Come on people! Let's get this moving!

Kyle

I drop out of the game after Suzanne gets hurt. This place is no fun. Even the easiest game ends in disaster. I head back to the house clutching my sketchbook tightly to my chest. When I finally get settled into my room, I pull out a marker. It was time to doodle, I think. I laugh to myself as I see what is emerging on my paper. It's someone's squished face with a ball just bouncing off of it. At least I'm getting a lot of fun things to draw here. I flip back to my half-finished drawing of the sunset. I decide to add a little color using pastel crayons. Pretty much my entire backpack is full of art supplies and books. It was getting late and I could hear voices downstairs. Suddenly noticing my lack of pizza, I pull a granola bar from my suitcase and eat it in three big bites. Maybe I should try to talk to them again, I think as I go downstairs to join them. I am beginning to feel very lonely and I know the only way to get over that is to talk to other people.
Geneva is sitting at the counter eating a bowl of icecream. "Hi," I say timidly. "Is it good?" I ask pointing to the bowl. She licks her lips.
"Oh yeah, it's delicious. Here sit," she patted the stool next to her. "How have you been? It's been two years right?"
I lick my lips and nod. "Yeah, two years. You were here last year?"
"Yeah," she replies. "It was fun, we went to a water park and everything."
"Cool," I nod. "Yeah, I convinced my mom to let me stay behind last year. Since there's not many people my age, it's not much fun."
"I'm your age," she says frowning. "Ever think I was disappointed you weren't here last year?"
No never, I think to myself but don't say it. There isn't a good answer to this question. Instead, I blush. Geneva laughs.

Everyone starts to head back inside. I go inside to check on my sister, because I was really worried about her. As I walked to our room we shared, Alec was walking out of it. "Shhh, she is sleeping." He said.
"Thank you for taking care of her, I need to slip in though." I said.
He nodded and moved away. I walked in so she could not hear me. I turned the sound machine on so she would not be able to hear anthing. I grab my guitar and walk back out, closing the door softly. I walk into the living room and give my guitar to Ira. He smiles brightly at me and I sit down at the paino. I wait for him to get set up and I start play. The only song I could think of that most everyone would know was I Want you Back by the Jackon Five. Everyone knows that right? Plus, Ira and I sound great together on that.
I play in intoduction and just have fun with it. "When I had you to myself
I didn't want you around
Those pretty faces always make you
Stand out in a crowd
But some one picked you from the bunch
One glance was all it took
Now it's much too late for me
To take a second look." We sing everyone gathers and I ask Lakeland to sing as well.
"Oh baby give me one more chance
Won't you please let me
Back in your heart
Oh darlin I was blind to let you go
But now since I see you in his arms
I want you back
Oh I do now
I want you back
Ooh ooh baby
I want you back
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Na na na na." We all sing together. Everyone ends up singing and having a great time. I bust out in a piano solo and Ira just laughs. "Oh baby all I need is one more chance
(To show you that I love you)
Won't you please let me
(Back in your heart)
Oh darlin I was blind to let you go
(Let you go baby)
But now since
I see you
in his arms
Uh-huh." We sing the chours another times and we end it there. I slide my hand across all the keys and Ira and I end on a beautiful chord. We all clap and smile at each other.

I was sitting at the counter scooping at my pistachio ice cream when Kyle wandered back downstairs.

"Hi," he started, "Is it good?"

"Oh yeah, it's delicious. Here sit," I motioned for him to join me. "How have you been? It's been two years right?"

Kyle licked his lips. "Yeah, two years. You were here last year?"

Was I ever. Last year was one of my favourites. "Yeah," I replied, "It was fun, we went to a water park and everything." I remembered the awesome bikini I bought the week before- the same one I had packed this time.

"Cool," Kyle nodded. "Yeah, I convinced my mom to let me stay behind last year. Since there's not many people my age, it's not much fun."

"I'm your age," I said, a little insulted. "Ever think I was disappointed you weren't here last year?"

Kyle's cheeks reddened and I laughed. "So you're pretty good at drawing, right? Can I see?"

Kyle paled a bit, "Well..."

