Yeah, you know what this is, lol. Soooo, the theme for me this year? Apocalypse. Because why not.

1. keeping secrets

this isn't what we asked for;
we were expecting zombies,
not a plague and we
still haven't found what we're looking for--

broken, hidden away
keeping secrets in our basements
and lying to their faces
like our jobs aren't on the line

and our lives, too
but that doesn't really
matter anymore

this isn't what we asked for
when we wanted the end of
the world -- world war three,
threats and misery

we were expecting zombies
not a plague making us sick;
the dead won't rise no more,
no more secrets left to keep

don't open;
dead inside

2. nothing remains

the streets are empty
and have no name;
signs faded grey,
missing or broken--
like the way they
broke the world when
they thought it wasn't
going to end

obviously, that was a lie

but this is where
you can reach me
now
when all else fails
and all else is dead

the streets are empty
and have no name;
it's been too long,
everyone's dead
and no one remembers
them anyway--
they thought they'd
never die

obviously, that was a lie

but this is where
you can reach me
now
when everything's gone
and nothing remains

3. no longer exists

the world as we know it
no longer exists;
it faded into history
and legend, ancient tales
told by kids to scare
the shadows away

they've been
raised by wolves
amongst the sheep
and sent out to
fend for themselves

and the world as we know it
no long exists,
faded, broken, hidden;
lost to time and
memory like
how it used to be

and we've been
raised by wolves
amongst the sheep,
sent off to fend
for ourselves

and the world as we know it
no longer exists;
it's been torn asunder,
broken and abused,
and set on fire that
last for a thousand years

expect poetry spam here for the next few days lol
