Morgan Darkrai | Backyard of Darkrai Residence

I smiled and whistled for Nemesis. When she perched on my shoulder, I stroked her scales. "Cause me a little friendly snow for me, my aquatic drake?"
Nemesis purred cat-like as she rubbed her head against my cheek. As good as done, Master. She breathed a gentle breeze, causing the yard to be snowed on.
I cracked my knuckles and used my Water sorcery to gather up the snow and surround the tree, forcing the snow to melt so the water could reach the roots of the tree. "That should do the trick. I'm also a master Water sorceror and healer. My mother was a healer before she married my father. Nobody in the Resistance even bothered asking if I could heal the wounded at night instead of making masks and weapons. Bladesmithing is my job during the daylight."

Gwendolyn E | Morgan's Backyard

At first, I panicked as his dragon made it snow. Cold's no good for trees. Then Mr. Darkrai melted it, and I saw why he would do that. "Sir, no offense, but why didn'tcha do that before I hoed up the lawn? Woulda made it a hellofa lot easier fer me. And I know whatcha mean about the Resistance. I can heal minor cuts and scrapes, relieve some pain, but no-oh. I have ta make 'em some apples. I don't even think he's ever given me another objective. What worries me most though," she says, as she climbs into the tree to continue working, "Is how he takes care of himself. The man barely eats breakfast, his desk is always a mess, he looks like a wreck, and he never sleeps. And then he gets confused when I get mad at him," she sighs, "I suppose that's ta be expected though. t's in my nature to care."

She works on freeing up the branches of the ripe apples for a bit. Then she preens some of the limbs preventing it from growing. Then she puts more magic in it, for luck and health. And then she hops down. "You should be good for the next few days er so. If ya want, I can come back, but I won't be doin' much 'cept brewin' and bakin'. Yer tree is much more excepting, loyal, and helpful than any a mine, stubborn ingrates," she kicks the ground. "Anyways, I can bake or leave, if ya want."

I lay there next to Theo my entire body pulsing with pain as I try to regain knowledge of what had just happened when I fell and how badly was I wounded and broken, so far one arm, several ribs on both sides, maybe a bruise or crack on the back of my skull, but I'll end up summing it all up to dead if I don't get me and Theo out of this hell hole. I push myself up onto one knee then send myself up quickly but regret it only a little as I scream like bloody murder, I stifle it then reach down with my good arm and pull Theo up though I'm screaming for mercy on the inside I don't let it out then I wrap his arm around my shoulder and start to back out of there or at least get him closer to the exit then take the blow to me instead of him then when or if I ever wake again I'll have a head start on Theo getting closer to the exit than me, I didn't care though it was my fault he was here though he wouldn't have been as badly hurt if I weren't here if he was captured. The queen takes notice in what I'm doing but ignores it letting us go only when I'm nearly out the door does she slam me one more time against a wall crushing me dangerously then throws me out the door beside the still unconscious Theo. I gasp for breath then reach him lifting him to his feet again and dragging him slowly to someone I knew who worked at the resistance, I took him to Morgan Darkrai. I bang hard on the door with whatever strength I had then collapse to the floor as someone answers the door, Theo falling next to me as well and I don't awake for awhile and blood starts to pool from underneath me as skin breaks from my broken bones stabbing me .

I looked at Nemesis. She seemed frantic for some reason. "What's the matter with you, Nemesis? You look like you're about to lose your scales."
Nemesis didn't hesitate to answer. Two injured Rebels are at your door, Master. They don't look so good.
I ran to the door and pulled in the injured ones. I set them in the living room on the floor, carefully looking at their wounds. They looked like torture wounds, worse than what I've seen as Mercury's damage. "Damn, whoever did this must've been either having fun or needed information. Good gods, this isn't a good thing at all." I whistled for Nemesis and ordered her to make water inside a bucket. Once that was done, I placed some healing herbs in the water and mixed them up together. After a while, I used Water sorcery to put the herbal water on the wounds, watching them seal and close up. There was no wound I couldn't heal. Mother had trained me well. Once the wounds were closed completely and erased from the body as a whole, I put the Rebels on my couch to let them rest.
While I waited for them to recover, I poured some hot berry stew in two bowls for them to eat. My hired hand was at the door to the backyard. "Does Mercury know ya can do that, Mr. Darkrai?"
I shook my head. "Everyone else in the Resistance think I'm just a Metal sorceror whose family trade is bladesmithing. I take from both my parents. My father was a Metal sorceror who carried on the family trade and my mother was a Water sorceress who specialized in healing. Because I take after both sides of the family, I was trained by both my parents in healing and bladesmithing. Not a usual combination, but it's my life in nutshell."
Look down and show some mercy if you can.

