Deliah

I woke up a bit delirious to find father in the kitchen making breakfast. The kitchen was filled with the scent of berry stew. I was too tired and disoriented to say anything, so just sat down at the table. Just as I did there was a knock at the door. I sat quietly as the girl and father went to the back yard. She was a sorceress. Earth by the look of it. My brothers and sisters and I would have to be careful around her.

I decided father would be awhile and went to tend to the stew.

I looked out the window, expecting to see a sunny day. It was snowing. I stared curiously, unsure what was going on. I blinked and it had stopped.

I wondered if I might be falling ill. My confused state becan to subside when father ran to the door. Two wounded people fall into our house. I stopped everything and stared. Today was just getting curiouser and curiouser.

Father healed their wounds and I began to return to the kitchen. I had a sense that one may be an abnormal. I continued to tend the stew, wondering what might be going on. Father rushed into the kitchen and brought 2 bowls of stew to the living room. I went to make sure the other Abnormals were getting up and ready for the day.

I decided to ask father what was going on. I walked to the back door where he appeared to be talking to the earth sorceress. I stood back and waited.

I hung around for quite a while, not wanting Mercury to think I was hiding from him, but not wanting to face him either. Then I saw Kirby standing in Mercury's office. I grinned. I knew Mercury could handle Kirby fine, so the Resistance wasn't in any danger, but that would keep Mercury busy for a while. Maybe he wouldn't find out about the soldiers at all.

Some chance of that...

I wandered around outside for a while and then, realizing that my wanderings were what had led me to the guards in the first place, decided to find a place to sit for a while. In the shadows of the Hideout, I bumped into the boy that was with the Metal Master, Alem, wasn't it?

"Watch where you're going," he growled.

My eyes narrowed. "Why don't you watch where you're going."

I knew he was short tempered, but so was I, and at that moment I was more than ready for a challenge. Alem, the infamous fighter...

We glared at each other for a moment, at least, I assumed he was glaring back at me, it was hard to tell for his cloak.

He seemed tall and imposing in this light, after the day I had had, but I wasn't one to back down.

"...You're that fire sorcoress from the Hideout."

"What's it to ya?"

"Why don't you watch you're lip? I'm far bigger than you are."

"Size doesn't matter; it's skill you need to watch for."

There was another strained silence between us.

Spoiler
Okay Tenshou, so I don't care where this goes. We can fight or just argue...and it's up to you whether we make friends afterwards, or hate each other. :)

Morgan Darkrai | His cottage

I looked at Deliah, then my hired hand. I had to push her outside to the backyard of my cottage. She looked at me like she was about to flare at me. "Your element is Earth, one of the few elements that an Abnormal can steal with just a touch. Elements like mine can't be stolen. It's something I know from experience. My father was a Metal sorceror and a master bladesmith whose brother was an Abnormal. My Abnormal uncle's name was Marcus Darkrai, a poison master by own trade."
My hired hand calmed down greatly.
I went back in the house and looked at Deliah. "Is there something you need to tell me, dear heart? You know you can tell me. Honest to the gods." I held her in my arms and kissed her forehead. "You know you can tell me."
Look down and show some mercy if you can.
Look down, look down, upon your fellow man.

"Well, you coulda at least told me ta' bake the darn pie," she grumbled, leaning against a house. Oh, boohoo, my power get stolen. I don't need 'em to tend trees anyhow, they don't listen. except this tree here, an' even then, this tree would be good to keep growin' fer at least anouther year 'er two. With all the money he's a payin' me already, I could pro'lly retire, if I di'n't love my job so much. Ugg, you just ahate waitin' and you know it, Gwendolyn. 'Sides, not like you can't bake out here. Just need a fire, and a stove... She gets all her cooking suplies together, and heads into the forgery, using the fire in there, plus the water at the stream nearby to start baking. See, yer useful. Now then, focus.

Father pushed the girl outside. He says something that I can't hear, then returns.
"Is there something you need to tell me, dear heart? You know you can tell me. Honest to the gods."
He kissed my forehead.
"You know you can tell me."
I pushed away and stepped back. My head was spinning. There were a bunch of people in our house who I didn't know. I woke up with no idea what was going on. Father had been going out to work at odd hours...
"What is going on?" I blurted out, begining to nervously.
"What do you mean?" was the reply.
"Wha...I...how..." I studdered, "I mean there are people in our house, you were out rediculously late last night. You're the only person I can think who could tell me what on earth is going on here!"
I contunued to pace frantically.

Anaki Shadowflame

"Whatever," Alem sneered.

I scoffed at him. "Yeah."

