I nod and glance back at Rayah one last time before walking out with Nic, sad I couldn't have been there to help sooner.

Rayah

This hurts...

I hear everything around me, but somehow don't have the strength to open my eyes. People leave and I feel the needles in my arms, and the dried blood all over my face. I need to take a shower so much right now.

Nic

I lead Jackie to a family bathroom and lock the door behind us, wetting a towel to clean her up, "You okay?"

I don't know what to do, where to touch her without hurting her, what to say... I just sit at her side and look down, not wanting to see her like this.

Jackie

I nod, flashing a smile, "Yeah, I'm fine," I assure him, looking down.

Rayah

I can't speak either, no words being able to come out of my throat, and dare to move. I move a shaky hand atop his and even my breathing.

Nic

I flash a smile back and kiss the top of her head, using the cloth to wipe the blood from her hands and arms.

She moves her hand atop mine and I flash a smile, taking a deep breath and setting my free hand atop hers.

Jackie

I glance up at him, still smiling, and watch him clean me off, "I need to change a shirt when we get home."

I force my eyes open and cough once, forcing a smile as well, "Hey," I say, my voice quiet and scratchy.

Nic

I flash a smile and nod, "You want mine? I'll wear my jacket so it's socially acceptable."

I swallow and bring an arm underneath her head, holding her hand with the other, "Shh. Don't talk, Rayah. Not out loud."

Jackie

I nod, "Yeah. Thanks," I smile, "I owe you."

I look at him, confused, before my eyes close on me again.

Nic

I flash a smile and kiss her forehead, finishing cleaning her off. I take my jacket off, then my shirt, and hand her the latter, slipping my jacket back on, "Nah, we're even."

I brush her hair back from her forehead and sigh, hating this so much.

Just save your strength for me, Ray. Things aren't so good.

Jackie

I take his shirt and smile, "Look away."

I smile and sigh, turning around and crossing my arms, "S'not like I haven't seen you before..."

I swallow and am about to answer when the doctor comes in, checking over everything.

Jackie

I chuckle at him, taking my shirt off and throwing on his, "Fine. Next time you can look."

Someone walks in and I swallow, opening my eyes to see.

Nic

I smile and turn back around, "Promise?"

I wait for the guy to say something as he jots notes down on his clipboard.

I nod, smiling, "Promise."

Rayah

I try to speak but I find I've lost my voice.

"Don't move, Rayah," The doctor orders, Jotting stuff down. My eyes close on me again and I think why this had to happen to me.

Nic

I smile and kiss her quickly, twining my hands with hers, "Let's get back to he room then. If a doctor comes in...Jace isn't going to be able to speak clearly. We'll have to do it for him."

I stay silent, waiting for the news.

Jackie

I nod and lead him to the room, Rayah looking a little bit better, "How is she?" I ask the doctor.

He sighs, "She's not looking so good. Got a concussion. If she were to stay asleep, she would probrably be in a coma," He says, "We need to be careful about that."

So She can't sleep until She feels better? What the f*ck?

"Okay," I say, "Anything else?"

"Fractured her arm," He points to her left, "The car door got it trapped."
