Griffin - Chapter 11.1
J and Sully just kinda stared at me and Nat. It was really odd. Both just sat there, Sully looking as bright as day and J just really confused, freaked out, along with amazed.
I mean, we both kept our form hidden when we left for class. Neither of us wanted so much attention, after all, from what J told us, our calling days were weeks late. Not the norm. A day or two, ok, but weeks? That was unheard of.
Other kids just looked for a second but then kept on with what they were doing, leftover homework or teasing friends. Nothing special. None of their tattoos were cool either. One’s face was split on half, a skull.
“By the Celestials, when will Mr. Drequinn get here? He always takes long but this is just a new record!” J blurted as she averted her eyes from the tattoos that lined my jaw.
Wait, Drequinn? Oh! Nat’s uncle!
I looked over at Nat and she seemed calm for being surrounded by so many people. I guess she felt better that family would be here soon.
“Yeah, and he gave us so much homework. Like, c’mon now! I already know the whole history of the Trojan war!” Some high-pitched boy piped in, then looked away but gave a second glance at me and Nat.
“I know Mormon! And he’s just so… him. Too much him. Too worrisome, too childish, too ecentric about things. It really gets annoying!” A petite girl piped in. And then I looked over at Nat.
Her jaw was clenched, her blue eye glowing. She wasn’t happy. I tapped her shoulder, and motioned for her to calm down. She took a deep breath and crossed her arms. If she was in her form, I was sure that smoke would curl from her nostrils and that her tail would be flickering in annoyance.
J looked at Nat, curious but then looked away. She was playing with this gold rose, lightly touching the petals then tapping the thorns. I wonder why...
Then the door burst open, Auggie look disheveled and well, eccentric. His hair was really messy, his coat lopsided and shoes untied. I guess he was in a hurry.
But then Auggie saw Nat and a smile grew wide.
“So,” Auggie began. “Homework.”
And everyone got up as a herd, shuffling to the front and handed in papers. Some were grumbling about how it took them six hours to complete and others were worried about some question they couldn’t complete because of gym.
One kid passed us, telling us that we would get an immediate detention for not getting our work done. Nat said it wasn’t a problem. The kid just looked horrified and scurried up.
Auggie set the papers down on the desk, knocking over a mug that said I’m a Keeper! On it. It was a good pun, I must admit.
“Blake and Rouse. Again, no homework turned in.” He said, cocking his head. “Extra hour of training with Mr. Fowler.” He said and hopped up on his desk, standing like a circus conductor. The two girls that were called for missing homework groaned, then went back to doodling on their arms.
Me and Nat watched perplexed, as he stood on the desk, his arms held open wide. Then, he snapped his fingers and all around us, the room changed to that of the middle of a battlefield. Men and women ran through us, like we were ghost. No one surprised. But Nat? Her eyes were wide.
“J! J!” She whispered excitedly. “This explains so much!” and she turned back around to face Auggie. And J? J was really confused.
She turned to me, and gave me look that said please-help-me-understand-this-girl. I just shrugged and listen to Auggie rant about the battle that raged around us.
“Now, around me is the battle of Bliss Ridge, or as the humans call it, Gettysburg. This fight was held in our domain hundreds of years before the humans battle began there. This was the start of our Civil war between the five provinces and the five dragon clans. This war is what made the clans split, not just with us, but with each other. Only the Stalkers, Bonearrow and Stargazers sided with the one province that stuck with our way of life. That province is known as the Xeno. It's where we are." But his voice was drowned out as we watched the battle wage around us.
A man in a mask, a bright red one, fought alongside a sandy colored dragon with a scorpion tail. These two ducked underneath a night looking one, another meta beside this dragon. But the meta beside this dragon, had purple scales, a smile like Nats. And that twinkle in their eye that said they were happy, not afraid.
It was her father.
Her frickin father was in this memory.
She stood, ridged. This was surprising to her. How could her father be alive? Although, full-metas did live longer then part. But did she not realize this till now?
She turned to me, her eyes wide.
I just held my hands up in a shy defense, unsure of what to do or say. Nat turned away, staring at her uncle, who's purple eye was glowing.
His eyes met Nat's, hers filled with pain and surprise. Auggie snapped his fingers again, the image of her father throwing a tarot card that exploded into a dragons mouth, disappearing.
The shrieking bell rang, and students shuffled out. But we stayed. Me, Nat, J, Grim and Sully. None of us moved.
Auggie looked at us. His eyes landed on Grim who he mumbled hello to but then looked at Nat. She was heartbroken. But I didn't need to see her eyes to know that. It was how she got closer to us.
"Nat, Nat, please. Yes, your father was a celestial. My other half. You know how I said they can be past on through genetics but please I-" Auggie jabbered, stumbling over desks but Nat interrupted.
"My father was a goddamned Celestial and you never bothered to tell me. Which one, huh? Does that mean that I am even more of a freak, considering I am already the Abis one!" She screeched and stormed out. J followed while me, Grim and Sully stayed in here.
Grim look at Auggie, silent disappointment obvious.
"Grim, I wanted to tell her but-" But he was interrupted again.
"I know you did. But do not tell her that-" Grim stopped himself. What was with people and being interrupted in some way, seriously? "I have to go. Do not tell her Augustus. Do not." And Grim left. Auggie stared at us, like he was lost. But then he opened his mouth, as if nothing had happened.
"Griffin, just, embrace what you can do. Make sure you both do." Auggie finished and like, poofed? Yeah, poofed out of the room in a group of gold and purple sparks.
Me and Sully just stood there, unsure how to go on.
"So, we have a free period. Wanna head back to the room and oh, I dunno, you tell me what the hell is going with Nat?!" He exclaimed. I nodded in agreement and we left the room, no idea where J and Nat went too.

Hey there, Flumadiddle! Just dropping by to give a quick review. I apologize in advance, because I have not read any other piece of this novel, so I will just be basing my review off of this chapter alone.
Grammar can be pretty subjective, but if you plan on publishing this one day, then I recommend you practice the "put others before yourself" rule and change this to - Nat and I.
I feel like you're missing something here, so I added in the emboldened word to make the sentence flow better.
Just a personal nitpick, but it's a lot more professional to actually spell out okay.
Whoa, are we still talking tattoos here? Cause if we are, then I would choose some different wording here. Maybe it's just me and my love for gory movies, but my mind went to a place I'm sure you never meant for it to go to
Trojan War is an event, so capitalize both, just like you would Civil War.
You know a Mormon? Or his name is Mormon?

You already used this phrase in a paragraph prior. Go for something different.
Add a comma after curious.
Rephrase this to "And everyone herded together".
Whose*
dragon's*
Okay so! I know that's a lot

Hey there! Moalex here to review your work and the first one to get your work out of the green room. I admit, this was definitely a huge roller coaster of a puzzle. I was having trouble trying to imagine the setting until it was mentioned that everything happening in here was a dream. Then it started making sense because dreams don't always have a stable setting. I don't know if that made any sense. I have yet to read any of your previous chapters but I can say for certain that this was definitely a confusing chapter to jump into. Would have definitely helped if I had your previous works.
That's all I have to say. Good job, keep writing, and enjoy the rest of your day.
Yeah, I recommend reading previous chapers. Its a must, or it doesn't make sense.