I bolt up right looking around franticly a small dagger drawn and ready if anyone charged me. I take things in more slowly as a man's voice tells me to calm down and that I was safe now. I look down beside me and see Theo sturing awake as well, then I finally look at the man talking and put back my dagger inside my coat. "Sorry I didn't think we made it away from her and that she was still havin fun on me"I nod to him then stand and survay the house very closely."Sorry if it seems that I'm being a bit snoopy but I'm just making sure can't be too believing about something like this Master" I sigh then take a seat back across from Theo on the couch rubbing at my soar sides and throbbing headache.
"What happened to you and who's Her?", he finally asks me and I just tell him everything feeling that I could pry trusts him since he pretty much saved our lives."So to sum it all up we're pretty much in a world of trouble by a creepy new queen who killed her dad to gain that position and I'm not sure I can't take anymore of near death till I'm actually dead situations."

Theo

~Theo leaned back in the seat. He felt like he’d been tied to a horse and dragged through the streets. If only he’d been a little faster, or waited a moment longer, he wouldn’t be in this mess.

Theo still couldn’t believe that the princess had overthrown her father and become ruler. (Not that he was a fan of the previous king.) No. He could believe it. He knew that she had killed him because that’s just how things were. Anything anyone did was for power. Power or money. He grimaced.

Lilith shifted around a bit across from him, a look of discomfort across her face. Theo noticed for a moment, but then returned to his thoughts.

What I really can’t believe is that I was caught by the guards and shot with lightning by the new empress. It was all because they had brought to the Resistance. He chuckled. I shouldn’t have come to the city at all. I should have stayed at that inn in Ridgefeather and waited for news of different work.

A little girl walked into the room up to the man who owned the house. He picked her up and continued talking to the woman. Theo didn’t even notice.
But no, now I’m stuck in this situation. I’ll probably never have peace again. That really pissed Theo off.

A tiny click sounded in the air.

Theo’s head snapped up. It sounded like. . . He reached into his pocket and pulled out his dampener. Red. Leo’s eyes widened. The lightning shock must have drained the dampener. No,. . . no, no, no!

“Leo, what’s wrong?” Lilith looked down at the device in his hands “What’s that? Is it making that noise? Lemme see it.”

She reached across to grab it. Theo noticeably jerked back, avoiding her touch.
The clicking got a louder; loud enough for the other people in the room to stop conversation and turn in his direction.

“I said give it to me!” Lilith lunged at him, but Theo dodged, ending up in the corner of the room while Lilith crashed into the couch.

Theo looked around the room, his pulse beating hard in his temple. This alien feeling was familiar to him. It’s the feeling he had after his sister had died. This crushing emptiness that came up time to time, when he was upset or angry. He was entering another Abnormal episode.

He couldn’t stop it now, it was too late. He had to get out of there. He could tell the people around the room were being affected except for the man. They looked a little weak.

“What’s wrong?” The man, Darkrai? said.

“Don’t go near me, just don’t. . .” A sudden flash of pain bent him over slightly.
I don’t want ot hurt anybody. Not again, never again . . .

“What the hell is your problem?!” Lilith shouted. She lunged at him. But when she came within a few feet she collapsed on the floor on her hands and knees, struggling to breathe. The woman made a move to go to her.

“I said don’t go near me!” Theo backed up more until he hit a wall.

Darkrai seemed to realize what was going on, “Are you an abnormal?”

