the person she had always looked for to guide her through life. She loved him and said she would always stay with him because he was the only family she had ever needed.

Seth smiled contentedly when he heard Emily's words. He knew he had finally found the family he had always longed for, and that he would never be alone again. He and Emily would go through life together, in happiness and in sorrow, and he knew he was the luckiest man on earth because he had finally found the love of a family.

Hi Rinisha! Here to leave a review! And I gotta say, I agree with all the other comments that this story is really heartwarming. <3 It's simple but sweet, and reminds me of a fairytale. The pacing's also great, and in the intro, you managed to quickly and clearly explain Seth's character and the conflict. I haven't read happy stories like this in a long time, but I enjoyed this one a lot. Awesome job!

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night(whichever one it is in your part of the world),

Hi! I'm here to leave a quick review!!

First Impression: Well this was a beautiful little tale here. Its such a simple idea but at the same time there's quite a bit of complex emotion that it manages to create and honestly I really loved it. It creates a nice wholesome little glow within us readers.

Anyway let's get right to it,

Well this is quite the place to start here. It looks like poor Seth was dealt a pretty bad hand there in life and despite seeking a family is currently living through some rather tough times unable to really find anyway to have to actually solve the issue of not having a family. This definitely establishes that situation quite powerfully here especially the details on what Seth tried to do but failed at.

Well this is an interesting development. First of all, I like that Seth while naturally feeling jealous of all the other happy families doesn't seem to have gone down a dark path as a result of it and is now instead quite possibly being gifted a golden opportunity there to finally have some sort of a family at least for a little while.

Aww well that was a beautiful place to end. Its not too often you see a genuinely happy ending here so I wasn't expecting this and I love it, especially how it seems this little family Seth managed to find did in fact last a lifetime and was as beautiful and strong as ever.

Aaaaand that's it for this one.

Overall: Overall, once again all I really have to say is this is quite a beautiful little tale. I think Seth even in this short time manages to be someone we root for very quickly and the message this story sends is just wonderfully wholesome. Its the sort of story to leave you with a smile.

As always remember to take what you think was helpful and forget the rest.

Stay Safe
Kate

Heyo! I’m gonna review your piece.

Before I begin:
I love this story! It’s so heart warming and happy. To be honest, I don’t write or read stories like this but reading this story was a nice change.

Now let’s begin;
First off, I was glad to see that Seth still had the desire to find a family after being rejected for someone else and being discouraged by paperwork and the state. He does seem like a kind and caring man so Emily is very lucky to have been picked up by him.

Second, the title really fits this story. It’s just as innocent as the story and for me personally it’s the reason why I clicked on this story. This has also inspired me to try and write more heartwarming stories opposed to my usual topics (horror, mystery, sad).

Overall, this story is great. Keep up the good work.

Hello this is Foxmaster!!!
Aaw, this was such a sweet sort story! I loved it! At first I expected it to be sad (I don't know why, I may have read the description to another story about family and gotten this mixed up with it.)

Once upon a time, there was a man called Seth who lived in a small village on the outskirts of town. Seth was a kind-hearted man who was very helpful and caring and always helped people who needed help. He was highly respected for his generosity and kindness, many people came to him for advice and great life decisions.

Well, Seth sounds like a very good person...... I can tell he would be a very good role model for his children.

Poor Seth! Maybe he will become mean and grumpy? Or will he find a family?...

Aw, Seth got a daughter! He now has family with him.... the poor girl though!
Overall, this was a very short and sweet story! I liked it a lot! Also, I really hope you continue MaryAnna soon, because the suspense is like: 😱😱😱times googolplex.

Title: The love of a family
From the title, I assume this will be a lovely and heartfelt short story. It probably will be bittersweet because the interconnection between love and family can have the possibility of being both bitter and sweet because of a multitude of factors/aspects.

Commentaries/Interpretations:
"On her 18th birthday, Seth gave her a special gift: a locket he had received from his own mother. He told her that she was now officially his daughter and that he loved her as if she were his own blood." - Not my heart sobbing when I read this because that is so precious.

Grammar/Punctuation:
"He was once in love with and a woman from the village, but she had chosen someone else over him." - This first half of the sentence before the comma does not make that much sense because of the way you worded it such as 'in love with and a' is the particular portion of this first half of the sentence that confused and tripped me up while reading this entire sentence.
"One day when Seth was walking through the forest, he heard a noise in the woods and as he got closer, he saw a young girl who was lost." - I believe after 'one day' there should be a comma because if read out loud then it would feel more appropriate to put a pause with a comma in that part.

Overall:
Such an incredibly touching and moving short story of love and family. Kudos to you for writing this heartfelt/heartwrenching short story that made me cry inside at how precious and lovely this writing was and the story itself was.
