kiicoh, Aslan, check your PM's regarding this thread if you haven't already done so.
Hey,kiicoh, who did that help? What did that accomplish? Yeah, write a bad review about something you did not even bother to read, why dont you! That is not unfair. (in case you cannot tell, because you seem like a narrow-minded and prejudiced person to me, i was being sarcastic.)
To razhuni: i think this must have taken some courage to put up and i just want to applaud you for going through because i thought it was an uncomfortable mixture of funny, defensive, and logical, and i think you did a wonderful job. And we all need to be a bit uncomfortable sometimes, or we end up like kiicoh. **shudder**
Hey there! First, I'd just like to say great job on this! I absolutely loved it, and I think you did an amazing job writing it. Your style is awesome, and I think that the way you wrote it was funny, awesome, and should not have offended anyone. Just by reading it, I could tell that it was a piece meant to be a fun and stereotypical take on this topic, which in this case is a good thing rather than what a lot of other reviewers are trying to make it out to be. In short, great writing and wonderfully entertaining piece.
There was, however, one small typo that you might want to fix that I just noticed, but other than that I can't find anything.
I believe that it should be "Versatility".
So anyways, I think I'll sum up by saying great job one more time. Your piece was truly engaging and extremely well written, having pulled me in from the very start. It makes me look forward to reading more and more of your work, and seeing what else you have to offer! Keep up the awesome work, and don't ever stop writing!
Good night, and good bye for now!
HAHAHA!
Either way, this piece is great for everyone and people gotta stop hating on it just because they don't like the topic.
I totally LOVED this piece! I like how you obviously weren't trying to be completely serious (although some people might not have noticed that *coughcough*) And it was side-splittingly HILARIOUS! Wow, I bet it is way easier to pick out a different gender every day, but I am partial to being female, I gotta say.
Write On, My Friend!!!
~grace1096
JUST TO CLEAR THIS UP: This is supposed to be stereotypical! That's half the point, actually.
Blue, thanks. I know Kiicoh isn't worth listening to, especially considering she didn't even finish reading it. As for researching what I write about, yeah, that's definitely something I've needed to work on, even if this wasn't exactly supposed to be factual.
I agree with Kyllorac that you need to research your subject more before writing about it; I don't know a whole lot about transvestites, but I do know that you need to know about the people you're writing about, whether they're a character or, as in this case, a subject. But at the same time I must say: DON'T listen to that jerk who said to stop writing. That's just mean, and besides - no one EVER has the right to tell you to stop writing!
~Blue
Ohmigawd.
Dude.
Seriously. 100% AMAZING.
Like, I have a ton of friends who do this and they're put down a lot for it. It's like a pep talk, and a hah-you're-wrong kind of thing. Seriously. I love it.
~Lena~
By not reading it, you forfeit your opinion on it. you can't say "I hate dogs" without ever seeing one.
there is no reason one should ever stop writing, the fact that you called it "Horrid, Stereotypical, and insulting." (it's SteREOtypical, No I in there.) just shows that you are a uptight, hypocritical, and most likely biased person that insults things simply for the reason that they do not adhere to your beliefs. Even if you do not agree with the subject matter, you must give credit where credit is due by saying, "I don't agree with what you wrote, but truly this is a well written piece." or something along the same lines.
*GASP*
Now, One thing that bothered me is that most (if not ALL) transvestites do not decide their gender of the day on a whim. Other than that. A very well written piece in which you comically, and playfully insult both of the genders, Bravo. Well done. Encore.
All that stuff
Love it!
Hey RazHuni,
Haha, I absolutely loved this! To be honest, at first, I wasn't sure if I'd make the decision to read it, because it is not a commonly talked about topic, then I thought, there must be a reason why its so popular, so I read it and it was good!
It also seems really efficient to be a transvestite. haha. I also found this delightfully humorous! Mainly because of the innocence of your words and how true they were! I also loved at the end, how you clarified that you were not a transvestite! Very funny!
But, I do have to say, be careful. I do agree with some other reviewers, you used stereotypes too straightly I felt, and even though you made it seem that transvestites are versitile and their lifestyle somewhat more efficient because of it, not all transvestites have it that easy. Some may, but many don't. Even though this was humorous, just remember that it really may not be all that it seems!
