The Elemental survival games
Chapter 6 London Is Not Safe
Saturday 21st of September 2013
Isabella’s eyebrows clawed their way down every closer to her eyes whilst her face became serious and tense. “Ben.” He looked at her with a bit of worry as well due to the recent news report. “We need to be careful, okay? This is the creator’s doing, this is where the survival game starts.”
Ben slowly nodded his head in response realising the seriously deadly situation at hand. “Yeah, okay I got it.” He gulped as the air grew thicker by the second. The silence filled the air.
Isabella silently thought to herself. “The criminals are the top two-thousand most dangerous in the United Kingdom and the creator brought them all to the south east of England, mainly London. Which means that all of the elementalists must be in London.” She grinned as she recognized that she was one step closer finding out the identities of the other elementalists. “But first things first.” She glanced at Ben who was busy observing the news report with his eyes glued onto the television waiting for more information. “I need to kill as many criminals as possible, we don’t need any and I doubt Ben want’s any, so I’ll kill as many as possible so that the other elementalists can’t claim that many, hehe and then Ben will be sure to love me!.” She giggled quietly to herself trying to contain her pleasure from the thoughts of protecting Ben.
Ben caught wind of her laughing. “Um, what are you laughing about?” He inquired.
Isabella chuckling away smiled at Ben. “Oh… it’s nothing really just remembering something funny that happened a while ago.”
Ben with his left arm resting raised one of his eyebrows at of interest. “Oh, so what was it that happe-”
Before Ben could finish his sentence a huge bang came from the front door. “HEY! IS ANYBODY IN THERE!? QUICK OPEN IT UP, I-I’M BEING CHASED! PLEASE DON’T LEAVE ME OUT HERE TO DIE!” Ben and Isabella were both extremely startled by it as they rushed towards the door, Ben looked through the blinds on the window to the right of the door and saw a man around the age of thirty five. He had very short brown hair, was five feet ten inches, had hazel eyes and was wearing a tattered black waist coat and jeans. “PLEASE I KNOW SOMEONE IS IN THERE! PLEASE JUST HELP ME I’LL DO ANYTHING!” The man’s face looked extremely distraught and absolutely petrified.
Ben observed this and turned to Isabella who was waiting looking through the closed blinds now as well. “Hey I think the escaped criminals are after him! W-we’ve got to let him in here!”
Isabella strongly disagreed with Ben’s request. “I’m sorry Ben, but I can’t let you do that.”
Ben looking perplexed and a bit annoyed demanded “But why!? Just look at the poor man.” His eyes darted back towards him whilst Isabella glared at him angrily. “He’s terrified!” Ben declared.
Isabella stated. “If we let him in here then we’re probably going to get dragged into his own problems. Didn’t you hear what the news station just advised us!? He might be lying!”
Ben gritted his teeth as he thought to himself “I-I want to help, but Isabella’s right this could be dangerous.”
The man who was still knocking on the door rapidly and hard collapsed to his knees as he started sobbing “please…I don’t know what will happen to my family if I die right here and now, my son is currently ill. And he needs my support, so please just open up I’ll give you anything in return!”
Ben was shocked by what the man had just blared out, as memories of Ben’s father dying flooded through his brain. He clenched his hand into a fist very tightly. “I have to help him.”
Isabella looked anxious but covered it up with a smile “okay, if that’s what you want then we’ll let him in, just until the people who are chasing after him leave the road.”
Ben nodded now feeling like a generous person he smirked a bit as he rushed to the door and opened it wide up. “Hey come on get in here quickly!” He urged the man.
The man looked up now filled with hope and joy nodded his head as he scampered inside “thank you so much!” Ben hastily slammed the door behind the man. “I can’t even begin to express my gratitude.” He exclaimed whilst on the floor attempting the catch his breath.
Ben replied back. “No it’s fine. So who is it and why are you being chased.”
The man answered. “I-.“ he wheezed heavily. “I was just, going for a walk and then I saw a group of around ten guys come out of nowhere and they started vandalising cars and the property, before long they saw me and started chasing me down like a pack of wolves chase down a poor sheep. I then came down this road and was calling out for help but on one seemed to let me inside their house. And then this house was the last one I was gonna try here, and thankfully you let me, I mean it. I owe you guys, big time!” The man was coughing from where had been sprinting all over the neighbourhood.
Ben looked towards Isabella. “Hey Isabella close all of the curtains, we don’t want these guys know that umm.” He looked down at the man awkwardly. “I’m sorry I forgot to ask what your name is. Mine’s Ben and her name is Isabella.” Ben gestured his hand towards her. The man looked at Ben and then Isabella who both greeted him with a smile.
The man responded with. “My name’s Joe.”
Ben knelt down. “Here come take my hand and on sit up, you don’t wanna just lay there on the floor.”
Joe responded back. “Oh yeah okay, thanks.”
Ben hauled him up to his feet. “I’ll go get you a drink, you look thirsty. Is water okay? It’s the only thing we really have at the moment.”
Joe thankfully replied back. “Yeah…water, should be good thanks.”
Isabella was skimming along the house with great haste, closing up all of the curtains leaving the house dim and dark on the inside. Before arriving back to Joe where she started. “Okay, that should do it.” She caught her breath back quickly and professionally.
Joe admired her stamina. “Wow your pretty athletically fit for someone your age.”
Isabella responded back. “Oh, ha thanks I guess.” She glanced towards Ben in the kitchen retrieving the glass of water and thought to herself. “Good, it seems he’s gotten a bit better at controlling his ice powers, he hasn’t frozen the water. It’d be bad if Joe saw the power.” She glared out Joe who was oblivious to the serious yet cautious stare Isabella was giving him. “We don’t know if he’s an elementalist yet, but I can’t sense any elemental energy emitting from him, so we should be good, I guess.”
