Name: Derek Young

Age: 23

Illness: Narcissistic personality disorder, delusions of grandeur, grandiosity

Apperance:
Spoiler
Image

Personality: At first glance he's charming, playful and kind but you soon realize that his huge ego lurks underneath the pleasant exterior. He thinks he's better than most people, and that only unique and special people like himself can understand him. He tends to look down at almost everyone.
Derek believes that he can do anything, like flying, and when he's of his meds he completely looses contact with reality and often does dangerous things just because he thinks he can.

History: Derek has always known that he is better than everyone else, special, you might say. His father held a high up position in the government, so Derek's family never had to worry about money or influence. He graduated high school several years earlier than his peers. He went straight to Harvard where he studied law for a couple of years, before realizing that he was meant for something more.
Against his father's wishes he began working as an actor, but quit when he wasn't chosen during an audition. After that he spent most of his time in nightclubs, wasting his father's money on booze and women.
When he turned 21 he met a guy named Carl, a genius like himself who also somehow knew that he was better than everyone else. Together they started a law firm that quickly became successful. Derek started having dreams about flying, and actually believed that he could fly in reality, which he told Carl about. After a few months they both jumped from the roof of their law firm. Carl died from the fall, but Derek survived with just a broken leg. At that point his parents realized that their son's strong confidence wasn't natural and admitted him to a psychiatric hospital. He still believes that it was his ability to fly that saved him from the fall.

Theme Song: Deadwood by Dirty Pretty Things

Up For Love: Yes, bi.

Other: He smokes, a lot.

Name: August "Gus" Drenn

Age: 20

Illness: Synaesthesia
Spoiler
The sensory links are intermixed. When a person senses something, automatically, another sensation lights up. For example patients see letters in different colors, some might see music, or taste words, days of the week have personalities, and some experience to see time, etc.
and Todd's Syndrom
Spoiler
a neurological condition that distorts perception, causing disorientation and a warping of the senses

Appearance: She's 5"5 and skinny, not anorexic, just skinny. Her eyes are as dark as her hair, so black you can barely tell her pupils apart from the iris. She has pale freckles around her nose and a paint-splatter birthmark on the left of her chin.
Spoiler
Image

Personality: August is, at best, a skeptic. She knows what she has, she knows nothing she sees is how it is, and because of that she is reluctant to believe anything as truth, she doesn't even know what truth is. Because of this she is jumpy, always questioning herself and reality - what is and what is not. Most of the time she feels as if she's wandering around in different realities, different dreams, and doesn't always think her actions are permanent. She's sarcastic, snappy, and reckless.

History: August's parents knew she was different ever since she rejected her carrots because she didn't like the taste of the color orange. But because they were a stereotypical, middle-class, conservative family they didn't want to acknowledge any deformities in their children. They carried on with life and pretended not to notice when August made comments on Wednesday's bad attitude or not liking the way Beethoven's Fifth looked. Her teachers simply though she had a poetic mind. She soon developed Todd's Syndrome, refusing to enter the school because she couldn't fit, yelling that her head was too big on her body, her trying to fit into doll clothes, etc.
During August's senior year in high school she decided to seek help for herself, realizing she wasn't normal. She's been in the hospital ever since then. Knowledge of her disease only made her worse, she tried to kill herself just to see if she would die. Reality is forever distorted for her now.

Theme Song: Daisy by Brand New

Up For Love (Yes Or No and Preference): Yes, no preferences.

Other: She puts herself through a lot of destructive behavior - smoking, drugs when she can get them, etc.

So, here's my second character.

Name: Johanna Yukiko

Age: 19

Illness: Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)
Spoiler

Apperance:
She almost always wears gloves. There's a big scar around her left wrist.
Spoiler
Image

Personality: She is extremely insecure, and tries to avoid other people as much as possible. When confronted she tends to look down at her feet, doing her very best to hide her hands.
Her hands are never still, and she is extremely conscious of them. She thinks that they look horrible, even though they are perfectly normal. She checks herself in the mirror as often as she can, and rubs her hands with lotion at least five times every hour.
From time to time she gets panic attacks. During those attacks she can't think about anything other than how horrific her hands are, and sometimes she hurts herself, believing that it'll make her hand look better.

History: She was bullied throughout elementary school, which caused her to become very self conscious, especially about her hands which she was taunted for. After she turned 15 she could no longer stand seeing her hands, so she always wore gloves. Her parents admitted her to a psychiatric award after she tried to cut of her left hand with a kitchen knife. She still has a huge scar around her wrist and has lost much of her sense of touch in that hand.

Theme Song: Det Er Ikke Alt Som Må Bli Fortalt by Asle Beck

Up For Love: Yes, straight.

Can I have a spot? Here's my profile:

Name: Lilah Bodelaire

Age: 16

Illness: Bipolar disorder, paranoia, masocistic tendenties, anger issues.

Apperance: She has long brown hair that is usually either neatly combed and parted into neat braids or matted dwn and tangled depending on her mood. She has pale skin and bright green eyes. She is slender and short, about 5'4". She wears neat makeup- including eyeshadow, eyeliner, the whole 9-yards on good days but on bad days she looks like a circus clown. She generally wears long sleeves to cover up her scars and track pants so she can easily get away.

