Jace

She wraps her arms around me and I open my eyes, finding hers still shut. I flash a smile and kiss her forehead, not wanting to wake her if she's not already up.

I study her before letting go of her hand and jumping through, landing in the middle of the meadow I'd set up.

Rayah

He kisses my forehead and I open my eyes, flashing a smile, "Hey."

Jackie

Okay...just jump. Don't think about it.

I close my eyes and jump, landing where Nic did, and keep them shut, "I'm here," I chuckle.

Jace

I flash a smile at her and kiss her cheek, "Hey."

I hesitate before adding onto that.

"Can I ask you a question?"

Nic

She lands beside me and I smile, taking both her hands, "I can see that. Now, just follow me, alright? Trust me."

Rayah

I study him before nodding, "Sure."

Jackie

I nod as he guides me wherever he's taking me, confused.

Jace

I bring a hand up to the side of her face, "What were you dreaming about?"

I lead her beneath the tree and sit her on the blanket, making sure everything's all set, "Alright, um..."

I turn on the little lantern and illuminate the midnight picnic, opening the basket and setting out the first course of our later dinner.

"Um, open your eyes," I tell her, flashing a smile.

Rayah

I sigh, "The past," I tell him. "Why?"

Jackie

I open my eyes to see a picnic, the night sky shining bright with stars. I flash a smile at Nic, "Wow. This is so beautiful."

Jace

I study her, "'Cause you were talking in your sleep. What happened? You sounded scared."

I flash a smile back at her, "Glad you like it. Hungry?"

Rayah

"Memories, Jace. It's nothing," I assure him, yawning.

Jackie

I nod and smile, "Very. What's on the menu tonight?"

Jace

I study her before sitting up and sighing, looking out at the ocean and biting my tongue to stop myself from acting like a hypocrite.

I haven't told her about my last night home... I can't expect her to be completely honest with me about her past.

I smile and uncover the cupcake looking things, "The appetizer. They're called White Trash Puffs. It's basically crescent rolls with cream cheese and pepperoni inside. Tastes amazing."

Rayah

I watch him, "I'll tell you if you want me to," I cross my arms, "I just don't think my past is important."

Jackie

I nod, "Looks amazing," I take one and try it, "Wow." I laughed, "These are good."

Jace

I glance back at her, sighing, and scoot closer, "Your past is a part of you, and you're important to me. So that makes your past important as well, at least from my view. I want to know everything about you, and I want you to know everything about me."

I smile and eat one too, nodding, "Glad you like it. Um, I have wine or scotch, have a feeling you want the scotch though."

Rayah

I nod, leaning against him, "I've never told anyone this and no one knows beside me and my family. You have to promise not to talk about it," I tell him.

Jackie

I shrug, "Depends. Whatever will go good with the main course," I take another.

Jace

I wrap an arm around her and kiss the top of her head, "We're getting married. Your secrets are my secrets."

I smile and nod, bringing out the main course, "Hope you like Italian food."

Rayah

I nod, "When I was ten I started training. You enter the war when you turn thirteen, here. I'm techincally nineteen in Olympian years. You were forced to fight. No matter if you were hurt, sick, anything. When I was in my second year of the war, my parents pushed me too far. I was fourteen. Practically killed me. I kept on telling them I couldn't fight anymore, that I had nothing more in me. They still didn't listen. As a child, I got pushed too much, and went beyond my comfort zone," I finally tell him.

I nod, clapping, "Yay! Wine then," I smile, "Red or white?"

Jace

I listen and nod, holding her close as she does tell me, "That's not right. But... you are the strong person I know today because of it, right?"

I smile and chuckle at her, bringing out the bottle of wine, "White. It goes better, I find, with the food."