Ben strolled back to his guest as he handed him the drink. “Here drink up, you need it.”
He glimpsed up. “Thanks, I owe you a big one aha.”
Ben replied back. “It’s fine really, it’s not causing us any harm having you here for a bit.” He chuckled away lightening up the mood.
Isabella still serious and feeling tense remembered that she hadn’t closed the windows and curtains on the second floor of the house. “Hey Ben I’ll go finish closing the curtains on the second floor.
Ben nodded in response. “Yeah okay you do that.” Isabella darted upstairs quickly leaving Ben and Joe on their own. “Here come into the kitchen and sit down, you must be tired after running away from those guys.” He walked into the kitchen with Joe following closely behind in pursuit.
He then noticed Ben placing the front door keys onto the sideboard, he carried on walking forward before coming to a halt and sitting down on the leather-back kitchen chair. “Ah! This comfy! Just what I need after running all the way from Kingswood St.”
Ben astounded exclaimed his reaction. “Wow, you ran all the way from there to here? I don’t blame you for being tired then.” He turned the television on seeking out more information on the current situation of the two-thousand escaped criminals.
Both Ben and Joe watched eagerly for any significant information whilst the news reporters were listing how many criminals estimated were on certain streets and areas. The middle-aged new reporter exclaimed hastily. “There have also been several reports of a band of around fifteen criminals running amok heading towards Holmoaks street.
Joe turned his head to Ben’s who was terrified. “Wait, isn’t that the road we’re on!?”
Ben yelled a whimper back as he stood up abruptly. “Jesus it is! I-w-what do we do!?”
Joe put up his hands and was lowering them, attempting to calm him down. “Look, they don’t know where I am, for all they know I could have kept running down the street or gone down another, and there’s like a hundred houses on the street. The odds of them knocking on this door are slim to none, trust me on this.”
Ben now realizing the chances had quietened down a bit as he sat back down and regained a trace of his calmness. “Yeah, you’re right the chances of them getting here are miniscule.”
Joe expressed himself as he pretended to be calm himself in order to calm Ben down despite the visible nerves getting the best of him. “Exactly, I’ve got an idea actually, let’s keep an eye out, I’ll keep watch through the curtains in the lounge and you can peer through the window on the stairs, how’s that sound to you?”
Ben nodded his head with some shimmers of determination. “Yeah that sounds like a good plan to me, I’ll do my best.” He got up and scampered up half-way the stairs as he guarded over the window keeping his head partially visible to outsiders.
As Joe stood up and went to his guarding spot he noticed where Ben had laid the front door keys earlier. He grinned widely as he silently whisked them into his hand before putting them into his pocket and entering the lounge. He saw two criminals strolling by on the pavement. “I see them walking by, stay quiet…” He gently whispered with caution.
Ben awaited to see them for himself as he kept an eye through his window. He then spotted them pacing by looking observant for Joe. One was around thirty years old that was bald and the other was African American looking around thirty five years old with a goatee. Both of the thuggish men were well-built and judging by Ben over six feet tall. Ben edged his head away from the window, too concerned and uneasy to keep watch anymore. He lingered for about fifteen more seconds before poking his head around the window again. He spied on them again as he caught a glimpse of them turning around the corner of the road and continuing on with their search. “Phew, they’re gone Joe!” Ben exclaimed as he leaped down the stairs ecstatically filled with relief.
Joe stepped towards Ben now relieved. “Ah thank God, well I’ll be on my way in a bit then. I wanna give another ten minutes though or so, you know just incase.”
Ben nodded in response. “Yeah that’s fine with me, right Isabella?” He called up the stairs asking for her answer.
Isabella shouted back down the stairs. “Yeah that’s fine with me. I’m going to go to the toilet, put the kettle on and make me cup of tea would you sweety?” She asked kindly with a bit of flirt at the end.
Ben blushed a bit as he stuttered replying back. “O-oh y-yeah sure!”
Isabella called back down the stairs. “Hehehe thanks darling.” She strutted towards the bathroom joyful that Ben was out of harm’s way.
Joe smirked as he gently slapped Ben on the back startling him. “Oh so I’m guessing she’s your girlfriend right? And here I thought she was your sister at first ahahaha!” He was bursting out laughing.
Ben’s face turned bright red like a tomato. “No it’s not like that! She’s just a friend!” He hastily proclaimed.
Joe slipped his hands into his pockets stating sarcastically. “Oh yeah sureee I believe every word you say aha. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about, I mean this might sound weird coming from someone my age but she looks pretty fine to me, consider yourself lucky mate.”
Ben chuckled away too himself now as a partial grin emerged over his face remembering Isabella’s attractiveness. “Heh…yeah I guess your kinda right there. I’ll go put the kettle on now then.” He exclaimed as he strolled into the kitchen.
Joe’s face went blank with little expression as he whispered to himself. “It’s almost time…”
Meanwhile Isabella was in the bathroom she was thinking to herself. “I’m still not too sure if we can trust that man, Joe. He seems edgy to me, but then again he would be nervous after getting chased by criminals.” She stood up as she pulled her cotton undergarment and flushed the toilet. “Wait…something’s not right here. Didn’t the news report and Joe say that there was a whole group of criminals, and we only saw two of them walk by…!”
Joe pulled the keys out from his pocket and rushed over to the door. Ben caught wind of this and was quite vexed. “Wha-Joe what are you doing?”
Joe inserted the key into the keyhole and turned the door handle. “Heh, you’re such a naïve fool…Ben!” Joe slammed open the door revealing a whole crew of middle aged thugs. They came pouring into the house, around fifteen of them as they charged towards Ben. Terrified he attempted to turn around and run away but the thugs were as fast and vicious as cheetahs, they closed in on Ben and pinned him down to the floor restraining him.
