I've booked in six debriefs today... April is going to be a busy month. I need time for NaNo!
-
It's beautifully sunny outside but treacherously cold! Spring, could you just hurry up already?
-
IcyFlame Yes I changed my picture for the occasion. It may not be as cool as jam jars but I think it's cute 🖤

LadySpark I love your picture!!!
I will literally never change mine because it was sent to me by a dear YWSer and I have no idea where they got it. But I’ve see so many that would be so cute and it’s always a little tempting lok

Love that the norm for dealing with a business is now online chat rather than a phone call so my anxious heart doesn't have to get all worked up about calling a stranger

I don't poetry, so my #NaPoGoals are to read all your wonderful poems and to interact with the different threads as much as possible! I can't wait to read all the pretty words <3

Announcing 2023’s first Gen Lit Clinic!
What is Gen Lit Clinic? Gen Lit Clinic is a pad discussion where everyone brings a question or two related to the topic of the month. This month, that is story arcs.
The term ‘story arc’ can be used in a variety of ways, but for simplicity we’re going to take it in a very broad form. A story arc is basically the progression of your narrative across your short story, book or perhaps script. If you have a question about what kind of story arc you’re shaping, how to make it engaging, or what to do about conflict, ask it below!
An example question: how do you write an engaging redemption arc?
Gen Lit Clinic will happen on this date/time:
The pad link will be posted in the People’s Tab, so stay tuned for that!

FEBRUARY 28
WEEK 4
We hope you've had a wonderful Social Month this year!
For one of our final events, we want to say a big thank you to those that do some amazing work on YWS. Have you ever received a review that made you go ooh with a new idea, or that brought some super-helpful tips or a fresh perspective? Is there a reviewer who's been keeping up with all your chapters that you want to shout a million thank-yous to? Well, today you're encouraged to do exactly that! (Okay, perhaps not exactly-- a million is a lot-- but you get the idea)
Your challenge is to write a thank-you note to a reviewer you appreciate!
That reviewer can be someone who's reviewed one of your works, or someone you've seen around the site that you'd like to thank! You can even try writing a thank-you note from the point of view of one of your characters! It's up to you how you'd like to write your thank-you note(s), but be sure to give yws's amazing reviewers all the respect and appreciation they deserve!

FEBRUARY 27
WEEK 4
Have you recently read an amazing work that you genuinely enjoyed but could not find the time to review? Was there something you really liked about a work and wanted to remark on, but did not want to get into the intricacies of writing a review? Our next activity provides just the solution for this: Leave a Comment!
To participate, just comment on literary works of your choice, expressing your general thoughts about them.
Literary comments are those comments that are not marked as a review. Literary comments are a quick and convenient alternative to reviews, especially when you are short on time and don't really want to get into the hassle of writing a long and detailed review. However, please make sure that your comments are specific to the work and contain substantial input, for their main purpose is to encourage our writers and appreciate them.
For example, if you like a particular work, then don't just leave a comment saying "Nice work!" Instead, elaborate on why you liked it or what elements stood out for you or what can be improved, etc.
You can also add the links of your comments to the Social Month Badge thread under reply/comment to earn the Social Butterfly Badge!Have fun and happy #socialmonth everybody!

It's time to get down to some #GreenRoomQueries ! To participate, have a look at works currently in the Green Room. Then, choose a work that interests you and go to the author's wall. Ask them a question or two about the work and add the hashtag #GreenRoomQueries . For example, you could ask what inspired the piece of writing, what are their plans for it, who is their favourite character to write, etc.
Have fun!
