I am a shape shifter
I change my appearance
To make it easier for you
to disregard me
You play a symphony of hate
And I sing along in perfect harmony
I've been a puppet far too long
Lyrics mimic emotions
An actor in your play
Never the main character
Always the villain
Just wait until we remove our masks
Emotions play like piano keys
Missed notes that didn't fit well
I forgot we were acting
What's real
Wait until you run out of lines
That's when I rise
After the curtain call

A blur and an eternity

Years flow by like hours
That feel only a second
As we waste our time
Stairing at the wall
Forget all the things we should have said
How I could of remember you better
Had I not been afraid
Had I not run out of time
That's why I no longer move
Because I am separate from the clock
My hand no longer mark the hours
why does the clock keep on ticking
What was a blur
Becomes my eternity

self love feels more like a sin
I didn't mean
To look like I was bragging
When I was proud of myself
But it seems almost a sin
To think I did well
To believe in myself
To think I might be more then
Begrudgingly accepted
To assume I am your friend
Seemed like too much
Who would want that of me?
Why does it seem so hard to believe someone does?
To convince myself it's okay
To love myself

great minds think alike never meant a thing to me
Some talk of silence
What is life without constant thought
My personal narrator
There is no silence in my mind
Some talk of loving yourself
What is life without the constant memories of what you did wrong
Every way I am not perfect
My mind holds no self love without guilt
Some talk of peace
Times where you don't live in constant fear
Who will hate me
When will it end
I can't explain what I am afraid of
What is life without fear
What is it like for you

I love all those angsty poems, they hit right to the spot with those questions and the last one is a haiku. I believe?? I am really uneducated when it comes to different types of poetry lol but I am really glad that you're trying new structures and the emotions are very real! Great so far! We got thisss

Forgotten power of words too often used

Words have power
They can build up cities
They can tear down walls
That can make you cry
They can make you fly
We can choose when and how we use them
We can forget how they feel against our skin
Words have power
I gave your words power
I let you lable me
I let you change me
No more
Words have lost their power over me
I communicate no longer with words
My world holds no labels
Your expectations have no meaning
When you can tell them
I see the colors
I feel the wind
But your words
Can't hurt me
I am free

Anxiety
Hands shake and hearts beat
I can't steady racing thoughts
Just trying to breathe

I used to always think I could fly
jumping off the couch
thinking about how high I went
then I learned that somone who can fly
is just somone who doesn't have an anchor

Distance isn't just about unwanted space

Always so passively present
Always there
Never there for me
Still as I am here for you
You remain distant
Words seem to fall between us
A distance no love could cross
To matter how hard I try
I will never say I don't love you
But over years
I have learned how to not need you
You are the crutches
I no longer need
But for some reason
I keep them in the corner of my room
For all the memories they hold
Someday I will leave
Or maybe you will first
But no distance could change
How little you loved me

She cried and no one listened

It seems so easy
we live in comfort
we spend our days at ease
We bask in water drawn from her depths
her lungs long lost their breath
Snowflakes become sunrays
and the sky gives no warning
A mirage the only water
that should be feeding the flower's blossoms
the money tree we prune so carefully
is now dead
and we print paper in its stead
her tears are lost
we rely on the fact
that the world keeps turning
what happens to your world of green
when she finally dies?