Joe closed the door behind him as he lazily roamed his way towards Ben taking out a cigarette and lighting it. The two thugs captivating Ben were the ones he saw earlier as they held Ben facing up on his knees holding both his arms. He saw the horrific sight of a over a dozen armed thugs inside his home, some holding conventional weapons like pipes, baseball bats, knives and a couple clasping small yet extremely lethal handguns. He whimpered out. “J-Joe wh-what the hell is this!?”
Joe continued shuffling towards Ben until he was towering right over him, moments later he swept his foot up stabbing the air with it and soon after Ben’s chin. He hollered aggressively “You’re only allowed to talk too when we say so, understand!?”
Blood burst out from Ben’s mouth and his chin bone cracked, it stung more ten times worse than a bee sting. As his head then sobbed down, looking at the floor, he quietly thought. “Shit! That hurt! Damnit! Why!? Why is this happening!? Am I going to die here? Wha-what do I do? Someone please help me…”
Joe spoke to his gang. “Okay guys I’ll kill this pathetic little bitch right now, a few of you go upstairs and take out this prick’s girlfriend and then we ransack the house and take what’s valuable, got it!?”
One of the thugs spoke out. “No way! This tiny fucker’s got a girlfriend!?”
Joe abruptly shifted his head towards the thug. “Yeah and she’s actually a good looker too!” All of the thugs started snickering and chuckling away making sarcastic comments about her and Ben.
A thought suddenly zapped Ben’s mind as he howled out. “No! Wait!” He clasped the thug’s attention. “You don’t want to go up there! She’ll kill you! Please just leave now!”
Some of the thugs resumed mocking and snickering whilst Joe looked amazingly unimpressed. “Oi, I thought I told you not to talk unless told to do so!” He was about to pounce Ben however he was stopped when all of the lights turned off and blackness swallowed up the room engulfing it. “WH-what the fuck happened to the lights!?”
One of the startled thugs spoke out. “Damn the curtains are all drawn, I can barely see a thing!”
A few seconds later a deranged sadistic laugh echoed throughout the house. Ben immediately recognized the laugh as memories of Isabella brutally slaughtering the murder in the alley way from before. His body hairs stood up and his pupils widened, he started twitching and went as pale fresh snow. He gulped as he breathed out. “She’s here…”
Immediately after he said that Isabella ran up from behind a thug standing in the doorway to the lounge, the way Ben was facing. She lept up with a hatchet in hand and severed it right through one of the criminal’s necks as the head dropped down thudding the floor. The blood shoot out of the criminal’s neck bludgeoning the ceiling and painting Isabella’s cheeks and body in a bright red.
Joe span around seeing the horrifically brutal sight. “WHAT THE FUCK!?!? SHOOT! EVERYONE SHOOT HER NOW!” He whipped out a 357. Revolver as the criminals drew their 9mm bullet handguns discharging all of their ammunition towards Isabella. She tugged on the decapitated criminal drawing his body in front of hers ceasing the deadly bullets from reaching her soft and delicate skin. Another one of the criminals shouted out. “A human body shield!? Who the hell is this damn bitch?!” Ben hid kneeled down trying not to get filled with lead bullets.
Isabella waited for the clips to be emptied and when they were she looked around the body as she plucked a small dagger from her a belt around her, hurling it at a thug as it lodged right into his neck. The criminal gagged as his tears expelled from his eyes and blood exploded from his mouth and neck, he slumped to the floor forming a deep puddle of blood. Isabella shrieked out. “WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING TO BEN!?”
Joe and the others started retreating backwards as he commanded. “HEY ONE OF YOU GUYS GRAB THE BOY! WE’LL USE HIM AS A HOSTAGE!”
Ben heard word of this as he looked up terrifyingly shocked he dashed towards the kitchen table sliding underneath it. He didn’t manage to get far though as one of the criminals grabbed Ben’s left leg. “I got him! You’re coming with me you punk!”
Ben yelped out. “Ah, g-get off of me!” Ben on his back threw a kick with his right leg accidentally commencing the light blue glow. The kick landed onto the criminal’s face freezing it entirely. Ben hadn’t realised what he had done yet as he was too persistent on scrambling back to the centre of the table. As he twisted around he realised that he had frozen the criminal’s face. He thought to himself. “Holy crap my ice powers happened unintentionally there again…wait he’s not moving, di-did I just kill him!?”
Isabella pressed onwards unfortunately Joe had reloaded his gun and was blasting all of the deafening bloodthirsty bullets he had in a pathetic attempt to stop Isabella’s onslaught as she merely dodged them easily. “Wha-how is she doing that!?” Isabella kicked the decapitated head from before knocking John down onto the criminal Ben had just frozen as the ice-covered head was demolished, shattering into a thousand pieces.
Isabella still advancing was stopped as a thug dashed towards her swinging a baseball bat into the air. “Ha take this!” He bellowed as he slammed it down. Isabella side-stepped out of the way dodging the incoming threat, she then reached for the plastic kettle Ben had put water in for tea that now contained hellish water flipping the lid of in an instant as she struck it around the criminal’s head allowing the boiling scorching hot water inside to pour onto his face as it seared through his skin. He whelped out in pain. “FUC-” Before being stopped unexpectedly by Isabella whirling her foot around in a roundhouse kick from smashing it against the seared thug’s face, knocking him down the ground dazed.
Joe caught wind of Ben’s whimpering under the table as he reached for him. “Get the fuck over here now you little shit!” He grabbed onto Ben’s t-shirt tugging him closer towards him. However without delay Ben’s whimpering and shaking stopped as he grew aggressive drilling Joe’s right cheek with a solid fist knocking him back. He heard the insane voice inside of him again whispering. “Oho that was a good punch! Ahehehe!” He cackled away as Ben resumed back to his normal self. He shook his head as he became confused at what just happened.
