In Poetry

I believed you were a blessing
A holy knight sent to mend and protect.
The hallelujah of your lips on my forehead
Being all I needed to get by
for just another day.
But closer and closer you got to me
And easier it became
To see clearly, your rusted armor
And the sharpened sword you held, pointed towards my chest.
But by then it was too late,
You had done your damage.
You had left your scars,
Small marks remaining on my body and on my mind,
Bastardizing your holiness
And destroying the bond which we had once shared.

Cool, I like it. It is very easy to read. It is strong and soulful. I find it nice how you portray the girl finding a 'perfect man', then finding he is false. It is very interesting the way you composed this. Great job!

My favorite section is:

So this is easy enough to understand, and I could pretty much guess at what this poem was going to be about by the title. Like so often seems to happen, a girl falls for a guy she is convinced is perfect. Either it's infatuation that leads her to believe this false assumption, or maybe the guy mislead her into believing he was perfect (which is more likely)

You do a good job pacing it. The poem is evenly paced the whole way through, carefully describing how the speaker believes in this man's "holiness", then showing how her mind changes, and eventually condemning this man as a very bad person.

You did a good job accomplishing what you wanted to accomplish. I wonder what his side of the story is.

I'm glad it wasn't confusing at all, I aim for simple. Thank you for reviewing. (: I wonder what his side of the story is too, he could never really get it straight. Ha ha.

This is quite interesting! It's pure and soulful. The message is clear and precise. In my opinion your choice of words conveys simple images that seems to add to the simplicity of the whole poem. This is good. I think there should be more to the poem. It seems to leave the reader unsatisfied.
It's a nice poem but could be improved upon. It's clear you have a talent. Besides, simplicity is the way to go! Tend your flame!

Thank you ! I aim for simple.
I just couldn't think of what else I could add without straying from the main point, I wasn't too satisfied with the ending myself. Thank you for the review !

It's like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story.
