In 1st period I catch Tahila looking at us with her boyfriend and I end up passing out into sleep, the teacher waking me up. She slams my desk with her ruler and I jump, bringing a hand to my forehead.

"Pay attention," She warns.

I nod slowly before taking a deep breath, blinking to wake myself up as I see Tahila looking at us again.

"Fine by me."

I snap my fingers a few times and then put my hands cup around my mouth and call out to him making girly noises and calling his name, I wait a few seconds for him to come back as I know I have his loyalty.

I'm just about to say something to Rayah when Tahira calls me like a dog. Sighing, I kiss the top of Rayah's head and know that if I don't do this...

"I'll be right back," I say, "Why don't you head home after first period? You aren't looking well."

She nods sleepily and I kiss her forehead again, heading off to Tahira and her crew.

Though he doesn't seem to like it very much, the kid shows up and comes towards us, looking at Tahira. He says nothing, his hands in his pockets expectantly. I wait to see what she'll make him do, watching his every move.

Feeling like crap, the bell rings and I barely hear it. I sleepily grab my books and wave goodbye to Jace before making my way out, yawning the whole way home. I get home and my mom turns to me, surprised. "What are you doing home?"

I shrug, "Don't feel good," I moan.

She shoos me off again. "No, You're fine. Go back to school."

I shake my head. "No, No I'm tired," I argue.

She nods and sighs before motioning me upstairs. "Sleep then."

I nod quickly before making my way upstairs and to my room. Falling alseep instantly right when I get to bed.

Tahira

"See Cameron, I told you he would come to me once I called him. Just like a puppy that I've always wanted no less." I said.

They all laugh as I cracked the joke, I wave my hand and dismiss him, he soon bolts off the way he came as I'm sure he was going back to Rayahs side.

"I told you he would come when called." I said.

I tighten my jaw and leave once I get the chance, only to find the bell ringing and Rayah waving goodbye. Not sure if i want to go through the rest of the day alone, especially with Tahira as she is recently, I play hookie and head home. Cowardice, I know, but the voice is back and bothering me. It keeps mentioning I'm being lied to by someone, keeps reminding me of Alyx and Nic. I need to get down to the mortal world, and I need to do it when Dad and the others least expect it.

I laugh with the guys, impressed, and then dismiss them so I can be alone with Tahira on our walk to next class.

"So the torture plan is over and the dignity degrading one is in," I state, nodding with a smirk, "This will be interesting. Very fun to watch."

I wake around an hour later, amazingly exhausted. I get my phone out and text Jace with a huff.

Will you come over once you get out of school?

Just as I'm about to jump into the portal, my phone buzzes. Having a feeling it's from Rayah, I take it out and glance at it. I look into the portal and sigh.

What you were told isn't true. The answers you seek lie below, but not forever.

Stupid voice. I send Rayah a reply.

I'm out...Skipped... I have to do something, but I'll be over right when I'm through. Okay?

Jace texts me back, saying he'll come over when he's done, and I nod, replying.

I might be asleep when you come over. Just wake me up if I am. Bye. Love you.

I flash a smile at her response and quickly make another.

I will. Get some rest. I'll be there soon. Love you.

Once it's sent, I drop another drachma in and jump, appearing in the middle of Nic's living room. A boy, who looks almost exactly like me, lays sickly on the couch, shivering. Nic freezes when he sees me, swearing under his breath.

"Hey, Jace," he flashes a smile, "I guess this calls for an explanation."

He pauses and looks at the boy and then back at me.

"Alyx never died, apparently," he says, "He was just put through hell."

Amazinly tired, I don't respond and go to the mirror to find my face a sickly pale.

Apetite's gone. Not hungry. I tell myself, ploping down on the bed. I bring my hand to my forehead, and doze off.

I shake my head, not wanting to believe this. The boy looks at me, flashing a smile. There's no denying it. As kids, we were thought to be twins. Now, he looks almost exactly like me.

"Jace," Nic comes to my side, whispering, "you should leave. You said your father got you in trouble the last time. Alyx is sick. He's...If he's like you, you'll get it just as fast. Please, go home."

I glare at him, hating his logic. If he's like me... Dad'll claim him, right? He's not too old, is he? Knowing Rayah might have the answers and a little worried about her health at the moment, I nod and back up into the portal, dropping a drachma to take me to her house.

She's asleep once i get there, and instead of waking her I lay at her side and run my hand through her hair to think. My brother's alive...Ten years later and he's alive.

Someone sits at my side and runs a hand through my hair. I stirr and open my eyes, realizing my voice is gone. I can speak, just comes out scratchy. "Hey," I whisper. "Where'd you go?"

I flash a smile and run my finger down the side of her face, "I sneaked down to see Nic. It wasn't good there though."

I smile back and close my eyes for a second, taking a deep breath. "Hm?" I press my hand to my forehead. "Why-why wasn't it good?" I whisper.