Joe’s right cheek froze and so did his hand from where he had gripped Ben. “AAAAHHHH!” He writhed in pain as his whole left hand transformed into ice that connected to the ground locking him in place, he was shivering and shaking at the same time. “H-ho-how the hell did you do that!?”
He darted his attention to his left as Isabella came closing in on him and Ben. “Ben I’m nearly there to protect you! Just hold out for a bit longer!” She was again held up by another rampant criminal this time with a lead pipe, he swung it from the right and Isabella caught it with her left hand with miniscule effort.
The startled criminal was almost speechless. “Wh-how the hell did she do that!?”
Isabella yawned as she stabbed the criminal in the chest with a kitchen knife puncturing his left lung, before stealing the left pipe with her left hand thrusting it into the air and clashing it down fracturing the criminal’s skull forcing him to smash down into the floor, instantly knocking him out.
Joe’s once violent intrusive and threatening voice and been torn down to a mere snivelling weep. “Who the fuck are you people?”
Ben’s attention however suddenly drawn towards Isabella as a criminal who had been hiding ran up from behind her, read to strike. “ISABELLA BEHIND YOU!”
Isabella noticed Ben’s warning as she closed her eyes focusing on how close the threat behind her was. After a second she re-opened them. “Hmph nice try!” She proclaimed whilst giggling softly. She commenced a cart wheel move to her right and as she was completely upside down she slammed her feet together ensnaring the thug’s face between them and continuing on with the cartwheel with impeccable timing she hammered the criminal’s head onto the sideboard, knocking him out instantaneously. She quietly resumed on with her march. By this time all of the other thugs had managed to reload their firearms as they all aimed them at Isabella. She grinned as she planned her next move of attack but came to a sudden halt.
The criminal that was scorched by the kettle water from before was still conscious as he swung a baseball bat around knocking Isabella down onto her back. He ordered. “NOW DAMNIT SHOOT THIS BITCH!”
The four criminals armed with small handheld firearms dashed towards her as the scorched criminal held her down. Ben yelled out. “ISABELLA! NO WAIT STOP!”
The criminals snickered to themselves as one of them masochistically said. “Goodnight and sleep tight, princess!” All four of the criminals fired a full clip (ten bullets) of 9mm lead into her precious yet resilient body.
However their snickering was soon put to a sudden halt as they realised that Isabella hadn’t been harmed at all. Isabella had caught ten bullets between her teeth, firmly locked in place. And then fifteen bullets in each hand all spread out between her fingers. The once intense and roaring room was now filled with deadly silence, steaming smoke from the guns and a flock of baffled facial expressions. Isabella still keeping her teeth locked down with the ten bullets in place chuckled away. She whispered out a muffle. “Better luck next time, I win.” She immediately leaped to her feet as she swung her left arm behind her letting loose the two bullets kept between her thumb and index finger letting the bullets roam free into the burnt criminal’s face.
Joe yelled out now with his regained violence. “Shoot her again! She has no room to catch anymore bullets, however the fuck she did it that is!”
One of the criminals backing away up against the wall whimpered out like a vulnerable and fragile pup. “B-but sir we’re out of ammo…”
Joe was startled as he began to accept defeat of the situation, he tugged and tugged on his frozen hand, stuck in place to the floor as he begged the god’s for a miracle.
Isabella still pressing on with her vicious yet clean assault stepped forward as she spat out the ten bullets in her mouth with immense force, penetrating the criminal’s bodies, it was like lambs to a slaughter. By now including Joe there was only five criminals left, one of them realised the back door to the house sitting right there to his left, her darted towards it. Isabella put a stop to his retreat by now flipping her left arm to the right letting the three bullets between her middle and index finer let loose into the criminal, instantly killing him. The other criminals were far too scared to even move a muscle now as Isabella was only a mere eight feet away from them. Isabella swept arms across her body so that they were crossing her chest. She looked down before lifting her head up smiling like a psychopath. She called out. “It was fun, guys, but all fun things come to an end eventually” She swung her arms back to their original place letting the left over bullets between her fingers fly from them not missing a single target as they all infiltrated into the criminal’s heads, bodies, arms and just about everywhere. Joe was however spared from this gruesome onslaught due to Isabella forgetting about him.
She observed as the blood poured out of all of the deceased criminal bodies. She exclaimed quietly. “Well I guess that’s that.” She had lost her murderous intent as she looked quite dull and disinterested. Her attention however was attracted towards Joe’s quivering. “Oh yeah, there’s still you to deal with. Well sorry but I’m all out of bullets and I heard one of your guys say that you lot didn’t have any more bullets left either, and I can’t leave any witnesses of this well incident that occurred today so I’ll just have to put you out of your pain, it’s for the better.” She had suddenly regained her murderous intent, glare and interest again. “The hard way hehehe.” She giggled away as she darted her eyes around the extremely gory room filled with blood, corpses, insanity and death looking for a weapon. She spotted her hatchet she had dropped accidently earlier as she nonchalantly strolled over towards it and drew it from the ground Joe was hastily racing against his death as he attempted to free his hand frozen the floor.
He bellowed out. “Come on! Come on god damn it! Why is this fucking happening!?” He became increasingly desperate to escape as Isabella drew up her hatchet strolling towards him. He drew his attention towards Ben who was absolutely terrified and shaking to from the horrific events that had just unfolded before him. “Hey B-Ben, please man help me! You froze my hand so su-surely you’d know how to undo it, right!?”
Ben looked towards him bewildered and disturbed, he was twitching as he was in shock unable to decide anything. “I…I d- I don’t understand…I-I mean, wh-w-what the hell just happened?” He gripped his thumping head, about to burst with fear, insanity and turmoil.
