Oh I was going to have the father bring slaves home in my first post. Of no one wants to start out as a slave it's fine, but I thought it would be a nice starting point because it would establish their position; I noticed alotof storybooks have people wandering around meaningless in the beginning.

I'll be a mutant slave, if you need one. c:

Appearance: Danny has claws that she files to short, sharp points. Both her hands and feet are padded which give her amazing balance and the ability to grip the ground and cause her to run at incredible speeds. To hide her hands she wears leather gloves. Age: 13

Mutant/Human: Human

Appearance: http://us.123rf.com/400wm/400/400/elena ... ground.jpg

Personality: Amy is happy, bubbly, and optimistic. She's a sweet girl with an incredibly compassionate nature. She has numerous older brother types ready and willing to beat up anyone who makes her cry, and Amy is not above taking advantage of it. Still she's a good kid. Amy looks for the best in everyone and is often blindsided when people treat her poorly. In contrast she is fiercely protective of her little brother who often hides in her shadow. Highly intelligent and goal driven.

History: Amy lives with her Grandpa Jake and her kid brother Jaimie. Despite the fact that they are human they live in the slums. Her grandfather owns a bar and grill where Amy waitresses part time. Her 6 year old brother Jaimie was born as a Fox Mutant due to a recessive gene. Amy's mother died giving birth to him and their father tried to kill 'the thing'. Furious their grandfather took the newborn Jaimie and the 7 year old Amy with him and moved to the slums.

As a child Amy often brought home hurt or injured animals and nursed them back to health. She was planning on becoming a vet, and has four dogs, six cats, a pair of birds and a turtle. However her dream changed when at the age of 9 she dragged home a half-dead Ven. The newly freed Ven nearly froze to death in the dead of winter. After she helped thaw him out Amy decided she was going to become the first Mutant Docter.

Up for love: No, she has a boyfriend, actually I was wondering if she could date Alex's younger son, Riley.

Other: Amy has been nicknamed the Bulldozer because she is stubborn and will run right over you if you get between her and someone in pain.

Spoiler
There we go everyone, first post!

Kari
Kari rootled through the trash at her feet, her jet black hair swinging in front of her eyes. Her wings were tucked close to her back so that the guards on top of the wall couldn’t see that she was a mutant. It was dangerous being this close to the wall, but it was where you could find the best trash, the stuff that got you the most money. There weren’t very many mutants left close to the wall, but then again, it was almost sunset.

Kari looked up from the trash and observed the guards on top of the wall who were observing her. Their faces leapt into focus. Kari could see everything, every little hair on their heads, the tiny beads of sweat that were gathering on their foreheads. One of them reached for the radio attached to his belt. Kari scrambled away from the wall and into the warren of streets behind it.

As she made her way through the maze, she passed through a square that was packed with people listening to a mutant speak. His tail thrashed back and forth angrily and the white tiger at his side looked ready to attack. The tiger triggered her memory. This man was the leader of the Revolution. She stopped observe the crowd, making sure that her hair covered the myriad of scars etched onto the left side of her face. There were a lot of cat mutants in the crowd, but also a few humans hovering around the edges and she tried to stay away from them.

They were the slavers. They came to capture mutants to make into slaves for humans. Even though they tried to disguise themselves, it never worked. Humans held themselves more confidently than mutants, they weren’t tormented by the discrimination against their kind. Kari knew that the slavers wouldn’t make a move in a place that was so full of mutants. They’d wait until the crowd dispersed, then strike one particular target. Kari grimaced slightly. She’d have to get out of there before that.

Stopping for a second, she listened to the horned mutants speech.

“Friends, why should we suffer in silence? We are equal to the humans and they should remember that! They should remember that we were humans before the virus too!”

Kari turned away. She couldn’t listen anymore. The mutant’s words resounded in her heart so much that it hurt. She wasn’t inferior to a human. But they would never be able to overthrow the humans. She sighed and started down the road next to her. Lights started to shine in the windows lining the street and she realised that the sun was setting. Her palms started to sweat. Looking up at the sky again, she decided to take her models and trash to the trader the next day. She changed road and rubbed her palms on her trousers, trying to calm down. She tried to keep to lit areas. He’s not here, he can’t hurt me. He’s not here, he can’t hurt me. she chanted to herself.

She rounded a corner and almost walked into a little girl drawing in the mud at the side of the road. Her long black hair almost touched the ground as she crouched down and her small bat wings were spread. Further down the road, another mutant stood watching her. Kari couldn’t tell whether it was a male or a female, but she could clearly see their tail flicking through the air behind them. They evidently didn’t know about the humans. Kari drew one of her daggers from her belt and pointed it at the little girl, whose eyes widened.

“Kid, scarper off to your friend before I slit your throat,” she growled. The girl scrambled to her feet and ran towards the person further down the road. Kari sheathed the dagger and turned down the road. A cheer sounded from the direction of the meeting and she sped up, not wanting to be caught up in the darkness with the crowd.

