"Dance"
Dance, dance, dance!
Till it all goes down!
Dance, dance, dance!
Till your world falls apart!
You know you want it!
So come on! And dance!
Stop being so overdramatic!
Just dance! Just dance!
What happened? You're feeling sick?
I don't care! Dance!
You think you're being slick?
Dance! I said dance!
Drown yourself! You have nothing to lose!
Dance it all away!
Dance and drink the booze!
Dance. Just dance.
Just pretend.
Pretend and dance.
This will never end.
Dance. Please dance.
What have you done? Just watch.
I told you to dance.
Was it really too much?
Dance.
It's raining now. I told you to dance.
Nobody cares. Is it too dense?
Dance.
Why are you crying?
Are you hurt?
No? So why are you stopping?
Dance away your heart.
In this world, it's hard to dance.
And you have this privilege.
So go on. Dance.
Wake up the whole village.
Show them how you feel.
Dance and dance.
How miserable. How ill.
And dance. And dance.
I don't care! Do you care?
I will still dance!
It hurts. It hurts so well.
Dance! Dance!
I need to stop. Dancing hurts.
But how? I never was taught.

Happy review month! I'm not great at writing reviews but I will try. Into the review.
This is so good omg!! It's insane how good your poems are. You are an amazing and talented author, and I would love to see your work in store one day.
"I need to stop. Dancing hurts.
But how? I never was taught."
This line is by far my favorite line; the emotions it carries makes the perfect ending to this masterpiece of a poem.
You are amazing, keep up the great work! Mwah Mwah

Hey there, Bluuru! This is Alex, here to review this fabulous poem you wrote. Let's dive right in!
I must admit I love the title! I initially thought it was going to be about a beautiful dance between two lovers, as a symbol of the harmony between them. But the way you use it in a twisted way is so clever and original, colour me impressed! I like how it's repeated in each stanza, it almost sounds like a sinister song. To say the least, it's very compelling.
I like the simple scheme which isn't too anchored, but free to evolve as the poem progresses. The tone is quite imposing, as I'm sure you intended it to come across. To analyse them deeper, I'm going to divide them in four groups, of three stanzas each.
Set 1
The command of dancing excessively immediately let's the reader know something is wrong. People themselves dance when they're celebrating happiness, they don't need to be forced. But here, we see the subject cunningly try to get of it, when the narrator calls them out for trying to be slick. Dancing is not something to do when you're sick, but the narrator couldn't care any less. Basically, they want the subject to dance no matter what. And mind you, not in a slight jolly way, but till the world falls apart. It's an exaggerated ask, but their zeal betrays no intentions of them not meaning it. When you really think about it, it's even scary.
I find these lines quite significant as they reveal so much. They're feeding the thoughts and liking into the subject's mind. Pure manipulation through the cracks of their doubts. They even scold them for being overdramatic, choosing to ignore their emotions and actual opinions completely.
As for suggestions, I do have some tiny ones that I think can enhance impact if modified. But only use them if you agree with me on it, you're free to stick to the current form if you feel it fits your vision better!
I think it'd be more effective if you removed the first Just here and capitalise the d in dance thereafter. I get you were going for repetition but I believe my version has a more addictive ring to it, purely my own opinion though!
Nothing major but I think it sounds better like this-
What happened- you're feeling sick?
I don't care, dance anyways!
Set 2
In a desperate attempt to get them to loosen up, we see the narrator trying to get them drunk as a low attempt. This way, their consciousness will be compromised, making them easier to influence. They're also reminding the subject they've got nothing left, making them more likely to take unjustified risks over nothing.
Again, the narrator is controlling what the subjects thinks. With their authoritative tone, they wish to intimidate the subject to dance.
The reader can tell the subject isn't in the mood since the beginning. But these are the lines where we see the narrator acknowledge it, even if they further suggest to hide it.
Getting angry over the subject nothing wanting to dance sounds like classic gaslighting. They really have it out for them, using emotional warfare now to express they couldn't even do this little for them.
As for suggestions, again some little things.
Two continuous exclamation marks look overboard, perhaps drop the first one for a comma?
On the other hand, I think you need a exclamation here to gather attention as you've done in the previous stanzas. I feel repeating this pattern will create a sense of consistency the reader could adher to.
Bluntly, I could comprehend the use of this line. Maybe something like 'Why must you always disappoint?' would work better here. Just an idea!