Joe’s puny shard of hope had now faded into the darkness. Isabella crept up from behind him as she breathed down onto him her voice growing angrier by the second. “It was fun, but…you choose the wrong people to mess around with… and it was an extremely terrible idea to hurt Ben!” Joe shifted his head by very slight amounts with pauses, unable to face the horror that awaited him. After what felt like centuries his head had managed to turn around to see Isabella standing there dripping with blood from her jeans, her face and her bloody and brutal hatchet. His pupils dilated as she swung it up into the air holding it with both hands.
Joe pleaded her. “NO PLEASE WAIT! I’LL GO A-AND I’LL FORGET ANY OF THIS EVER HAPPENED!”
Isabella’s eyes turned red as she whispered softly. “…Not a chance…” She slammed her foot down onto Joe’s frozen hand shattering it causing Joe and immense amount of pain and discomfort. He whelped on the floor as Isabella let loose death upon the poor, powerless and pathetic man. The hatchet flew downwards ensnaring itself into his skull, embedding perfectly.
Ben still crouched underneath the table was speechless as he twitched, shivered became pale and sobbed on the floor. Isabella darted towards him underneath the table as she pounced him, embracing him into a close hug. “Ssshhhhh its okay, they’re all gone now, I’ll protect you Ben!” She rose her head up as her eyes turned back to their original light blue colour. She smiled at him.
He wasn’t impressed with the way Isabella handled the incident. “What do you mean it’s okay? You’re wrong! It’s clearly not okay. There’s fifteen corpses in my house and blood everywhere! An- and…I just can’t fucking understand you! How are you this brutal and strong? It just doesn’t make sense, and it scares me…”
Isabella looked hurt as she exclaimed. “There was no other way though Ben! If I didn’t show up when I did they would have killed you, even now you’re still hurt from when they punched you! And if we did let them go, then how long it would be until word gets out and an elementalist or the police arrive!?”
Ben still horrified yelled out in response. “BUT YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO GO THAT FAR DID YOU!”
Isabella shrieked out. “I DIDN’T HAVE A CHOICE!” Ben now stopped sobbing as he paid closer attention. “IN THE SURVIVAL GAME BEN…WE’RE GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE SACRIFICES, IF WE’RE GOING TO SURVIVE, THEN WE’RE GOING TO HAVE TO BE WILLING TO GIVE UP OUR HUMANITY! I mean just look at us! You have ice elemental powers, and I’ve been genetically modified by the creator, to be this strong, this violent and aggressive, and this merciless!”
Ben was finally starting to realise Isabella’s point she was making. He thought to himself. “So that’s where Isabella got all of her power from then, so she doesn’t really like what she’s doing but she can’t control herself, so I can’t get angry at her. I don’t know what exactly it is the creator did to her, but it’s his fault. A sudden thought emerged through Ben’s mind. “Wait Isabella don’t you think that someone would of called the police?”
Isabella looked a bit vexed but anxious. “What do you mean?”
Ben gulped as he replied. “Well think about it, multiple gunshots just went off! Someone was bound to of heard them! And when they arrive they’re gonna see this scene!”
Isabella realised what Ben was explaining to her. Ben was panicking. “WH-what do we do!?”
Isabella thought for a second of how to dispose of the bodies and blood. She then had a disturbing yet contrastingly brilliant idea. “Ben, I know this might be tough, but I need you to freeze the bodies. Once you’ve froze them, I-I can shatter them into lots of tiny pieces and just, just pour them down the sink and toilet.”
Ben was horrifically disturbed by the idea. “Wha!? Are you insane! There’s no way! I can barely control this power yet, and some of these criminals are still alive, just unconscious. I don’t think I can kill a person and even if they are dead, this just doesn’t seem humane!” Ben then immediately remembered the criminal’s face he froze by accident. He glared at his palms as he questioned himself. “No way, did I actually kill that man?”
Isabella yelled out him. “We don’t have a choice Ben! But fine you start freezing the already deceased criminals, I’ll go slit the necks of the ones still alive that are just unconscious.”
Ben was quivering as he sobbed again. “Even if you do that. I-I don’t kn-know as if I can do this, Isabella…”
Isabella looked worried, she also remembered the red oozing blood covering half of the floor. She thought to herself. “Shit! We still have to get rid of that too! Damn it we’re wasting time moping on the floor!” She commanded Ben. “Look Ben, I know this must be tough for you but don’t you want your father back!? Then we’re going to have to take risks and sacrifices or else we’ll die and your father will never come back to life again! So stop moping, please, you’re not the only scared one here Ben.” Ben was in astonishment of Isabella’s speech. “I’m terrified too! I barely even understand what’s happening inside of me when I go on some, some sort of rampage, I just hear a voice inside of my head, that tells me to kill, and I always follow it. No…this isn’t the time to be seeking sympathy, come on Ben, we can do this.”
Ben still hesitant nodded his head, shaking in despair, knowing that there was no other path for him to choose. He rushed over to a body as he slipped his hands onto the chest area of the body. He closed his eyes and turned his head away whilst he condensed the elemental energy flowing through his body into his palms and fingertips as he slowly commenced the ice to spread all over and inside the criminal’s body. Whilst He was freezing the bodies Isabella ran over to the thugs still breathing as she quietly yet swiftly so she wouldn’t disturb Ben cut the necks of each of the criminals consequently expelling more blood. “Damn it more’s coming out than I expected, she was soaked in blood as she slammed the body into the sink letting the blood slowly ooze at into the sink, she started gathering rags, towels anything she could find to mop up the blood. Acting efficiently she darted her eyes towards the body in the sink, blood had ceased from drizzling from the body so she threw it onto the side as she did the same to another still alive criminal and then hurling him into the sink. She reviewed Ben on his progress and was reassured to see that he had just finished freezing the third body. She initiated the cleaning process as she rushed around the kitchen, sponging up the blood that smelt of putrid death. She and Ben by now were soaked with blood, yet they still persisted to save their lives from an imprisonment for life.