Best wishes for future writing!
RedLeaf
Thanks Jas! I just realized your sig. You know once he said "They can all die in an explosion for all I care." "What about Holly J?" "Except her!" Good ol' Bish...I know Degrassi is highly off topic, but I wanted to say that. xD
Annie darlin',
I don't care what anyone says. This was hilarious. My school has 122 members in the Gay-Straight-Trans-Alliance and my best friend's sister is a transvestite and I still found this funny. Keep doin' yo thang.
~Me
@DanielRichard, thanks for reviewing. I'd like to point out that most of these aren't my actual opinions and should not be treated as such, but I see your point. As for the whole homosexuals and transgenders being viewed as caricatures and not real people in high school and such...one of my best friends is gay. I see him as an actual person. One of my best friends on YWS is bi, and I see her as an actual person. The way this is taken by individual people has to do with perspective, not age.
@occasionalpessimist I like cookies! *follows cookie as it slowly drifts towards post* I'm also really glad you didn't find this offensive.
I completely agree with Kyllorac. Kudos to a well-spoken and honest review.
I think the reason why many people on this site found this amusing is because there are quite a few young teens and high schoolers who see it as unique and humorous, and a bit taboo. However, once you grow into young adults, you will probably meet more and more people who are either homosexual/transgender and begin to see them as real people, and not just a caricature. Once you have done that, your mind will open up.
To me, this piece was the same as if you had written about why black people are better than everyone because they are good athletes and eat fried chicken, or why Asians are better because they are all smart, or why Jews are better because they are rich, etc. Even though this was meant to be a "positive" spin on transvestites, it was still mildly offensive because it is essentially one big stereotype, and making a joke about someone else's way of life, something they might find to be a serious, and even painful issue at times.
I realize no harm was meant by this, and it was done with the intention of bringing an issue to light in a humorous and favorable context. However, the fact that you generalize so much and put an entire demographic in one box is, in itself, the type of unfair mindset that probably inspired you to write this in the first place.
So. This article is one of the funniest I've read that follows this perspective.
Not just funny, but it set me thinking. I mean, I'm a transvestite, but I've never actually noticed the difference. I've never actually had had to notice the difference. This article made me think, but it wasn't too ponderous.
I liked it, definitely. Keep writing; these type of posts keep thought alive. (Without sacrificing humor.)
- Alexandra
P.S. Bribe to read my (only one) post. Cookie? [waves virtual cookie]
Thanks, Ben!
Haha good one Razzy.
@Kyllorac - Apologies, but I thought people who believe they were born the wrong gender were transgenders, not transvestites. Either way, sorry you found this insulting.
@Kiicoh - You can't judge all my writing by one piece. For future reference, never tell somebody to stop writing. Ever. Be it me or anybody else.
For both, I'd like to add that most people wouldn't read it if it was 100% serious. I'll admit I could have made it more over the top, which may have helped, so again...apologies!
@NepoGirl - If you weigh the reviews that say it sucks against the ones that say it doesn't, you find it's 3:8 ratio. So the people who found the need to tell me I was doing something wrong are outweighed by the people who thought it was funny. Besides, we don't have a dislike button.
I really enjoyed reading this, it's very different, and I love your perspective!
Keep on writing!
MissMadHatter
This really brought more thought into a subject that nobody wants to think about.
So kudos, you should write more. This was awsome!
Why does this have so many like when almost all the reviews say that this sucks? I'm just curious...
, Nepo!
Lots of
Great job, RazHuni!
I loved it! It's hilarious. Definitely a compromise between the two, as you said
You're obviously good at writing comedy
Hahaha
Gosh, these things cause a lot of controversy, no?
Loved it
I'm editing this for content, being that it went outside the guidelines of a review.
I didn't even need to read half of this to know that this piece is horrid, steriotypical, and insulting. Don't continue writing, for the sake of everyone else, please.
In some ways, you succeeded. In others, you failed miserably.
You did well in being over-the-top and playing with gender stereotypes, but at the same time, you played those stereotypes too straight. As a result, while you make fun of the male and female genders, you shoehorn transvestites into even more stereotypical roles and trivialize their way of life.