I shrugged and walked off, aware that his eyes were following me.

I wandered around for quite a while, before finally making my way back into the hideout. Mercury was sitting in his office, looking tired.

I took a deep breath and walked in.

He looked up at me. "Ah, hello Anaki."

"Hey Mercury," I said, trying to smile, though I was nervous.

"Can I help you?"

"Um no. I was, erm, was walking by, and saw you here..."

"Why, yes, this is my office. I'm often here," he says smirking.

I shrank back. "Erm, yes, well...you look...troubled...or tired...or...can I help you somehow?"

He smiled and stood. "That's very kind of you."

"Um, thank you?"

"I think I might be impressed, if you weren't just brown nosing."

I gasped, trying to seem shocked. "Wh-why I...I don't know...what...you're...talking about."

"You mean you don't know how I found out."

I took a deep breath, as he moved his face close to mine. "Isn't that right, Anaki?"

"I...I...Yes sir."

"You've got guts, coming in here," he noted.

I swallowed. "I...that wasn't my fault."

"You mean somebody else just killed those soldiers?"

"I mean...that..."

"Or do you mean that you didn't think I'd find out about it."

"...I didn't..." I admitted.

"That's rather foolish...you should know that I find out about everything, sooner or later- usually sooner." He smirked.

"Yes sir," I squeaked.

Spoiler
Alright, so people, take off with this. I don't care if Mercury is teasing her, or if he's actually annoyed- or if somebody else wants to charge in, that's fine.

Mercury

The news had reached me through a private source, a trusted associate on the inside I suppose you could say. But that wasn't of the matter, the fact was that Anaki didn't come to me as soon as it happened and it got under my skin slightly.

"You've got guts, coming in here," I note.

She swallows. "I...that wasn't my fault."

"You mean somebody else just killed those soldiers?"

"I mean...that..."

"Or do you mean that you didn't think I'd find out about it."

"...I didn't..." she admits.

"That's rather foolish...you should know that I find out about everything, sooner or later- usually sooner." I smirk.

"Yes sir," she squeaks.

I laugh gently, turning around to my desk and picking up my metal bird (which I had just managed to repair) and showing it to Anaki.

"This is my little bird Anaki, and it tells me what I need to know when I need to know it without discretion." I flick an ounce of life into the placid clockwork creature, making it shiver and squawk.

"Not because it fears me, but because I am his leader. And he knows, and respects, my right to knowledge - as I respect his right to the same." The bird flickers and twitches, slowly returning to it's torpid state.

"And if either of us refuse to uphold this right, the result can be-" the bird comes to a full stop and lays dormant in my hand.

"...unpleasant" I stress every syllable.

"Am I understood?" I finish, she simply nods. I smile, and return the bird to my desk.

"Now don't get me wrong, I am pleased that not only did you take initiative - but you strangled it and then rendered it incapacitated. Though it may not have been the best course of action, it was necessary. Especially with the princess taking the throne..." I say. Getting close to her.

"The war is beginning Anaki, pray to whichever God you please that we'll be alive to see the end of it." I kiss her on the cheek, her jaw drops.

I walk out the door, on my way to find Erina and the Prince...

Gwendolyn E | Darkria Residence

By the time she had finished, she had 2 pies. One was for her boss's family, the other where for the two sick people who could 'steal her powers'. Ifn I was afraid someone was gunna steal my powers, I would be dressed head-ta-toe in in cloth. With a mask. I don't CARE weather er not I don't have my powers; I wanna help people! Stubborn old metalworker. She set her pies down on a windowsil and sat in the tree.

Once in the apple tree, her nerves began to settle down. The tree shifted and sighed to her, and eventually she started singing a tune from her town. She let a little energy into the tree, and it gave her an impression of happiness. Such is the way of plantlife, she thought smiling. Then she frowned, 'cept MY plantlife. Rebliouss suckers; I bet they already grew themselves new trimmings, just to spite me. I bet the one in the middle invited worms too. Why can't they be like you? she silently asked the tree.

Because they are young, it grumbled, They will slow down at some point. Give them a few years. She sighed.

Garnet?! Garnet was queen?! What the hell was going on?!

The messenger ran out, but I followed him outside, Erina in tow, and grabbed his arm. "Wait a second," I said. "Garnet's the queen?! How did that happen?!"

The messenger just shrugged. "I don't know," he answered. He sprinted off down the road.

"Erina, there you are!" Mercury had followed us outside. "And what's-his-face. I need you to tell me everything you can about your sister."

"Well, it's really strange," I began. "Strange that she became queen, I mean. Traditionally, the oldest child takes the throne, and that would be me."
