Ooh so just a thought about the scents possibly not being of this world-- maybe the powers automatically have a scent from the chosen person's world (so Earthly people would get Earthly scents), but if our characters end up meeting this cosmic being, they could have some alien scent?

Does it seem like we’re going for a world with other fantasy stuff (but not human powers with the exception of the characters)? If so, maybe we could work out what those magical elements might be! ^-^

That's a good question. Maybe there could be an entire area affected by the meteor shower, and now there's a bunch of cool plants and strange animals.

Definitely agree with a magic forest! And mutated crows becoming 'dragons' sounds good (because all birds are secretly dragons <.<). So our characters would have been walking around somewhere near this forest for whatever reason, received the powers when the meteor shower hit, and then later discovered they had powers?
I was thinking hiking group, but a good ole’ picnic sounds good!

Sure! Idea fusing is always fun. That means at least one of them is familiar with the area. We could use that to our advantage.