It came to Isabella’s notice that their situation had at least some advantageous luck. “Hey Ben, I think we’ll manage somehow, I mean…” She clasped her breath. “I mean think about it, there’s been a whole two-thousand criminals released from prison so at the moment the police are over knee deep in requests for help and capturing these guys, so it’ll take some time before they get to us.”
Ben now onto his fifth body responded with a bit more confidence and hope in his voice. “Yeah, yeah you’re right…we should be just fine.” With a few glimmers of hope Ben resumed as he cringed, looking away whilst he continued to freeze over the bodies and Isabella continued to executing the criminal’s with her favourite hatchet.
After some time Ben had almost finished freezing all of the bodies and Isabella was done moping the floor. Isabella whipped the sweat off of her forehead. “Okay…that’s done now, Ben are you done freezing the bodies now?”
Ben replied back. “Yeah, nearly…nearly done…” He had used up most of his elemental energy leaving himself feeling exhausted and light-headed. He stared at his last target, Joe. “I’m sorry to do this…Joe…” He clasped his hands onto Joe’s left arm at his side, gripping tightly as he slowly froze him through. “Okay, that’s the last of the-“ He stood up whilst exclaiming this only to find he had miniscule strength left as he fell down to his knees.
Isabella dashed over to him. “Ben! Are you all-right!?”
Ben attempting to stand to his feet acting tough. “Y-yeah I-I think I’ll be fine. Let’s start shattering those bodies, Isabella.”
Isabella trying to look cheerful as she hugged Ben holding him tightly. “It’ll all be soon over, don’t worry about a thing!” She stated joyfully.
She helped Ben to his feet. Ben feeling like he had to act strong stated. “Hah I’m fine, really you don’t need to help me.”
Isabella thought to herself. “I can feel him shaking so much, yet he’s putting up with it for me. I have to crush these bodies and now!” She steadily walked over to the criminal’s body near the sink as she drew her hatchet she slashed and hacked her way through the lifeless ice body, smashing it into many pieces as she screeched out. “Shatter! Shatter! Just fucking shatter already!”
Ben awkwardly standing there panting looked for something he could do to help. He noticed in the corner of his eye the frozen bodies, he dragged them with his remaining strength over to Isabella. “Here…I-I brought them all over here.”
She turned her head towards him. “Ah thanks Ben, you look tired, just leave this up to me, and you go tidy the room up.”
His eyes darted around the kitchen as he took note of the chairs that had fallen over and some of the left over weapons the thugs had used. “Well what should we do with all of the weapons, Isabella?”
She took some thought as she replied back. “Keeping them will be a risk if the police find them, but I doubt they will and they’ll prove useful especially the guns.”
Ben stated in response. “But the guns are out of ammo.”
Isabella smirked. “Yeah, but now we don’t have to find our own guns, all we need is ammo. That 357. Revolver Joe’s got. That firearm suits you I think.”
Ben looked a bit surprised. “Really? How exactly can you tell what guns suit me, I’ll admit that I do like using magnums in games but how’d you know?”
Isabella continued hacking away at the ice. “Well I heard you over talking one day to some people in our form about video games, stuff like that. And then I heard you talking about your favourite weapons in games and I remember you saying yours were magnums/revolvers.”
Ben was amazed at how much Isabella remembers about him. “Ho-how do you remember all of these things about me?”
She responded back with a warming smile in their despair full situation. “Well… I guess it’s because I love you, Ben!”
She and Ben blushed a bit as she said this. Ben realising that they were falling behind on work but was confounded on what to say next stated. “Oh okay, well thanks I guess heheh. Okay well…I’ll uh go hide the guns and other weapons inside the garage for now.” Ben attempting not to attract much attention put the guns in
A while later Isabella was onto the last body which was Joe’s. She didn’t hold back whatsoever as she used up the final bits of her strength to annihilate the frozen body. Ben was finished with cleaning duties as he leaned on the side for a minute to regain his strength. He looked at his hands to see them still trembling from the horrific, mentally damaging incident. Isabella turned the hot tap on to dissolve and dispose any ice still left over that hadn’t been melted yet. “Okay it’s nearly done Ben, see we managed just about after all.” Her ears perked up very rapidly as she listened in on the local traffic outside. The sound of sirens emerged from the unknown as they closed in on Ben’s residence. She yelled to Ben “Oh shit. Ben they’re coming!”
He panicked too when he heard the sirens. He asked Isabella. “WH-what do we do!?”
Isabella attempting to keep her cool continued to dismantle the iced-over criminal lodged lo in the sink. “I- uh…okay we need to just deny what really happened here.” The police cars were now on Holmoaks street. “Just try to act calm, after all those gunshots could have been heard from anywhere with all of the criminals loose at the moment.
Ben questioned. “But wait, there’s a good chance that someone would have seen the criminals invading the house.”
Isabella turning serious said. “Well that’s just a chance we’ll have to take, if we say they did come here but ran away they’d search for finger prints and other evidence to find out who the criminals were. But they’ll find traces of blood, and what really happened here.”
Ben looked anxious as he started to panic at the thought of getting caught by the police he then remembered his chin getting pierced by Joe’s kick. “Oh crap. What if they see my bruised up and bashed in chin? They’ll know that something’s up!” He exclaimed. The police cars had now halted outside of their house.
Isabella now finished with accomplishing the disposal of the frozen criminals calmly replied back. “Okay they’re here now. And don’t worry about the chin it’s actually not that visible, I guess that your elemental powers helped it heal quickly.”
Ben starred deeply into his palm. “I guess you’re right.”
There came a sudden thunderous knock at the door accompanied with a deep, serious and mature voice. “Open up, it’s the police!”
