We first meet an extraterrestrial named Marloth who lives on the Betelgeuse 5, also known as Ukungu, and a group of humans whose destination is that same planet, including Captain Paul Schneiderman, Dr. Wallace Snare, Chief Engineer Albert Nicholson, and a technician known as Cindy. The alien is captured by the group of humans after he tries to eat one of them (he didn't mean to, he thought they were food!).