She came to a ramshackle building with a door on the ground floor and a large opening on the first floor. Kari quickly checked that no one was around and snapped open her wings with a sigh of relief. She swept her wings once, sending small flurries of dust scampering down the road. Smiling slightly, she gave a powerful sweep of her wings and propelled herself through the opening on the first floor.

She tumbled through the opening, avoiding the models as se did so. Dumping her bag among them, she padded over to a corner littered with feathers and pieces of cloth, turning on a lamp as she passed. Curling up in a ball among the feathers and cloth, she covered herself with her wings, leaving her head free. She took a few breaths and quickly fell asleep.

Nadia Harlem

Nadia sat in the road near a mud puddle bored. She took a stick and sat and drew her self. A girl walked around the corner almost stepping on Nadia and glared.

“Kid, scarper off to your friend before I slit your throat,” The hooded girl growled at her as she drew a dagger from her cloak. Nadia ran down the road to Lilly. She hid behind her as the hooded figure swept her self into the building near by.

Nadia was curious to find out what was going on inside. She took Lilly's hand and pulled her towards the building. Nadia watched as she saw the hooded figure now with her wing's spread across the room. The girl settled in the corner and slept. Nadia and Lilly hadn't slept in days so Nadia was instantly jealous of how easily she found time for sleep.

The crowd inside the building stared at the young girl and she instantly became shy. Nadia took Lilly's hand in her's and made her way though the crowd to a open spot on the ground. Nadia took off her hood to reveal her large bat ears. The wind from the door blew on her ears giving them instant relief from being hidden inside her hood.

"Can you braid my hair?" Nadia whispered into Lilly's ear and she nodded pulling her into her lap. Lilly's sure fingers spun though Nadia's long dark hair. She tied it off with a piece of lose thread and set Nadia on a near by blanket. The young child was used to living in close to nothing and eating complete waste, so this was almost a dream come true for her. She hadn't eaten in the past 4 days and her stomach was screaming and biting at her for food. Lilly had gotten up a couple minutes earlier and had now just returned with a handful of bread and cheese. They ate in silence as people slowly began to calm down around them and sleep.

"Go to sleep Nadia" Lilly whispered to the child. Nadia nodded and laid her head on Lilly's lap. She felt Lilly shaking, Nadia knew she was crying but this had become normal for them. Lilly started to stroke Nadia's hair soothing her and causing her to fall asleep to the soft shuttering of Lilly's body.

Alex

Sometimes, when he walked past a mirror, Alex Marshal didn't recognise the man he saw. When a train going forwards passes another going backwards, everything seems to speed up, and Alex had been on the backwards train since he was a child. Since his brother had wondered into the living room complaining about a strangely shaped rash over his heart. There were days where he looked at George and wondered if he was just looking at a broken mirror that had forgotten about him growing old. Still, George was anything but broken. No matter how strict Alex was with him, he never lost that defiant spark in his eyes, unwavering in his convictions. Alex would have to look away. Those eyes carried haunting memories that George didn't truly understand; memories that Alex could never properly explain to his son.

They were good kids. Smart. Loyal to each other no matter what. Once upon a time, kids like that had bright futures. Education, employment, marriage, family and, eventually, a comfortable death fit for hard working men. Now, things didn't look so certain. Every day, Alex would wake up and stare at the wall behind his back garden, watching the soldiers patrolling along the walkway. Their machine guns would sway with their gait, tapping their thighs like impatient fingers drumming on a rail. This used to be a nice neighbourhood, a suburb. It had cost Alex dearly to find a safe corner of the world to raise his boys in, but now his house was worth so little he couldn't even sell it. Besides, his only other option would be to rent something, a tiny flat, in the city until he could pay off the mortgage. Locked up in the great towers of a metropolis on the brink of insurrection, surrounded on all sides by the poor, the angry and the desperate. No, the Marshals were trapped here, at least until George would be old enough to get a job. Unless of course he were to leave and make his own way. Alex never knew what his son was thinking, but was never brave enough to ask.

