Minecraft

Any of you YWSers out their Minecrafters too? If so, feel free to share MC usernames and fav servers as well as ranting on about what you love / hate about the game as well as other MC awesomeness.

I used to play a ton. I should check it out again since it sounds like there have been some cool updates. I ran a couple of my own small servers, but my friends would always get bored before me and stop playing.

I set up minecraft/ runescape private servers all the time. I can do it but im not gunna run it off my computer :p

I don't know anything about hosting servers, but I have been Moderator/admin/actingOP before. :P

If anyone wants to host the server they need 24/7 internet and have to keep a window open that takes like 0 CPU. It takes like 20 minutes because of downloads and stuff but I'm willing to set it up on anyone's computer if they want to teamview me; just saying.

If you want a semi-professional sever you need to either rent or buy a dedicated server box.

You can keep a server running 95% of the time hosting on your own computer if you have good internet. And you don't need a dedicated server a VPS works just fine if you don't want to host on your own computer. It's not like they are going to make it and a million people join the next day.

Depends on what plugins you want to run, how many slots you want, and whether or not you want to be able to do anything else with the computer. Yes, the average Joe making a server for his friends to play on can run it off his home PC, if you want something more, you're better off getting a dedicated box.
