Tip Toe

If I were to tell you that there was something about that piano sitting in this corner of the room, would you stare? Would you laugh? Or would you blink? Well, I don’t mind which one of them you do, however there is one thing you mustn’t do, speak. You see, there’s this little girl living in that key, the third on to the right, were the happiest of tones sing throughout my ears. What if I told you that I lived in that key? In fact, let’s stop with the questions and focus on the one thing, me.

I live in the piano. Yes, I know that may seem a little odd to say at any given moment, but when my dress spins with the whistling wind you know that I’m there. I like to sing, although the birds usually take over which is very frustrating, especially when I need to hear my own voice. The best time when I can sing is at night, where the piano isn’t singing it’s song so much and you lot are sleeping.

That’s right; you have no idea who I am! Well, I’m the music note princess.

That’s right, they have me too. However, not many people know me because of their taught talent. I only come out where a natural artist is born. Artist’s like painters, writer’s, musicians and everything in between that begin their talent at such a young age. The best thing about these guys is the fact that they don’t need to be taught anything! It’s funny in a way because the one thing I notice about these guys is that they get picked on too easily. Why I have to teach them a lesson, all the bullies, parents, teachers and random citizens who spit their foul words at their faces. Unfortunately though, they don’t seem to notice that I’m there, so what’s the point, right?

Anyway, it’s now night time, which means that I can sing my heart away. I’m crouching, my back straining in pain as if hot coal is on my back. I blink, eyeing the opening of the key. My eyes glare as I hit the roof of the note, the noise of it popping off finally yells at me as a dim light stares at my face. I lift myself up with all my might, my arms shaking like jelly once I make it onto the lid of this grand instrument.

Finally, I’m on top of the world! Success, now I can begin to sing. I smile, spinning in a circle and landing on a high C. I begin to sing, the notes spilling from my mouth as if I am writing it down on paper. The ink notes begin to play, each note hums in the wind and dances around me. I sing louder, forming bigger notes for me to step on, or rather tip toe on since its nightfall.

Placing both arms out to the sides, I wobble my feet try to stay glued to the note. I laugh, this is fun! However, I just hope that I don’t fall on the ground, landing on my head in your stupid cat’s mouth. Okay, I must stay focused! I need to get to the other side of the piano otherwise the cat will eat me. You see, your stupid animal that fur blowing in its eyes all the time is always trying to grab me. Do you realize that if you don’t tame that beast all talents will be washed away with the wind? No joke, that’s why I’m here, if you’re confused I’ll just say this, if I go, the world will go bland.

The wind picks up and brushes my feet on the note; I clutch the edges of the black tone. It spins me around and I gasp, darting my eyes around the place. I see the other end! I never thought it would be this close, but you know what they say; never count your chickens before they hatch. Or in this case, never believe in the weather, as it huffs me into the one place I dread, the kitchen. I hesitate, trying to turn back the note into the living room.

You know, I curse my tiny arms. They’re not strong enough, they’re too feminine plus the colour is like milk, I didn’t make it. I’m on the kitchen counter top, trying to find my way back to the piano. Why, oh why do events like this always happen to me?

I huff; this is no time for complaining. No, I must run. Actually, as I kick up my heels and start to dash towards the edge, I must. The edge comes near, my eyes closing and the ground is lifted from my feet, my hair blowing away from my face as I tumble on the ground. The cats yawn blows my hair towards the front and my eyes bulge out of my head, my feet dashing towards the room.

Wood invades my vision and I skid to a halt, smirking at this enemy. Do you honestly think that I would be stopped by this? I tap my foot on the ground, skates appearing at the bottom of my heels and a glossy black ribbon shines in the moonlight. I tie my hair back with the piece of material and begin to dance. I feel like I’m flying, the spinning and twirling is making everything in the world into a blur, however the main prize is in my eyes, the piano.

I race towards it and finally, in what my mind seems like three thousand years, I made it! Now I need to get to the tip top of this masterpiece. I tap my feet, the skates sinking into my shoes like melting ice and I begin to climb. I claw the wood of the legs as I climb, sweat rolling down my cheeks and the thoughts about that annoying hissing behind me coming closer. However, I am the music note princess, and this princess never gives up!

I climb at a rapid pace like one of them guys that race to get what you guys call a ‘video game’. The end is near, I can feel the flat boards of the piano top slide under my hand, making it feel like silk. I slam my palms into the wood, pushing my entire body onto the board. Cheers start to echo throughout my ears as I huff heavily, laughing. Of course there is no one here, but can you just imagine if you were my size. Of course cheering is needed! I have done it! I made it here! Now there is one thing left to say for me.

Never lose hope, even in the darkest of hours. Also, don’t stare at me like I’m some circus freak because you know I’m right. I’m always right…

Au revoir!

This is fantastic! I noticed a few mistakes but I'm more interested in this idea. It's such a good little idea that you (if you can think of them) make up a little series of them. Other little princesses amongst the house.
For a short story you've added the right amount of description and the punctuation seems fine.

One of the best short stories I've ever read!

P.s Sorry this review is so short but there isn't much I can say about it because it's so good!

Really? Thank you so much! I'm really glad you like this!

I loved this. It was cute and original. It made me smile. It would be absolutely adorable to see an animated version of this. Everything about it was excellent. I didn't like how in that one paragraph you kept saying "no joke". There's nothing wrong with it; it just bothers me. I would try to find some better adjectives. Try getting a thesaurus or going to thesaurus.com and see if you can't add some zazzle with some new words. It really was fantastic. :)

Thank you very much!

Hi SunsetSprite,Dark here with review!

First of all, this fantasy story certainly have a good idea. It's about a special or mysterious piano that you have created at the beginning of the story lines.

If I were to tell you that there was something about that piano sitting in this corner of the room, would you stare? Would you laugh? Or would you blink? Well, I don’t mind which one of them you do, however there is one thing you mustn’t do, speak.

I like the message you want to convey in the story. On the hopes and ambitions of a Princess Musical Notes. But even though the story and your ideas are good, I can not find a story plot that exists here. It looks static without climax or settlement of an effective story.

A bit tips on word choice here;
# let’s stop with the questions and focus on the one thing, me*(myself instead of me?).
Try reread back and fix some that need improvement.

The punctuation also a bit excessive and inappropriate. Your story is actually good but less effective in aspects of delivering the story.Anyway,I enjoyed reading your story here, keep it up!
kudos,cheers

Thank you for this! I'm glad you liked it!
I know some things seem a little off but that's because I'm having a terrible writer's block at the moment.
Thanks again!