About 5 pm, and Alex Marshal was in his tiny garden, scratching his head softly and staring at a pile of bricks. It was supposed to have been for barbecues, something he'd built one afternoon while his wife was pregnant with Riley. They were going to have cookouts in the summer and invite the whole street. All their old friends could fly down and stay on mattresses in the house, or in their cars, or even in tents in the garden. Good food and drink and sharing stories about their kids learning to walk. A life. Now, Alex was trying to work out if he'd be able to dismantle the useless pile of bricks and cement and sell the result. He didn't have much for tools, though, and most of the neighbours he could've once asked for help had left the area. Maybe a sledgehammer would do it...
"He-ey, Mr Marshal!" A voice, a young man, called down to him. Alex turned and looked up at the wall, just behind his back garden.
"Hello Joseph. How's your father?" The boy had to lean forwards and frown with concentration to make sense of Alex's voice.
"Oh, he's ok. I think he's starting to get better actually."
"I'm glad to hear that, son. How's it looking on the other side?" The young man laughed, his gun shaking in tune to his mirth.
"Mr Marshal, you know you're not supposed to ask me that."
"Well it was a worth a try. If it's that bad, you should probably keep your guard up." Alex smiled politely, hoping the boy would walk on.
"You're probably right... Nice talking with ya, Mr Marshal." Joseph waved a little, his hand never straying far from his gun, and went back to his patrol. Alex felt the first suggestion of rain, missing his hair entirely and landing on the growing baldness on the back of his head. He fingered it idly as he walked back inside, briefly catching Riley's eye as he took something out of the fridge, before darting off upstairs to his room. He was spending far too much time on his computer. Alex locked the garden door behind him and went into the living room, finding George reading a book; some battered paperback that looked like it'd been dragged through a puddle. George didn't look up as Alex sat down and turned the TV on, which was set to news. Menacing pictures flashed up from the capital city; a boy with a shaggy dog's tail throwing a brick at a shop window, then legging it into an alleyway. A helicopter trawling lazily over a mutant slum. Alex sighed and switched it off, suddenly feeling George's eyes on him.
"You know you can read that stuff on your computer, right? That thing looks a hundred years old." Alex pointed at the little paperback, but George was undeterred.
"It's getting worse, you know. Two of my lessons were canceled today because our teachers skipped town... Do we have a plan?" His voice was level, he was focused.
"A plan for what?"
"For when it all kicks off."
"It's not going to kick off."
Alex locked eyes with his son for a moment, but looked away a moment later. After a few seconds of uncomfortable silence, he stood up and walked towards his little gym in his bedroom. He could feel George's gaze follow him out of the room and up the stairs. Riley's door was open and Alex briefly peered in and cleared his throat. The boy was sat at his computer, talking softly into a little headset, but suddenly scrambled to change whatever was showing up on his screen. He spun around in his chair, looking flustered.
"Do you want anything for dinner, Riley?"
"No, I'm good. I've already got something."
"Sure." Alex wondered what else to say, then smiled slightly and left the room. Neither of his boys were children any more. Some day soon, they'd be men, like their father. Alex stepped into his own room and added a few kilograms to yesterday's weight. It was about time he got back to his progression, and he felt he needed the challenge to distract his mind. George was right that there wasn't a plan. Alex wasn't even sure what he was supposed to be planning for. Revolution? The news had been warning about some new mutant leader in the slums of his city making waves. If things got violent, the boys would be in danger. Alex hovered down over the bar like a mantis, cutting his breath short as he heaved the heavy weight up to his hips.

One thing was for sure, if a single mutant were to touch his boys, Alex would not hesitate to kill them. He let the weight drop with a crash on the floor and his eyes darted towards his bedside table. He shut the door and crossed over to it, removing the pistol that had saved his life as a young soldier. It was comforting; the familiar grip and weight of the barrel, proportioned just right for a steady shot. Alex caught a glance of himself in the mirror, expecting to see a young man in Navy gear gazing steadily back at him.

Instead there was an old man, out of his depth with a tiny gun.

Danny

Danny crouched on top of a rooftop that was overlooking the square. The square was filled to the brim with mutants lending an ear to Vengeance Moon, a Siberian tiger mutant who was leading the Revolution. He was younger than Danny by a few years, but he had a way with his fellow mutants that motivated them to survive the slums. Danny had heard rumors about him, about how he was leading the mutant masses to salvation. She had doubted the truth of this until now. She had to see it for herself.

"Friends, comrades, why should we suffer in silence? We are equal to the humans and they should remember that! They should remember that we were humans before the virus too! Our parents, our ancestors came from a long line of humans very much alike to those living just opposite of that wall. In fact, I would go so far as to say that our ancestors were better than those living in the cities. Our ancestors were proud and happy to live a life of freedom. Those ungrateful sods are living in our ancestor's cities, using us as slaves, as servants! They take us for granted, they live in fear of us, do you know why?"

Vengeance paused and paced where he stood, lashing his tail about. The observing crowd he had captivated stood in awe, some cheering, others nodding their heads in agreement.

"Because they know, for a fact that a Revolution is coming. A Revolution so strong and unlike any from the history books, they know that those they suppress will rise!" Vengeance declared his final statement and the sea of onlookers erupted into a roar of applause.

Searchlights suddenly swept over the crowd from the wall, ceasing the noise. The fire Vengeance had aroused from the congregation of supporters died. Hoods, cloaks and jackets covered the mutant apendages and the body dispersed. Alone in the center was Vengeance. Danny stood and laughed, her canine teeth glinted in the moonlight. The Revolution had been stirring for years, almost two decades. Many young mutants had stepped into the limelight to lead the fight, Danny Spence among them. She assumed that young Moon was the same, still motivated by his youth.

Her golden eyes narrowed as a spotlight caught her in it's beam. She pulled her aviator goggles down from her her cap and turned to run across the rooftops of the slums. The fur on her neck prickled and turned back to look down on the square, only to meet the icy stare of Vengeance. With a final glance, she bounded across the rooftops away from sight.