I cross-dress myself on occasion, and I know a fair number of transvestites, and if they were to read this, most of them would be extremely offended and outraged. Many transvestites believe that they were born the wrong sex, that they are not themselves while adhering to societal gender roles, and that one of the genders is their "true" gender. Most are constantly plagued with doubts and fears of discrimination, much like homosexuals, and many keep their transvestite habits secret from even their closest and most trusted loved ones. And even though they act or dress or otherwise become the gender they believe they were meant to be, they battle constant guilt that they're doing something frowned upon and hiding it from others, and also fear that they will be discovered; wearing the clothing of the opposite gender is not a trivial matter that they decide to do on a whim.
But unlike homosexuality, transvestites do not have the benefit of widespread publicity and campaigns that focus on making the transvestite a part of the accepted mainstream. And before you counter that the growing acceptance of homosexuality results in transvestites becoming more accepted as many homosexuals are transvestites, you should know that transvestites generally do not consider themselves homosexuals. Because they believe they were born to the wrong gender, sexual orientation is generally relative to their believed gender, else physical sex.
It never hurts to do in-depth research on the demographics you include in a piece, especially when including such a marginalized, and often ridiculed, demographic.
In short, this piece trivializes transvestites as a joke, which is an extremely pervasive and pernicious stereotype.
That said, as far as male and female gender stereotypes were concerned, you did a good job. It's obvious from the over-the-top tone that this piece isn't meant to be taken seriously by either gender.
Aet, Vern is absolutely right. You don't insult the person you review, and by comically insulting both sexes, this shouldn't bother you.
Vern, glad you like it!
Everyone else, thanks so much!
This was freakin' awesome. Hilarious.

I don't really have a real review for you- sorry. This was just amazing. I love the humor, and it's actually all extremely logical if you think about it. You might think of even lengthening on this a bit- I think you can get a bit more out of it.
Great job.
-Coral-
This made me smile.
Like everyone else, it was a serious and funny post. This is the first argument that I read that really didn't make (most) people mad and try to counter. You do make some valid points and they make sense to the reader, which I like. :]
In truth, transvestite used (USED!!!) to freak me out because it was so strange seeing someone dressing up as the opposite sex and if you had to talk to them, you didn't want to offend them by saying the wrong thing (like sir or miss). Now I just see them more as the public then trying to make them seem like some new species. Your points here might remind me that there is no need to worry when I have to talk to them because maybe they want to be recognized as the other sex. Good job!
It's called a little fun. And it's meant to comically insult both sexes. I think she did much better than either of them. This I found to achieve that. Also insulting the person you review, isn't good etiquette.
Here I thought this couldn't annoy anyone.
Lastly good job Annie, I think other than this comment you've achieved your point.
sauce: post797449.html
Fail.
Oh, and you managed to insult transvestites at the same time as being a hypocrite.
~Aet "the internet is for lulz" Lindling
Thanks guys! Delmarria, first off, welcome to the site! Second, I found the two typos, so thank you again. I hate typos with a burning passion. xD I typed this with my itouch, too. I was trying to be funny, and at the same time make some valid points for the two users who posted the things I linked at the end. I also sort of wanted to give an example of how they could have made theirs more funny and less sexist by making fun of both genders a bit, and completely counter the subject with some valid points.
Oh I loved this! Like the above reviewer said, it's sort of serious and funny at the same time. It's a little one-sided though, and if you want this to be more serious (for a magazine, as an example) you may want a different tone and change the questions to statements. I'm not sure about the overall purpose ( to be serious or not), but it's all up to you.
and some other typo in the same paragraph. The only things I would change would be the typos
Otherwise, it's very good. Keep writing!!!
... Give me a moment to compose myself...
Egh-erm... This is quite simply the BEST thing I have ever read on YWS. I loved this! Mostly because I couldn't stop laughing through the whole thing. Honestly, this is written very well and approaches a valid point about the transvestite gender. But that's what makes it so funny! Well, at least to me. I think this is simply amazing and you should be mightily proud of writing it, whether you wrote it for actuality or comedy (I, personally, would have wrote something like this kind of in between). My favorite part is the versatility part. I just thought that part was great.