"Plea-ase?" I did my best eyelash batting. "I can get down on my knees if you'd like."

After Suzanne's volleyball injury, the game pretty much dissipated. We all jogged inside to make sure Suzanne was okay, then someone broke out the ice cream and most of us headed out to watch the sunset. Faint guitar chords hummed from inside, where Ira and Liz were singing. The heat of the day was fading, though the sand was still warm to our feet.

"Campfire time, Ladies and Gents?" I suggested. "Maybe we can have a good old fashioned game of Truth or Dare."

"I can get down on my knees if you'd like," says Geneva batting her eyelashes.
"Um, I guess," I say, pulling my sketchbook from my back pocket. There are some pictures in there that I never want anyone to see. But I think there are some she might enjoy. I open it to the picture of Suzanne being hit by the volleyball. She laughs.
"Wow you are really good!"
"Thanks," I mumble and turn back to the sunset picture. Geneva ooh's over that one. Next I show her a couple doodles of guys on skateboards and girls dancing.
"Where do you hang out dude?" she asked worriedly.
"Don't worry, I'm not a delinquent. I just like to gather inspiration from all around me." She nods and points to the next picture which is of a butterfly.
"Pretty," she says. The next picture shocks her a bit. It is of boy laying on the ground covered in bruises and cuts. She gasps. "That looks so real!" I shrug and quickly move through my sketchbook, skipping the ones that would probably convict me of insanity.

"I am up for that." I say, grabbing my guitar from Ira. We all head out side and it is beautiful out here. We all bring chairs around the fire that the guys are making and I look out at the water. I strum a few chord on my guitar and smile as the sun disappears.

The fire is up and we all sit around the fire. I put my guitar in its case and bring my knees to my chest. I watch as people get dared to do stuff and find out even more about these people. "Liz, your turn." Isaac says. "Truth or dare?"

"Liz, so no pick truth again." Ira stutters.

"You always pick truth." Ruth adds in.

"Okay, fine. Dare." I say.

Susanne was hurt when we were playing and I was pretty worried for her. I thought I was about to be hurt because I was thinking of the words James told me. He's pretty sweet, if you ask me. And even last year, he was one of the most amazing friends I'd ever had. I've been silently crushing on him, but I don't want to spill it out.

The game's over now and we go back to the house. Everyone's worried especially Alec since he's got a super crush over Susanne. He even carried her back bridal style. But I guess there was no other way.

"Hey, you okay? You kind of seemed like your mind wasn't on the game." James comes up to me and says.

"Oh, its nothing... Just thinking about...stuff." I reply.

"You sure?"

"Yeah, thanks." I nod and look at him. Oh, god. His hair is so distractive. Suddenly, I see myself reaching for his hair and playing with it.

Autumn, what the hell are you doing?!

He seems a little taken aback but he doesn't stop me. I realize what I was doing, finally and let go. I give a tiny smile.

"No, its okay. It kind of felt nice." he said.

"Your hair's soft." I tell him and he laughs.

"Well, that's a first."

We see Alec coming down, looking really worried. I walk to him and hug him. He was my brother after all, he belonged in this family and I couldn't see him hurt.

"I just don't want anything to happen to her." he says, his voice shaking.

"She'll be alright, trust me. Come on, we'll go enjoy the campfire." I tag his hand but he lets go.

"No, you guys go ahead. I want to stay here." he tells me and I nod. I understand that.

Me and James walk back to the campfire where I hear Liz choose Dare. I sit beside James. A question comes up in my mind.

"Okay. Go tell the guy who you love the most here, how you feel about him."

Liz stares at me and I know she's going to kill me after this. But a dare's a dare. And from here onwards, we'll at least get to know who she likes. Ruth smiles so wide.

"You can't escape it, Liz. You have to go for it." she adds and we all wait eagerly.

So so sorry my lovelies, I was dealing with some family stuff :/ but I'm back now!

Ruth

Alec hung back with Susanne even though she was asleep, and I couldn't help but smile. It was so cute. I don't even know if he knows he likes her yet, but come on, there's no way he doesn't.

