Why are boys so cute?
I've always wondered that.
It's the girls that get picked on,
We get called ugly and fat.
Boys are usually confident,
But girls don't work that way.
Boys don't care what other people think,
That's all I have to say.
I am still wondering,
What makes boys so cute.

My refute: Some girls are gay
This is my refute - I think that it's unfair to generalise all girls and all boys as thinking the same way. We are not limited to our gender. Boys can be self conscious. Girls can be confident. However, society usually reacts badly to this, so I guess in a way, we are limited to our gender, but only as far as our society pushes us to be.
I mean, I doubt you expected an analysis of the social implications of your poem but I really think it's important to think about this, especially since your poem literally embodies the thoughts that confine people to the gender they identify by. Thinking like this - this is why boys are 'so cute', this is why boys are 'so confident', at least in the minds of girls. Because society raises boys to be confident and uncaring, and girls to be sensitive and self conscious. Because how often do you see representation in media of a self conscious guy compared to a self conscious girl? How often do you see representation in media of an uncaring girl, in comparison to an uncaring guy?
It is so uncommon for girls to be uncaring that they get noted for it. And when they're noted for it, they're criticised for being overconfident, arrogant, and up themselves. And when guys are self-conscious, they get criticised for being oversensitive... and girly. Yeah. Just think about it - that's my refute.
The poem was okay, though, I found it hard to read without thinking what I just wrote above. Simple rhyme and flow. Would be nice if it wasn't a step backwards in gender equality.

As far as composition goes, it's not a spectacular poem, in my opinion, but it's better than "Red solo cup!" Anything's better than that, I guess
When writing a poem that's not elegant or "impressive," I feel it's always important to make it rhyme and flow in a simple manner, which you've done here. It takes something that's otherwise ordinary, and gives it that little twist which makes it fun and interesting to read. You carry this rhyming throughout the poem as well.
Okay, I'm going to throw out my little shpill here, but this is a direct result of the Women's Rights movement. Let me explain. You see, women in America were oppressed, and they needed to fight for the right to vote and work and all of that. It was important. But I fear that they've taken it to far, and now the role of a woman has been demoralized. They've worked so hard to be just like men, that's what's happening. But, they're not men, and so living in a world with men but being unable to look and act like them causes problems.
There used to be so much respect for women. You never would call a girl fat, even if she was, because it just wasn't right. They were respected. Almost taboo. The Holy Grail, if you want to put it into Monty Python perspective. But as they've become more integrated into the world of men, this has been lost, and that's why I feel that they are now being treated like they are.
Did you know, the suicide rate is actually higher for boys, than girls? Boys actually do care what other people think, it's just a different kind of caring. While women still work and go to school and such, there is a lot being demanded of young men today, and they aren't being prepared for it properly, so I definitely feel that they are conscious of what others think.
For girls, though, it's never a silent thing.
Personally, I wouldn't consider myself cute, at all. I've been called cute before, but I don't see how it fits. Cute is a little rabbit with fluffy fur and floppy ears. But, I guess I'm not a girl, so I wouldn't know ;D

I have to disagree with this. No, the Women's Rights movement did not take it too far. Gender Equality is still a problem. Women are not striving to become men, mate. The problem is NOT that women are not men, or that they can't 'look and act like [men]'. Female and male are acknowledged as two completely different genders. The ultimate goal is for these genders to be treated equally. That means legally AND socially, the latter of which is the real problem now.
Firstly, how exactly does a man act like? What you said literally proves the fact that gender equality has not been reached yet. Men do not substantially have a different mindset to women. We are all humans and are all capable of thinking in different and similar ways. So there is no logic behind thinking like a man or woman, it's really just the effect of societal values.
Also, did you just say that there used to be so much respect for women? Is that a joke? Because it made me laugh. Oh yeah, because no voting rights and the law prohibiting you from owning land totally equates to being respected. Maybe they weren't insulted on their LOOKS, but women on a whole were being insulted on their intelligence. Also, just because it was considered disrespectful to insult a woman's looks doesn't mean people didn't do it - especially to woman of no social value. So no, women were not respected. They were not acknowledged as being as capable as men, and that is why they were treated as they were - maybe with nice manners, but also as an object rather than a person.
Sorry for I sounded hostile. I understand this poem isn't exactly ideal for basing your opinions on, but honestly, your review was nearly as bad as the poem in terms of backstepping gender equality. Also, what hardships exactly do young men have to suffer that women don't... Problems are rarely based on gender unless it has to do with gender equality. Everyone has problems. Unless it's something such as sexim, it doesn't really make sense to relate problems to someone's gender.
I just felt the need to comment on your question about the hardships men face that women do not:
Some are child custody after divorce and false accusation of rape. Women usually win custody battles after divorce, even when the father fights as fervently for custody as the mother does. Why? I don't know. But that's how it is, and that does count as a disadvantage/hardship.
False accusations of rape are also crippling for men. It's usually the accused man that must provide a strong defense against rape accusations than the accuser. Plus, as more people gather up against victim-blaming (which I do not support, mind you, victims should not be seen as the bad guys), it is becoming more tough to prove innocence. And remember that I am only talking about FALSE accusations. Even if, in the end, the truth comes out, that man's reputation is in worse shape than before. Women face specific problems, but do not, for one minute, be deceived into thinking that men do not have their own specific problems as well.
Not saying it's okay to hit a woman by any means and I don't agree with it unless it's life or death. But I see it this way when someone does. I ask this question, did the woman hit him first? If the woman feels tough enough to take a swing at a bigger man, then she needs to be tough enough to take the responding blow that she will recieve from some men who think if she's man enough to hit a man, then she is man enough to be hit back. Sexism? Women have sexism issues just like men do.....don't for one second try to pull some crap that it's all men or it's mostly men.....because you're all crazy if you expect it's true. The law here in America is all a woman has to do is say a man hit a woman and he goes to jail until further notice whether it's true or not and evidence is provided or not. The woman just says it, and it's mandatory to take the man to jail and it's also mandatory that once the handcuffs are placed on the man, no matter if the woman changes her mind, the man will be processed into a cell that day or night. I'm not saying it's right, I've never hit a woman and don't plan to...but women are just as sexist about men as vice versa. Don't play some pity game for a gender just because you can...and don't kid anyone because you're all full of shit if you say you don't know that you can. In most criminal investigations where men and versus women, I don't have actual numbers and percentages but look it up and I damn well bet you the men loses more often than not, whether it's truly his fault or not, right or wrong. Women want to cry about sexism and yet quite a few aren't above using said "advantages" to their well.....advantage. BOTH genders have sexism faults. Quit making it seem so one sided, because you're hypocrites if you do so.

Hey, interesting rhyming. After your simple but secure "argument", I pretty much agree. I mean, not specifying my gender, but yeah. This was short, seemingly random, and simple, yet mind blowing. or maybe thats just becuz its latish and I'm too tired to tell good poetry from bad poetry. But yeah, I enjoyed it. Good poem.
