Lilac

In Poems

Prettiest of the trees that grows,

With your colors of lavender and purple.

Your delightful scent brings me

pleasure beyond belief.

I want to fill my house

with your flowers,

I want to breath in that

sweet scent forever.

I want to be able to wear a crown of your flowers,

and a dress of those leaves.

.I want to lay on your flowers,

the petals so soft and gentle.

Your leaves so green and fresh,

to make a pillow for my head.

To have your beauty be all my own,

Oh, to be the fairy of the Lilac tree!

Wicked here for a review c:

I love this poem! It is very short, but I tend to like that about poetry. I enjoy the first person narrative, as it makes me feel like I am sharing your emotions and feelings about lilacs. It has a very warm feeling to it, and I feel glad to have read it. The love of a flower is so innocent and simple, I feel as though I have seen a personal part of you in this poem.

That being said, I have never smelt or even seen a lilac. I wish your poem had gone more in depth with the senses so that I could have gotten a better idea about what a lilac is. How does a lilac smell? How do the petals feel? Is there anything mysterious about it? What would the dress of leaves look like? It would also be terribly interesting to read if this descriptive element was added.

Not terribly sure what else to write without nit-picking the entire piece.
Overall, room for improvement (isn't there always), but I enjoyed it! Well done!

Legacy here for a review.

I like the content of the story, even though I dislike lilacs (blame my mom for that one). Anyways, I've never seen the content displayed in such a way so congratulations.

You put "I want to breath in that sweet scent forever." when really it should be "I want to breathe in that sweet scent forever." (Just a small spelling error).

This is in the format of a free verse as you have no regular rhyme or meter (which is perfectly okay). Most people are lazy when they put their poetry into free verse but you weren't. You still had the content and all of it went together because of the imagery you include in this poem.

Overall, good job. You just have a spelling error to correct and then it looks like a final draft to me. Legacy.

Hello! Irid here with a review.

I just wanna say that I love lilacs, they're one of my favorite flowers. :)

Now, I really like your topic, but it's kind of simple. You have lilacs, which could literally branch out into a bunch of other things. You did include things like sight and smell, but elaborate off of that. A lilac can be such a broad topic and you could definitely go off from that and make it a lot longer and add more imagery.

Overall, I really enjoyed this poem! I can feel and imagine how you are embracing the lilacs and just wanting to be one with that flower, which I think is absolutely cool, but as I said, there can be a lot more added to it.

I apologize for this rather short review, this is really all I had to say. Thank you for sharing and this was a really good read!

~also loves lilacs~ Ours need pruning really badly, though, they barely flowered and they're already done!

(Sorry I don't have any real commentary on your poem. I just had to read it because of the title and description!)

A true poet does not bother to be poetical. Nor does a nursery gardener scent his roses.