Personality: She is generally a nice person under the paranoia and anger. But people just see that. In her heart she knows she need to get better but her paranoia is not letting that happen- it is what made her run away. She is quick to make judgements ad snap decisions. She hates herself for beig this way and hates the world for making her be in this awful place and makig fun of her throught the years. She lies a lot and will not share her true feelings with anyone- yet. She does not trust anyone and rarely speaks- she just injures people if you get on her bad side. She feels awful when she hurts people but can't tell anyone because she feels that if she shows any weakness they will hurt her like her foster parents did. Instead she hurts herself to try to amend the pain she causes others.

History: Lilah grew up in a foster home where she started to resent her parents at a young age for leaving her in the abusive foster parents' clutches. Soon she also started hating herself, thiking something must be wrong with her because her parents left her and her foster parents wanted to hurt her.Her sister (who was also at the foster home) commited suicide when the sister was thirteen, when Lilah was fifteen. She was forced to go to the insane asylum after she almost stangled her foster fatherto death after her sister's suicide. It has hunted Lilah ever since. Now she has more bad days then good. Her problems just got worse after that. She started cutting when she was fourteen. She started her paranoia at nearly the same time, resulting from her cutting because she was afraid that her forster parents would find out and were going to take her away from her sister and beat her. She had always seemed bipolar, being all smiles one day and being depressed the next. Her foster parents did not care about her problems until they almost fell victim to them.
Theme Song: Cassie by Flyleaf- reminds her of her sister, who, ironically, was named Cassie.

Up For Love (Yes Or No and Preference): Yes, straight. Going to have to work up to it though.

Other: She loves to listen to music (especially Muse because a lot of their music is about paranoia). She hardly ever listens to music though, at least not loudly because she is afraid someone will sneak up on her and she won't hear until its too late. She wants to be a writer but she is afraid she will be tracked down even if she uses a pen name.

Isn't recycling fun? Here he is, back from the grave. :)

Name: Skizzy

Age: 19

Illness: Schizophrenia- He hears voices and oftens see things that are not there.

Apperance:
Spoiler
Image
The tattoo on his neck is of his ID number. There is always dried blood under his fingertips and scars on his body, some of them he does not even remember putting there, but they are from him scratching up his body when the voices get to loud.

Personality: He is always talking, no matter if you know it or not. It's either inside his head or outloud, either way, he's always talking or listening. One of the two. The voices never leave him alone and he can ignore them sometimes, most of the time, but there are other times when he forgets and answers them and if he answers they never shut up. Aside from that, Skiz likes to be around other people, he hates to be alone, is even afraid of it. Some may call his fear of being alone a phobia. Somedays, when the voices and visons get out of control, he may snap and go into a rage, clawing at his head to get them out. This happens seldom in the daytime, because he has actual people to talk to him and the voices are sort of pushed to the back of his mind, but at night it gets really bad because they are the only thing he hears.
There will be times where he goes crazy and hurts himself and others around him, but if that happens a good knock against the head should calm him down.

History: He's been in the asylum for as long as he can remember. He was six when they first took him away, his parents gave him up without a fight because they knew he was crazy then, they were afraid of him. He had a little sister named Carrie that his mother had just had. She was newborn, small and pink, laughing. His mother let him hold her, they had no prior knowledge of his condition. Now, before hand, Skizzy, real name Alexander, has always been spoiled with everything he wanted. Clothes, toys, friends, love, everything. Everyone loved him and he loved that. When his mother announced she was pregnant, Skiz became worried.
He didn't want to share the fame, the glory, or the love. He wanted to be the only one. The spotlight was only big enough for one child. That's when the voices started. She's going to take away everything from you, they teased. It was always on Skiz's mind. He was going to be replaced. He slowly went crazy, but he didn't know he was going crazy. He didn't understand. That day, when he was forced to hold the demon child, he just snapped. The disease took over his mind and he threw the baby to the ground, kicking the thing relentlessly with all his might. The voices ate up the rest of his sanity and he destroyed the thing that was going to take away the attention. His parents called the police first and the police called the hospital. The doctors took him away from the police office and to the hospital. He's been there ever since.
The voices still taunt him about killing his sister when they get out of control.

Up For Love: Yes, no preferences.

Other: He brought a journal and a pencil with him from the hospital. He likes music, it's what the doctors would use to calm him down from one of his fits and he would often hum to himself or whistle when bored. He also hates his real name, Alexander, and him hearing his name will immediately send him into a fit, it never fails.
A pale imitator of a girl in the sky.

Name: Tyler Carsey

Age: 18

Illness: Compulsive liar, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), insomnia, kleptomania, depression, addiction disorder (cigarettes), anger management issues.

