"Let's just start here," I said. "This is Deck Twelve Forward. It's basically the main hangout if you want to sit outside. The Captain's Cafe is out here, and sometimes they have chess tournaments, or the like.

"The pool's over this way," I continued, leading Lindsey amidships. "Nice pool; the water's never too cold...they sometimes play movies for the kids on that big TV screen, too."

Lindsey followed me inside, and I kept talking as we walked down the big staircase. "And here's the lobby. You saw this when you first came aboard. You can pretty much find everything from here. There's a big map down there if you ever get lost, and signs all over the place, too. Emma's Kitchen is that way, and the Wandering Mariner is over there. Emma's Kitchen is the informal restaurant, and Wandering Mariner's the fancy place. I would definitely recommend their cream of lobster soup."

I took Lindsey down to the rec room and the little club, and then back up to the bow. "That's all I can show you, I'm afraid," I concluded. "If I were working, we could go down to the engine room, but I'm not in uniform. I could probably arrange something with the captain, though..."

I smile as he takes me to all the places. I cannot get over how big this ship is. Everything looks so nice, so grand. We get back up to the bow of the ship and we stop. "That's all I can show you, I'm afraid," He says. "If I were working, we could go down to the engine room, but I'm not in uniform. I could probably arrange something with the captain, though..."

I smile and nod. “That would be great as long as it is not to much trouble.” I say. “Thanks for the tour. It was fun.” I say.

"No problem," I replied. "I'll talk to the captain about that engine room tour. What time is it?"

Lindsey looked down at her watch. "Almost five," she answered. "Why?"

"The first dinner's at five!" I exclaimed. "There's a schedule--your room's on Deck Ten, right? I think we're both at Emma's Kitchen--whoa!" In my haste, I slipped, and nearly fell right on my face.

I gasp as he falls. I extend a hand to him and he take it. I pull him up and cover my mouth. "Are you okay?" I ask. I notice I am still holding his hand and pull away. "Sorry." I say. "Oh and I am on deck ten." Saying trying to hide the pink forming on my cheeks.

As the ship continued to sail away from the dock I walked out onto the deck.
Time to have some fun... for once.
I tied one edge of the cord to my feet, (the way I learned how to in the Summer) and the other length to the side of the railing.
Then I climbed up onto the railing, letting myself hang there for a moment, breathing in the fresh air.
People start to crowd around behind me and I half turn around to watch them for a moment.
A boy, Simon, I think- if the report's were right is staring at me looking a little freaked out and holding tight to a girl's hand.
She look's about my age... probably a sister or something... She reminds me of something I used to know.
More people crowd around them, staring at me and a few of their faces seem almost familiar... probably from the passenger reports...
Then before they could reach out to me and stop me from jumping I turn back to the sea side of the railing and let myself drop, gracefully as is possible, into the sea.
The drop is absolutely exhilerating, just like it has been every other time.
Back on the boat people are yelling and rushing towards the railing all at once.
But they can't see me.
This makes them freak out even more.
I Undo the cord from my leg, swim over to the edge of the ship and begin to climb.
This is easy!
I hear my dad's voice sounding panicked as he walks towards the edge.
I hear him say something to someone, probably one of the officers and points at the edge.
I climb over the edge of the railing again and fall to the ship laughing.

Walking around the deck soon becomes a novelty to Simon and he's wanting to explore the rest of the ship.
"Can't we go to the rollercoaster? Or look in all of the other rooms? This is Boooorrrrriiiiiiiiinnnnnggggg!" He cries after walking around the deck once.

I'm about to answer, to tell him that I promised our dad that we wouldn't go to far on our first day on the ship, when a girl at the edge of my vision begins to climb up and over the railing.
Simon goes silent for a moment, staring at her.
There is strange type of rope is tied around her ankle and the railing.

Other people on the deck begin to crowd around, edging us forward.
What the hell is going on?

She turns back to us, to the growing crowd and just a second her eyes meet mine, a grin slowly crossing her face.
The she turns back and jumps.

Simon jumps back a foot, staring, horrified, at the railing.

Slowly, I, along with half of the crowd, move towards of the railing.

Why would she...

Just then a tall, slightly grey haired man, with features similar to the blonde aired girl who just jumped over the edge of the ship, walks out of a cabin opposite the deck looking a little more official then the other officer's In strange uniforms I've seen around the ship.

The Captain?

He says something to a man in a uniform and rushes over to the edge, panic plain on his face.

Then the girl falls back over the railing and onto the deck.

"Alysha?" The captain asks, his face white but his voice ringing with a sense of relief.

Her head turns upwards and she grins again, looking relaxed despite everyone staring at her.
EVERY DAY MIGHT NOT BE GOOD...
BUT THERE IS SOMETHING GOOD IN EVERY DAY.

Don't be sorry your darkness is gone. I'll carry it for you.
Always. I'll keep it with mine.

Gotta catch em all!

"Alright," I chuckled. "This was worth missing dinner." The poor captain--Alysha's bungee-jumping antics must have given him a heart attack.

"Have you ever bungee jumped before?" Lindsey asked me.

"No, I haven't," I replied. "I don't do so well with heights...not without a railing, anyway. Have you ever bungee jumped before?"

“I did it for a movie. It was the most horrifying thing I have ever done in my life. I was screaming the whole time.” I shake from the memory. “You could not pay me one million dollars to do that again.” I say.

