Under the Maple

E - Everyone

In Edel's folder

She sits under the maple tree.

Hair short and choppy clothes, faded and worn.

She sits under the maple,

tears rolling down hot cheeks, familiar voices filling her ears.

They sit on top a old tractor tire whispering and laughing.

Little do they know nature is their enemy,

to engrossed in gossip to take notice of an echo.

They sit on the tire,

hair long and combed, clothes bright and new.

In their hearts they feel a pain, like a setting rock,

but pride covers it with a veil.

She feels the pain of betrayal stab at her back,

anger rising higher and higher,

she shoves it down inside,

deeper and deeper,

knowing little that one day it will burst.

Hey Edelweiss,
Myjaspercat here to give you a review.

She sits under the maple tree. I like this opening. I think it starts off the scene quite well.
Hair short and choppy, clothes faded and worn. Here I would suggest moving the comma to after the word 'clothes'
She sits under the maple, Even though some people might consider it repetitive, I would still put the full phrase 'maple tree'.
They sit ontop a old tractor tire whispering and laughing. Okay so if there are two people now then I would suggest that the line before this you write 'they sit under the maple tree' so your reader doesn't get confused when it goes from just her to they. I also added to the sentence to follow the suggestion.
Little do they know that nature is their enemy,
tears rolling down hot cheeks, familiar voices filling her ears.
to engrossed in gossip to take notice of an echo. Wow. I really like these last two lines. They draw me in completely as your reader and I find it very pleasing.
They sit on the tire,
hair long and combed, clothes bright and new.
In their hearts they feel a pain, like a setting rock,
but pride covers it with a veil. That's interesting.
She feels the pain of betrayal stab at her back,
anger rising higher and higher,
she shoves it down inside,
deeper and deeper,
knowing little that one day it will burst.

Wow, okay I really liked this poem. In fact I didn't find that much wrong with it. I did leave a few suggestions above but nothing to really stress about. The way you wrote this was just amazing and I found myself totally engrossed in it. I really want to know how nature was against the two and what type of pain was being veiled. These are some good questions to leave your reader with after your work. If I had to be nit picky the only thing I would really say is that for me the ending of the poem seemed to rush a bit and it kind of left me a little confused. Other then that good job. Good luck and continue writing. --Myjaspercat

Thank you so much Myjaspercat! The pain the other girls felt was regret but because of pride they will never confess it.

Oh and nature is their enemy because of the echo.

Oh! I like this :3 Here's my review. I hope it's helpful :D

She sits under the maple tree,
hair short and choppy, clothes faded and worn.

commas needs to be a period.
She sits under the maple,
I didn't like this repetition. It feels weird and sticks out to me.
tears rolling down hot cheeks, familiar voices filling her ears.
They sit on a old tractor tire whispering and laughing,
Little do they know nature is their foe,
to engrossed in gossip to take notice of an echo.

I found the line about me odd and I didn't really understand it. Also the random rhyme, I don't know if it's intentional or not but it sticks out to me. Especially since you didn't rhyme before.
They sit on the tire,
hair long and combed, clothes bright and new.
In their hearts they feel a pain, like a setting rock,
but pride covers it with a veil.
She feels the pain of betrayal stab at her back,
anger rising higher and higher,
she shoves it down inside,
deeper and deeper,
knowing little that one day it will burst.

The rest of the poem was confusing. I'm not getting the metaphor or what you are trying to say. I don't get the thing with the hair and clothes. It didn't do much for me since I didn't get it all.

I hope this review was helpful,
Alice

I made the changes!
The girl with the short hair symbolizes the poorer families, that's why her clothes are faded and worn. The girls with the bright and new clothes symbolize the richer families.
Because of the echo she hears that they are gossiping about her, she feels betrayal because they were once her friends.
Sorry that it's not clear, as for repetition I'm not sure. The poem is something of personal sentimental. I'm am a amateur poet and have a lot to learn. Thanks for the review Alice!