Theo looked at him, “What the hell do you think!?” It hurt. It always hurt when he was entering an episode

“Stay calm. You’re safe here. No one’s going to hurt you. I help abnormals, you are welcome here”

Theo laughed at his words. It was a harsh sound. “You just won’t leave me alone, no one leaves me alone. I want to be alone!”

“Theo, just breathe. Just-”

“Shut up!” The pain diminished his rational thinking. All that was left was pain. “I want to be alone! Alone, alone, alone. Just my sister and me.”
Amaya, help me . . .~

I gasp for breath feeling death creep up on me it shadows over me as my breathing slows even more and I start to slip closer to the black figure over me, I fight to stay but I feel it pulling me closer to it then I turn ice cold as its hand strokes my face I stop then I notice Theo run into another room and Morgan chases him then the woman comes close to me and starts trying to bring me back, I watch the cloaked figure retreat into the shadows and I'm suddenly gasping for air as I regain life then I curl up some my skin still cold from death's touch. I rise to my feet and go find where Theo and Morgan ran off to, once found I keep a safe distance from Theo so I won't get another greeting from death, which has left me in a stage of shock as I step just a little closer and closer to Theo till I'm very weak and it's hard to be near him. "Calm down...and give him...the trinket",I gasp holding my hand out to Theo to give me the trinket.

It didn't take a genius to know the boy was an Abnormal. I've adopted more than enough to know which was which. The boy was having some kind of episode too harsh for me to describe, but it didn't have an effect on me. There was several elements that could be taken by the effects of an Abnormal, but the ones I was born with weren't those elements. I was completely immune from the effects of the Abnormals, thank the gods. I whistled for Nemesis after the boy passed out. I had to talk with her by the use of my mind. Keep the boy cool while I make a batch of fresh stew. I know an Abnormal when I see one as well as you do.
Nemesis nodded. As you wish, Master. She perched next to the boy and began breathing gentle breezes on him.
It took me a while to make fresh berry stew, but it was worth the time. I put the steaming bowls on the living room table. "You can have some. It's nothing harmful. Just freshly picked berries that my children had the other day."

I stand outside in the cold night air my face bone white against the moonlight as it shines on the streets, I was still in shock from what Theo had done to me and the experience I had it still left me cold thinking about it, I had to get it out of my head but how do you get dieing then coming back to life out of your head. I stood there a long time then I finally go inside tired and bone cold yet unwilling to fall asleep yet just not yet. I brush past some helper who was asking Morgan what she could do while I gazed on out there at the moment then I sit in a chair at the nice worn table and rest my forehead on my arms on the table not looking up or caring that I look weak and pathetic doing this the woman come and hovers over me unsure of whether to comfort me or leave me be to try and recover what happened even though no one really knows what happened to me.

Theo

~"Mr. Darkrai, Sir, would ya like me ta do anything?"

Theo woke up to an unfamiliar voice. He sat up, confused. Then he remembered.

He leaned forward, his head in his hands. What had I done? Did I killed anyone? It's happened before. Too many times. Too many.

He looked around the room. Darkrai was talking to what Theo guessed was his maid or something. He dared a glance at Lilith. She was sitting at the table, seemingly unaware of the world around her.

"I'm sorry." he whispered in her direction without looking at her. He got no reply.

He may have blanked out, but he remembered right before he went over the edge she had lunged at him. A mistake many had made before and hadn't lived long to regret it. Some part of Theo's mind admired the fact that she had survived an encounter with him.

His mind wandered to Darkrai. Why didn't he kill him (or more accurate, was killed trying), let alone letting him stay in his house? He must have some experience with Abnormals. He might even be one of the ones immune to Abnormal effects. He's heard of those kind of people. His sister was the only one he had known.

The only one who'd ever been able to calm him down as Amaya. She'd wrap her arms around him and rock him to sleep. Even when he was older. He winced. The thought of her was painful at times like this.

Atleast he didn't have to worry about another episode. After one, he'd be drained of abnormal effects for a day or so. Numbly, he thought of fixing his dampener but pushed away the thought for now. He lay back down, trying his best to look invisible.

