Kat
Kat turned the oven on so she could begin to cook dinner for her brother and herself. He father had not been home in a few days because of work, but he was ment to be home yesterday. Kat did not like her father all that much, but after all he was her father. She did feel a little worried. She sighed and began to cook. "You know, I would not care if he never came back. You do all the work anyway, Kat. He just spends it all with the drugs. I would not care if he went to he..." Andrew began to say.
"Don't talk like that, Andrew." Kat said. "He just misses mom, that's all." She said, putting the rolls into the oven.
"Kat, that was seven years ago. He needs to move on." He hops up on the counter next to her and looks her in the eyes. "It is just not fair that you do all of this and he does not care."
"I agree with you, I do. He is our father, though. It is just another bump in the road." Kat said.
"No, he is bigger than a bump." Andrew said.
Kat could not help but laugh. She put a lid over the top of the pot so it could sit and she sat next to Andrew. She grabbed the remote next to her and turns the TV on. It was news about the mutants, so she sighed and changed the channel. "Kat?" Andrew said.
She turned to face him. "Yes?"
"Do you ever worry about the mutants?"
"Doesn't everyone? Of course I am a little worried, but I know that we are safe for the most part. I try not to let it bother me." Kat said. She got off the counter to check the food and it was done. Andrew got out the plates and got a huge spoonful of chicken alfredo. "That is a little much." She said getting herself some.
"I am a growing boy." He laughed. "I need a lot."
Kat just rolled her and put some food on her plate. She looked at the food she had left and looked back at Andrew. "If you want to invite the Marshals over, we have enough." Kat said.
Andrew thanked her and went to the phone and called their house. For some reason, my dad trusted them. "I left them a message." He said.
"Okay. I guess we will see if they will come." Kat said. She sat at the table and stared at her food. She began to think more about the mutants. What were they like? She had never really seen one and was not really wanting too. What would happen if she was confronted with one? Kat tried to shake the thoughts out of her head. She smiled at Andrew and sipped on her water.