Personally, I think these lines severely break character. I can't really envision the narrator requesting after all they've said. To keep things relevant and consistent, I'd recommend changing this for something more forceful. Or maybe 'Wear a mask and dance!' if you want to relate it to the particular stanza.
I get you're running out of ideas, but I feel this is the part that makes or breaks the overall affect this poetry has on the reader's mind. So I'd suggest to try just a little harder to make it work, it'll be so worth it I promise!
Set 3
We see things have gone as bad as to the subject breaking in tears. Yet in a shattering scene, the narrator commands them to not stop. At this point, I can feel a shiver running down my spine. The narrator is making them feel guilty by mentioning that many would kill to be in their shoes. Even in rain, they don't allow the subject's feet to halt.
Let's go over some quick suggestions for this part now.
This came across as odd. Here's my offered alternate -
Nobody cares if the ground is wet
It's not too dense to dance!
I'd have gone with 'Then don't (dare to) stop' [use or omit within brackets, however you like best]
This definitely worked but perhaps these will go better-
So feel grateful and dance
Till the whole village wakes up!
Set 4
In the closing set, the reader is engrossed in a true climax to behold. The narrator is asking the subject to go mad, dancing. They demand of them to not pay heed to the pain and dance regardless
The last suggestions are listed as follows:
I think this would be more fitting-
Dance like you're mad!
I think you should remove the second care. It's not needed.
Try this-
It hurts like hell
But still dance!
Rest the closing lines were perfectly phrased, Bravo!
All in all, it's a deep beyond with so much beyond the superficial surface. I believe dancing is a metaphor for living one's life with a smile despite struggling with mental health issues. When you consider this latent meaning, the closing, 9th, 6th, 5th and 3rd stanzas become all the more heartbreaking and appealing. They're so resonating and hurtful, you did a remarkable job capturing them so well. As the subject finds themselves dejected, we see the narrator force them to dance in a sick way to help them stand up. They're encouraging the subject to put on lie and pretend evrything is alright. When their forceful demands don't work, they resort to emotional manipulation, alcohol and threats to get them to dance. They'd really do anything other than to sit with them and go over what troubles them so much that they don't wish to dance. It's drenched in satire, a slap of irony in the face of society which encourages bottling up one's pain to perform in front of the world. The dance was such a cunning way to depict an act of pretense that the narrator is forcing the subject to put up. The poetry was quite well written, captivating the reader with the bold exclamations and authoritative voice. I think I overdid the suggestions but they're all minimal and what I genuinely think would suit this poem better. But feel free to ignore all of them and stand by your poetic choices if you feel it compromises how you wanted your poetry to sound. This was such a riveting read, a pleasure to review. Hope I get to read more of your works, very soon.
Omg that's like a lot- woah. Yeah I totally get the suggestions! I probably won't change much cause it's not really a new poem, one of the old ones and it was also written at night- But I will surely use the advice in future works! Really! It's great that you understood it and felt it! I just need to continue learning english in order to know more words and use them- ehehe. And oh trust me, I'll be posting a lot! I just need to post my old poems and then I'll start writing new ones and then I'll be able to use advices cause the poems will be new and I'llstill be in the same mood as I was while writing so I don't lose the thought and vibe I intended to use ^^ overall thank you so much for giving my poem so much time and reviewing so deeply! I'm really happy that you're willing to help!
Hello! I'm Milesperhour, here to review your amazing poetry!
I love this poem, it definitely succeeds at creating its intended effect, the metaphor works very well. This is definitely a very relatable poem, as it really represents the feeling of being pushed beyond your limits and your problems being ignored.
Despite using little descriptive language, this poem creates a clear image in my mind of the scene taking place, which is pretty impressive.
My favorite line is probably
"Why are you crying?
Are you hurt?
No? So why are you stopping?
Dance away your heart."
Idk if this was intentional, but it kind of reminds me of how some people don't see mental illness as a "real illness," which could be why the speaker doesn't consider the dancer to be "really hurt."
The last line is also painfully relatable, honestly this entire poem is.
Overall, this is amazing! Please keep writing poetry, you definitely have a talent for it.
Aw thank you for saying it's amazing! And for saying it's impressive! This means alot! And I'm always so hapoy when someone picks favourite line omg. And Yes! This was intentional! Thank you again!