Curling into a ball, he lay still and imagine his sister was rocking him to sleep.~

Gwendolyn E | Morgan's Backdoor

"Mr. Darkrai, Sir, would ya like me ta do anything?" I asked, leaning against the door way, "I can't heal that well, but I can still bake. 'Sides, standing here is makin' me feel awkward," I say, looking around. I felt like I should be doing something, but it was just one of those times when you don't know what to do. Someone tell me 'fore I start runnin' 'round a bakin and a healin 'till someone take m' magic, I thought, I hate it when people get h'rt like this. Makes me worry, an' makes me want ta take their pain. Some people say it's my element. I say that if I had flame as an element, I would burn when I felt compassionate, or when I felt like I do right now. I fidgeted in the doorway.

I stand outside realizing what I had just done and nearly did to myself and Theo since his powers were somehow turned if at the moment. I paced around for a moment outside then go around the house easily slipping into Theo's room, I hover over him wondering how long had I put him out for and that Morgan forgives me for attacking him, I was just so overcome with rage I didn't know what I was doing till it was done. I take a seat next to Theo's bed resting my head in my hands as I sit there trying to push away the horrible headache I had right then. I turn to the window thinking about leaveing him to rest and not get hurt by me any more but a movement from Theo caught my attention though I pretend I didn't seem him yet and wait till he speaks first.

Kirby

Kirby stayed frozen for a few seconds, arms up to protect his face, but the shock never came. He peeked out from behind his shield to find the resistance leader standing, arms folded, not looking very amused.

"Um," Kirby stammered. "Ah...ahem. Um..."

"You're joining the resistance?" the leader said, echoing Erina's words.

"Um...yes," Kirby answered. "I...ah..."

"Kirby, be quiet," Erina muttered. "Mercury, I--"

But the leader, Mercury, waved her off. "No, let him finish," he said. "This is interesting."

"Um..." Kirby began, trying his hardest not to botch anything in front of the resistance leader. "Um...basically, Erina just asked me to join..." Mercury raised an eyebrow.

"You wanted a long story, didn't you...okay," Kirby muttered. "Well...I've known Erina...for a while...a while being about twelve years...and we ended up meeting after she shot those generals...and...ah...there's a bunch of other stuff after that..." Mercury raised his other eyebrow.

"And then she asked me to join so here I am," Kirby finished, rushing through the end of his speech.

Erina

Erina smiled nervously as Kirby continued to stutter through his explanation. Erina prayed that this would go well but so far things haven't exactly been on the up-and-up. Once Kirby finished his story, Erina decided it was time to chime in. "Believe me Mercury, you can trust him. I wouldn't bring him here if he wasn't."

Mercury raised an eyebrow, "Oh really Erina, are you sure?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"Erina, did you consider that your personal feelings may be getting in the way of your judgment."

Erina went red, "I did not let personal feelings effect my judgment! He can be trusted and I mean, we already have a spy in the resistance and the king is already planning an attack! What can he tell his father that the King doesn't already know?!"

Mercury paused and was about to offer a response when a messenger ran into the room, "Urgent news, the king has been killed and the princess has been named queen."

Erina and Kirby's jaws hit the floor and Mercury turned to the prince, "Alright, your in. Now what can you tell us about the royal family?"

Mercury / Amused

I waited a while for the Prince to get through his explanation. He seemed nervous and shy around the subject, obviously the king had filled his head with horrible information about me. Which was good...

The look on Erina's face reminded me of something I could vaguely remember in the back of mind.

I heard the prince say something about knowing Erina for twelve years.

HAHA! It's love! She loves him! Aw, that's so shweet. My Erina is in love

"Erina, did you consider that your personal feelings may be getting in the way of your judgment." I say, she goes red.

She's finished as soon as a messenger comes in spouting something.

"Urgent news, the king has been killed and the princess has been named queen."

Oh Mother of God...

I turn to the prince, "Alright, your in. Now what can you tell us about the royal family?"

I can just barely see Erina's face light up behind the astonishment.

That's so cute that she's in love