***

A wide grin crossed my face when Liz was given her dare.

"And your brother doesn't count." I add with a laugh, gaining a dirty look from my friend.

The group began smiling, some even leaning in a bit to be sure to see. Then there was Lakeland, who suddenly became sulky, crossing his arms and staring at the ground. What's that all about?

Lakeland

I really didn't need to see this. It's one thing for her to like someone, of course I get that, but really, right in front of me?

I debated getting up so I wouldn't have to see the girl who made me fall for her when I was just a kid, just before my dad died, tell someone else she likes them. But I couldn't get up....everyone would question it. People would ask why. I couldn't. So I sat, turning my angry gaze to the ground, and waited.

My eyes go wide and I know my face is blood red. Oh course, I like Lakeland. I want to tell him this way. I really do not want to do this, but it is a dare. "I..um" I begin.

"You cannot say your brother." Ruth says and I stare at her. I bite my bottom lip and watch as everyone stares at me. I take a deep breath and close my eyes for a moment.

"I, um, I do like someone." I say. I see Lakeland tense up and that makes what I am about to say much harder. "Lakeland, I really like you and I have liked you for a long time. I just never knew how to tell you because I was a afraid that you did not like me." I say. I stand up, pretty embarrassed. I feel like my heart is about to beat out of my chest. "I am going to go inside." I tell everyone. I walk into the house quickly and walk into the room with my piano. I sigh, and play a few notes on it.

Lakeland

I stared at the spot Liz had just been, my mouth practically on the ground.

Wiping my hands on my jeans, I stood and began to follow her. I walk onto her piano room, and watch her as she plays a few notes. Walking beside her, I placed my hands on the piano next to hers.

I thought for a moment, trying to remember, and pressed the keys to match the song she taught me four summers ago, just after my Dad died. I sat down as I tried to keep playing, and it went well for about ten seconds, but then I messed up.

"I never have been any good at piano." I said with a soft chuckle, "That's always been your thing. Cars....cars are more my thing."

She said nothing, and I finally turned to face her, "Liz...." I looked her dead in the eye, "I like you, too. I've liked you for years."

When he come in, I just feel like he is going to tell me that I embarrassed him. When he speaks about liking cars, I do not even reply. I try to hold back all the feelings I have. Then, he faces me, looking me right in the eyes. "Liz, like you too. I've like you for years." He says, his eyes telling me everything a lot deeper than his word.

I swear my hear skipped a beat and a smile formed on my face. "Really?' I asked, looking up at him.

"Yes, really." He says, sitting on the stool next to me. I felt so relieved in happy that he really does like me back. All this time I had been so worried that he did not like me.

"Well, what a nice way to start of the summer." I say to him.

I hung back around the house after everyone left. I paced up and down outside of where Susanne slept. I didn't want to disturb her sleeping. I bit my lip and opened the door, just to see if she was alright. She slept peacefully on top of the bed. I sighed and sat next to her. "You poor little thing." I ran a finger through her hair and kissed the top of her head.

She stirred, but didn't wake up. I rubbed her hand and slid on the bed next to her. I wrapped my arm around her and held her closer for warmth. Soon enough I was dreaming to.

To be honest, I feel a little sorry for Liz. We have been good friends for a while and I know she does not like to be put on the spot. On the other hand, I am so happy that she told him. I mean everyone knew they have had a thing for each other for a very long time. When Lakeland gets up and leaves, everyone looks at each other and smiles. "What do you think they are saying?" Ruth says.

"Well you so know Lakeland is telling her that he has feeling for her as well." I say.

"They are going to be so cute together." Autumn says. "So, shall we continue?" She asks everyone.

We all nod. "So Autumn, truth are dare?" I ask.

I knew Lakeland and Liz had a thing and I was quite happy for my brother. He can't hide things from me or he knows I can figure it out. He goes off with Liz to talk to her after Liz expresses her feelings to him, leaving us to play the rest of the game.

"So Autumn, truth or dare?" James asks me, and I go kind of embarrassed. it had to me.

"Eh-he-he. I don't know... Dare, I guess." I say, smirking. This should be fun.