They both followed the demand as they hurried over to the door and unlocked it before opening it wide open revealing the bright day-light and a very monotone face. He was five feet and ten inches tall and was an African American detective. “Hello there I was called over as there were reports of gunshots coming from around your house.” He stepped into the door way and his tall ominous shadow loomed over them. “And I was wondering if I could come over and investigate?”
Ben and Isabella didn’t want to seem suspicious so they allowed his entrance. Isabella stated. “Yeah we heard gunshots as well, but it wasn’t in our house officer.”
The detective replied back. “Hm I see. Also I’m not just some officer, I’m a detective.” He then followed up with a question. “And where did these gunshots sound like they were from then?”
Isabella looked slightly bothered by the statement, not being used to getting corrected and the minor amount of arrogance emitting from the detective. “Oh…okay then, well the gunshots sounded like they were from behind us.”
The detective stepped into the death-filled house completely oblivious of the real events that had happened there. “Well there certainly doesn’t seem to be anything unusual here. Tell me where are your parents exactly? Mind telling me your names?” He inquired with great curiosity. “Oh and I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Matthew Kennedy, a chief inspector detective working for the Metropolitan police force. ” He stated.
Ben still on edge trying to keep his cool replied back. “Oh we’re not siblings, this a… uh… a close friend of mine.” He stated with difficulty still attempting to shake of the horrors that were just bestowed upon him due to her. “My dad…well he passed away ten years ago and my mum works abroad so neither are here at the moment. My name’s Ben as well and this is Isabella. We’re both students at London Grammar School.”
The detective knelt down on one knee with sympathy. “Oh… well I’m sorry to hear about your father Ben, so…this girl if your friend?”
Ben nodded. “Yeah pretty much.” Isabella beamed a smirk full of joy.
Matthew grinned at Ben joking around. “Yeah sure just friends heheheh.” He chuckled away. Ben was promptly reminded of his introduction with Joe as images of not long ago of the room filled with corpses ravaged both his mind and his sanity. He quivered. “Hhmm? Is something wrong?”
Ben swallowed the tension and horror in his mouth as he let out a silent statement. “I- no it’s fine, I guess I’m just nervous due to all of the criminals breaking out like this.”
Matthew replied back. “I don’t blame ya. The situation doesn’t make sense at all, there’s been a lot of strange happenings in England, especially in the south-east region lately. You two don’t seem like bad people, however protocol states that I still have to lead some sort of investigation when there’s been reports like these.” The detective entered the kitchen area, his eyes darting around the place for anything suspicious. He then perceived the plastic kettle Isabella had used earlier. There was still about fifty millilitres of water inside it. He thought inside his head. “That’s strange, you normally don’t leave any water behind when making tea or coffee. Plus the fact that I’m not seeing any used mugs around the place or in the sink.” He continued his search for anything suspicious, ne also noticed that the floor had been very recently cleaned and was still slightly damp in some sections, it seemed like a rushed job to Matthew. He poked his head around into the lounge, not stepping inside of it, and noted the fact of there not being any mugs inside of the lounge either. He turned around to face Ben and Isabella who had remained within a couple of metres all of the way. He jolted both calmly and causally over to the kettle as he put his hand on it and felt that it was still warm. He asked. “Well there’s not anything overly suspicious, however there’s two things on my mind.” Ben and Isabella both gulped as they listened closely. He exclaimed. “I noticed that for starters one of you have put the kettle on recently, yet it there’s no mugs around here that have been recently used. Secondly the floor is damp in some places.” Ben started to tremble as he thought. “Oh no. He’s on to us, I-I have to say something now to stop him from realising.” Images of the abominable, gruesome and hideous scene that took place flashed through Ben’s mind. “Before realising what exactly happened here!”
Isabella scratched her head. “Oh yeah haha sorry, but there’s a reasonable explanation for those.” Ben calmed down as he and Matthew listened with curiosity to what Isabela had to say. “Basically I turned the kettle on earlier and then I filled up a mug but I accidentally dropped it on the floor and it shattered everywhere. I then quickly mopped it all up!” She exclaimed whilst giggling lightly.
Matthew then questioned her. “So where is the shattered mug?”
Isabella replied back. “Oh it’s in the bin now.” The detective strolled over to the bin to take an analysis of the plausible sounding story.
Ben was panicking as he thought. “But wait! That’s a lie! I never saw or heard Isabella dropping a mug so there ain’t gonna be one in the bin and then he’ll be even more suspicious!” He was about to intervene when Isabella grabbed Ben around the waist hugging him from behind. She brought her mouth towards Ben’s ear and softly whispered. “Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing, hehe trust me…”
Matthew flipped open the bin’s lid without hesitation to discover broken pieces of a mug. “Oh, well I guess you weren’t lying then after all. Sorry for doubting you.”
Isabella let go of Ben and cheerfully smiled. “It’s okay, it’s only your job after all, Mr Kennedy.”
Ben again was baffled. “Wha-when did she do that? Had she already planned this all out just in case? I didn’t even hear her shatter it, Isabella…just how do you do all of these amazing things!? How is she this…this smart and combat enabled!?” Ben looked into his palm thinking again. “It really does seem like neither of us, can even be classed as human anymore…”
The detective span around to the two teenagers. “Well everything seems to check out just fine here. I’ll be taking my leave, those criminals ain’t gonna waltz back on into prison voluntarily.” Both Ben and Isabella felt a wind of relief cover them up and protect them from worry of getting caught. “Oh yeah, here’s my number though if anything ever happens.”
Matthew handed Ben a neat and well-kept card with his phone number on it. Ben replied back. “Oh thanks, I um be sure to give you a call then if I saw a criminal or something I guess.”
Matthew stood up again, his towering shadow looming over them, however now it casted a much more friendly shadow that comforted the two. “Well then I’ll be going now. Take care you two.” The detective stepped out of the house and pulled the door too hastily yet somewhat gently.