Apperance: Tyler stands at 6 feet exactly, with extremely pale skin. His eyes are a brilliant green with a ring of golden brown around his pupil that fades out through the rest of his eyes. Tyler has hair a little less than shoulder length, and curls ever so slightly. Tyler's hair is a fading green, and his black hair has long since come through. He has thick, long black eyelashes surrounding his eyes, guages, and his septum is pierced. Tyler has a colorless, black outline of a dragon wrapping around his left forearm, starting at his wrist and ending where his forearm and bicep join.
Spoiler
Image

Personality: Tyler is tough to crack. He's a liar, a thief, anxious, depressed, and angry. But if it's just you and him....he's completely fine. His emotions are out of wack, and he has trouble keeping control of them: including sadness, anger, and love. Tyler has a bit of a "don't care" attitude and takes what comes to him. Thing is....he's protective. Of everyone. Except himself.

History: Tyler was born to Stacey and Michael Carsey, a high class, well-off couple who pictured the perfect family when they got married. Soon after marriage, Stacey and Michael had Tyler, his two younger brothers John and David (twins at 16), and his sister Sandra (14). His entire life Tyler was pressured by his father, yelled at, hit, and his whole life was planned out. At thirteen, Tyler's illnesses began to start up. Stacey and Michael tried to keep it a secret, and get him private help, but finally they couldn't take it, and admitted him to the mental hospital when he was fourteen. He only sees his parents at Christmas time, and his siblings are rarely able to come (their parents don't want anyone to see them going into the mental hospital).

Theme Song:

Up For Love: Yes, straight

Other: Rarely seen without a cigarette, and if he doesn't have one he goes mad. Even if he's not smoking it, he has to have it in his hands. And the secret behind the dragon tattoo? It hides all the scars he has from cutting. Because of his anxiety, Tyler can't sit still - he paces, he taps his foot, he drums his hands, etc etc.

Name: Blake Shae by birth, but most everyone calls him Blue.

Age: 18

Illness: Synaesthesia
Spoiler
(in his case he sees colored shapes coming from sounds -- for example, tapping against a counter has purple rings coming from it, a telephone is yellow zing-zags, etc etc) (Also, food tastes like color. Ex: broccoli tastes like blue.)
Penduncular Hallucinosis
Spoiler
These hallucinations usually occur in the evenings, but not during drowsiness, as in the case of hypnagogic hallucination. The subject is usually fully conscious and then can interact with the hallucinatory characters for extended periods of time. As in the case of hypnagogic hallucinations, insight into the nature of the images remains intact. The false images can occur in any part of the visual field, and are rarely polymodal
Blue also has anxiety, depression, self loathing, and a strange version of body dysmorphia (he hates himself, so he thinks that he should be covered with tattoos. )

Apperance: Blue stands at five feet seven inches with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He is muscular and strong, and looks completely normal.
http://weheartit.com/entry/42053037/via/ludawilner
He has this tattooed on his hands:
http://weheartit.com/entry/15581582
Blue also has a quarter sleeve on his right arm -- it's something from one of his hallucinations:
Spoiler
Image

Personality: Blue is an artist. He draws on everything and everyone. His hallucinations usually control how/what he draws, and rarely ever does he just come up with it out of nowhere. Everything he draws, he's seen before or is seeing currently in his hallucinations. Some of it is so scary it's unimaginable, others are purely happy. Blue is what you could consider a tortured artist, a slave to his hallucinations and no control over colors in his world. But he loves it. Blue is a very bold person, and very kind. However, as mentioned previously he is tortured, though he tries to fight it. He wishes nothing more than to be normal, to walk around and be considered mentally fit. But he has an identity issue. He has no clue who he would be without his illnesses....so he's never really tried to get better - he's afraid that he'll hate himself without his illnesses more than he hates himself with them. Also, he had a tendancy to talk your ear off. He can take a cue of when he needs to leave, but if you don't drop hints or say anything he'll be filling the empty space.

History: Blue has crazy in his family. He was born to a woman who spent most of her life in this very hospital, and his father committed suicide due to sever depression and command hallucinations before he even knew about Blue. Blue's mother raised him for three years, until one day she didn't come to get him from the babysitter. Just....vanished. At a young age, Blue knew he was different, that no one else could see the colors coming from the telephone or taste grey when eating bread. Foster parents dismissed it, and he kept being handed over as another person's problem. By the age of nine, after physical abuse, verbal abuse, sexual abuse, neglegence, and more, Blue got the penduncular hallucinations, and it was yet again brushed off. It wasn't until Blue was nearly eleven that he was finally given medical attention. After diagnosed, the foster care system had to look at their options: keep him in the system, moving from family to family without any help, or put him in the hospital. Obviously, they chose the hospital.

Up For Love: Yes, and he doesn't care as long as he can connect with you.

Other: When Blue hallucinates....he draws. He's in a completely different universe, but he draws everything. He'll be standing there, completely normal one moment, and in the next he will be talking to someone only he can see and drawing EVERYTHING he "sees". Blue keeps a brown, leather drawing book closed by a piece of wearing out string -- he is never without it, and he rolls it up and keeps it in his back pocket. He has dozens of them, and he is absolutely uncapable of parting with them.
Tapping drives him mad. The jolts of color repeatedly jumping at him drive him crazy.

The chains of habits are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.
