Today, the Young Writers Society suffered a database crash. Without getting technical, the database had become increasingly corrupted over the past three years (since we moved to the current server). This was not a problem when the site had light activity. But with heavy activity in the past few days, it has increasingly become an issue. However, in fixing the corrupted files, the database suffered a crash and had to be built back from scratch.
The good news is that the site should now be faster, and we'll suffer less downtime from here on out.
The bad news is that about 7 hours are missing. The last database backup was from 10 am GMT December 18. The database crashed at about 5pm GMT December 18. Any messages, comments, reviews, etc., posted during this period are irretrievably gone. Fortunately, this should only affect a small minority of users.
My apologies for any inconvenience this cost.