Isabella rotated around and dashed towards Ben. “Ah! That was a close one! Don’t worry Ben, I’ll protect you from anything. She embraced Ben with a hug. He stood there silently with hardly any emotion showing at all. He thought. “Am I really going to have to stick with this girl if I want to live in this game and bring my father back to life?”
Meanwhile the detective entered his car and took one last glimpse at the house as he thought. “Still though, something seemed odd…no something seemed dreadfully wrong at that house, especially that girl…Isabella her name was. Most people would be nervous when there’s this many criminals loose, and when someone of a high authority is suspecting them of a potential crime they’d should be almost scared, yet she…she just remained positive. Too positive. But I have more important matters to attend too I guess.” He fired up the car’s engine and left Holmoaks street.
Back inside the house with hints of death still lurking in the corners and shadows Ben started to feel completely drained. “Eh…what the hell’s happening?” He mentioned with little energy.
Isabella called out. “Ben!” As he gradually slumped to his knees, Isabella being his only support holding him up. “Hey what’s wrong? Ben!” Ben’s eyes lazily began closing. Isabella realised that it Ben’s exhaustion was due to using up a great proportion of elemental energy to freeze all of the criminal’s bodies. Ben slowly drifted off to sleep, furthermore Isabella smiled and rubbed Ben’s head. “You did well today, Ben. If it weren’t for you I would have got caught, so thank you.” She lifted Ben up onto her back, and carried him upstairs, transporting him to his comfy bed.
Sunday 22nd of September 2013
Ben rose up from his bed, dead early in the morning, the sky was still pitch back. “Uh, what happened? Why am I in bed exactly? Oh wait I kind of remember why now.” Memories of Isabella carrying Ben up to his bed reoccurred. “Yeah I was so exhausted after using all of that elemental energy.” A noisy clattering sound came from downstairs. “Wait is that Isabella? Shouldn’t she be at home, I mean aren’t her parents going to get sceptical and worried if she hasn’t been home yet this weekend?” He reached for his watch and looked at the time. “Jesus it’s 2:43am. What exactly is she doing down there?” Ben jumped up from his bed and turned on the light switches due to his slight fear of the dark. He crept downstairs quietly but with haste. He reached the bottom of the stairs, the front door to his left, the lounge door in front of him and the kitchen door to his right. He went to the kitchen door and could now hear chewing, cracking and sucking sounds. “What exactly is she doing in there?” He rested his hand on the door handle, gripped it and pulled it down, pushing the door forward. He reached for the light switch and as he turned them on. “Hey Isabella what ar-.” He turned to stone as he discovered a wild, ferocious animal looking like a werewolf of some sort devouring Matthew’s corpse. Blood splattered everywhere as the beast’s three inch long razor teeth chomped through the flesh and cracked the bone with ease. The beast was covered in brown fur, had a long snout and was easily over two-hundred pounds in weight. It was nearly half the size of a mini car. The vicious beast let out a shriek as it was disturbed. The shriek pierced Ben’s ears making them ring and broke the glass windows and the light bulbs, nullifying all light, plunging the room into complete blackness, terror and dismay. The beast started jolting towards Ben, and his survival instincts lead him to slamming the door shut. The beast pounded and clawed at the door but Ben pushed back on it. “WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING!? ISABELLA! WHERE ARE YOU!?” Suddenly the lights in the small area Ben was in flickered on and off. They then turned off completely and so did the banging and pounding at the door. Ben muttered. “Did it go away?” Ben’s grip loosened up and he felt a shiver crawl down his spine as bad vibes made his hair stand up. He could feel the creature’s breathing down his neck right behind him. The monster’s saliva dripped down and pooled right where Ben’s feet where. Ben twitched and stood still before leaping around to discover the ferocious werewolf beast standing before him, seven feet high, reaching right to the ceiling he swung his claws up and swung them down onto Ben as he blared out. “NO STAY AWAY!”

Hi LLZ here.
First of, I think it was a really good chapter. I've already read the other chapters beforehand and I really enjoy reading this. Plenty of description and an interesting story line. I LOVE IT!!
You really show the connection between the two characters and you can see the difference between their personalities.
Though I have got to say the format of the writing (if format would be the right word to say) is uneven. By that I mean that some paragraphs are incredibly short, whilst some are extremely long and dragging.
I noticed you keep repeating their names. Instead you could use more of "he" and "she"
Good job and keep on writing
From LLZ
Thanks for reading my chapter LLZ and that's good to hear that you're enjoying it! Also I'm sorry for the late reply I only just got back from holiday which I was at when review day started. Any ways thanks for the feedback I'll take it all into account when the next chapter's been done
Since it is review day, I've regretfully neglected to read you previous chapter. Anything I express concern for, which has been addressed in previous chapters, may be disregarded as you see fit.
Great personification!Here are some corrections/suggestions:
'Tense' and 'serious' are essentially synonymous in this usage. Omit one or the other to avoid redundancy.
Comma should be a period or semi-colon here.
'Air' is redundant here. To avoid that, I would suggest rewording and combining these two sentences.
Should be 'to' between 'one step closer' and 'finding out'.
Major, MAJOR, run-on sentence. Also, when you have an exclamation point, you don't need a period.
Commas around 'chuckling away'.
Commas around 'with his left arm resting'. Also, 'from', 'on', ect is his resting?
Period after hyphen. Also, you used the en hyphen here, which is used to make compound words. You need to employ the em hyphen, which is used for interruption.
Comma after 'quick' and the comma should be a semi-color, period, or exclamation mark.
You can express that they are startled by expressing it in the way they rushed to the door. Regardless, 'extremely' is unnecessary here.
Anyway, I'm going to stop right here. Overall, you write very well.
sorry for the late reply I was on holiday at school and wow this is a big review so thanks for all of the feedback!