The next day

My alarm clock started chiming at a little over 10’0clock in the morning and my eyes flickered open to find myself lying on the floor. Great… It was late… again. I got up, out of the mess of blankets on the floor and changed into my new bikini top that I bought yesterday at one of the many shops on this deck and a pair of my faded blue shorts. Then I grab my towel and headed for the door. The pool on the top deck where I had intended to swim is very crowded by the time I get there… Then I spot the Bungy Cord still lying near the railing where I left it yesterday.
Quickly I tie it to my ankle again and throw myself over the railing, enjoying the wind passing my face as I fall. It was a beautiful sunny day, the sun hitting the water perfectly, spreading light everywhere.
The water, crystal clear, was filled with fish and coral.
Coral? It can’t be coral…
This could be really dangerous. I have to get back to the ship now! Quickly I pull myself back up the cord, quicker then I managed yesterday and ran straight to my father’s room. “There’s coral! Straight ahead!” I tell him and see realisation of what this could mean before running off. Then the Alarms went off and for a second I felt kinda relieved I wasn’t that someone else had realised there was a problem.
Then I began running again. “Full Power,” I yell at the men in the control room, swinging the wheel to the left.
That’s when members of the crew begin to pile into the room and Dad starts yelling out commands.
“YOU GO DOWN BELOW DECK AND MAKE SURE WE DONT HAVE ANY PUNCTURES" he yells at one guy, Daniel… I think, and then he looks towards another guy, “AND YOU GO SEE HOW FAR WE ARE AWAY FROM THAT CORAL!"
The ship starts to turn, to gain speed away from the coral.
I look down at some of the charts, breathing a sigh of relief when I see we made it away with only minor scratches.
Then I walk off to the bar on the 2nd floor to get a drink.

I awake and already want to see Will. I really enjoy seeing him. I change into a sundress and slip on flip flops. Will is only a few doors down from me, so I walk over any knock on his door.

A moment passes and an alarm blasts. I begin to panic and bang on his door. I can hear my heart beat in my chest. “Will!” I call. A second later he grips my hand and we run to the top deck. “What is going on? What does the alarm mean?” I ask.

I was already up, but not really awake yet. I had thrown on a pair of khakis and the first shirt I found and was flipping through TV channels when there was a knock at the door of my room. I got up and strolled over to the door, fumbling for my watch as I went. What time was it, anyway?

That was when the ship's horn blew. I froze--the captain would never blow a ship's horn at sea. That was an alarm signal.

The person outside started banging on my door, jolting me out of my stupor. "Will!" That was Lindsey's voice! I sprinted over to the door, yanked it open, and ran outside, not bothering to lock it again. Without stopping, I grabbed Lindsey's hand and pulled her toward the nearest staircase.

"What's going on?" Lindsey demanded. "What does the alarm mean?"

"It means we've got a big problem," I answered. I threw open a door marked "Crew Only," and led Lindsey up the staircase to the top deck.

"Aren't we not supposed to be in here?" Lindsey asked.

"Technically, no," I replied, a little out of breath. "But I am a crew member. I'm just not in uniform." As we ran, I felt the ship shift underneath us--we were turning, hard.

At the top of the stairs, I held the door open for Lindsey, and then pulled her toward the bridge. "Captain!" I shouted. "What's going on?"

"Nothing," the captain said. He sounded rather tired. "Just a little scare with some coral. No damage, nothing to worry about." I nodded, and leaned over, trying to catch my breath. That was one of the problems with being short--I had to take more steps to get places.

The captain's next question caught me off guard. "Who is this?" he asked.

I followed the captain's gaze, and realized that I was still gripping Lindsey's hand. "Oh," I said, feeling my face grow hot. I dropped her hand and shuffled awkwardly to the side. "Sir, this is Lindsey. Lindsey, meet Captain Jones."

I sigh, thankful that the ship is not going to sink. I try to catch my breath from running so much. Captain Jones catches sight of me and ask Will who I am. "Sir, this is Lindsey. Lindsey, meet Captain Jones."

I smile and shake his hand. "Nice to meet you Captain Jones. This ship is amazing." I say.

"That it is." He says. Things begin to get a little awkward as I see him look to Will.

"Sorry for being up here. Will just saw that I was terrified and wanted to assure me every thing was okay." I say. I walk towards the exit. "Thank you." I say. I really hope Will does not get I this trouble for this.

A few hours later I’m sitting back in my room, wondering what to do now.
Then I walk back to the control room, watching as one of the sailors puts in in ‘Auto-Drive’ and sits back down watching the charts.
I nod to him, managing a smile and walk over to where my dad is standing with Will and some other girl.
“Hello Alysha,” Dad says nodding to me and turning back to the other girl, “This is my daughter Alysha.”
“This is Lindsay,” Will say nodding to the girl and I smile in turn, “Nice to meet you.”
Then my mind turns back towards the reef and I realise how much I feel like swimming right now.
“Anyhow,” I say to them, “I’m going to go swimming now.”
I turn to leave but then I turn back for some reason, “The water’s nice out… Do you guys want to come?”

I kicked off my sandals and jumped into the pool, being careful not to splash anyone. I sank to the bottom and sat there for a few seconds, enjoying the cool water. Then it occurred to me that Lindsey might think I was drowning (odd for a ship's officer, but still) so I swam up to the surface again.

I brushed my hair out of my eyes, only to be splashed again when Lindsey and Alysha jumped in. I floated there for a few moments, blinking the water out of my eyes, and then combed my hair back again before Lindsey and Alysha surfaced.

"Nice pool, huh?" I said to Lindsey.

He swims up just as I jump in with Alysha. I smile as I come back up. “Nice pool, huh?” Will asks.

“It is.” I say. “It is nice and cool.” I say going under the water. Will goes under also. I wave to him and he smiles, waving back. I swim back up, not wanting to leave Alysha out. “So your dad is the captain, right?” I ask, trying to create conversation.
