I could barely contain myself. I wanted so badly to tell Lindsey about Alysha's secret room, but I was able to keep my mouth shut.

"I should probably go check back with Alysha," I said. "And maybe the captain, too. A bookcase fell on her." Lindsey's eyes bugged out, and she followed me to the hospital, where a doctor explained that Alysha was being checked for a concussion.

I told Lindsey I'd pick her up later for dinner, and then went back to my room. What was I supposed to wear? I put on a nice shirt and khaki pants, but then started wondering if I should add a tie, or something like that. I looked through the clothes I had packed, and realized that I didn't have any ties anyway.

I eventually just stuffed my officer's uniform into a bag, figuring I could change into that if it was supposed to be a formal dinner. I stood out on my balcony, wondering when the doctors would let Alysha go. I had left a lot of the planning up to her, and I didn't want that bookcase to ruin everything.

Then I heard a knock at my door. Outside was Alysha, a bandage running across her forehead.

"Hey, Alysha," I said. "How's the head?"

I got out of my hospital bed and went to will's room , i knocked on the door , and will opened it , and said to me " Hows the head?" , I laughed a lil and said , " Fine , jeeze will are you wearing that! to the dinner? , OMG WHY IS THERE A MASSIVE PENGUIN IN YOUR ROOM!", I was on so much drugs , that i couldnt feel anything , and it made me hallucinate, " Will please tell me you brought good clothes?" , he sighed and said " No i forgot", I laughed and him and dragged him out of his room ,he had just enough time to close his door , we passed through some hallways , then went do 4 flights of stairs , and went into a room with " Clothes" scrawelled across it, and it was so huge it could of been a store to itself, I dragged will through the aisles of clothes , and finally we were at the men's formal clothes , I picked out a few and made him go try them on , I finally decided to make him, wear white , I also said to him " You look nice, and , the room is done , you will be sitting next to a window , with candles on the tabel , and some to show her the way to get there, and I have to go and see what she is wearing to this ..... dinner" , I dragged him out and back up to his room ,leaving him there and went and found lindsey.

He tells me he will see me later and I head back to my room. I think about it for a while and decide to look look nice this evening. I look through my closet. I pull out three on my nicer dresses and try to decide. “Purple, white, black.” I say as I move from one to the other. The purple one is about two inches above my knee with flowers going up the side. The Black is straight with lace on the arms. I go ahead and put it back in the closet. The white is a little puffy with gold detailing. I hold them both up and cannot decide.

I hear a knock at the door and pray it is not Will. I rush to it and see it is Alysha. I smile and pull her in gently. “How are you feeling?” I ask.

“Great. What are you wearing?” she asks.

“I cannot decide. Help me.” I say holding up the two dress. I give them to her and go get all my accessorizes. “If I wore the white I could where this gold flower and and my gold flats. If I wore the purple I could wear the diamond bracelet and black shoes. Either way I will wear these earring.” I say holding up the ones Will gave me. “I need help.” I say

As Alysha brought our food out, she stopped by my chair and whispered something in my ear. "Look after her," Alysha hissed. "If you hurt her I'll chop your nuts off."

"What?!" I screeched. Alysha just walked away. Lindsey raised her eyebrows at me, but I just smiled at her. I saw no need to repeat that comment to her.

"You look completely stunning," I said, probably for the third time that night. I knew I was repeating myself, but honestly, her hair looked like it came straight out of a movie.

"Thanks," Lindsey chuckled. "You too." I was wearing the suit Alysha had found for me. It didn't fit quite as well as my uniform, but it had the same tight jacket feel, so it didn't feel quite as weird as the shorts I'd been wearing before.

Lindsey and I chatted as we ate. I did a pretty good job of keeping calm, but really, my mind was racing. There was so much I wanted to say to her, but I was sure I'd screw it up somehow...

He told me I looked stunning for the forth time. I laugh once again. “Thanks.” I say. “ I feel like a barbie doll.”

He laughs. “Is everything okay?” He asks. “Does everything look okay, taste okay?”

I look around. “Looks great.” I take a bite of my food. “Delicious.” I say. “You worry to much, you know that right?” I ask.

“It is one of my many talents.” He says.

“Well don't I am enjoying myself.” I say.

“That is what I like to hear.” He is about to say something, but he quickly takes a bite of food.

“You are so quiet. Is there a reason?” I ask.

As I was about to answer, I hesitated, and then realized that I was only making the problem worse. I decided to just talk, so at least I'd be saying something.

"I'm worried that I'll say something stupid," I replied. "I mean, there aren't many places I actually feel comfortable, besides the helm of a ship. And I'm also worried about being too timid, because that's how I botched my last attempt at dating someone--" I paused, to make myself slow down. "And all this after you just told me not to worry--"

I set my fork down and kept talking despite myself. "I just get so nervous away from the water," I continued. "There aren't any gauges to check or any course corrections to make, and I can't feel the wind, and it smells like candles--don't get me wrong, I like the smell of candles, but I can't tell what the weather's doing--see? This is what I'm talking about. I have no idea how to say what I want to say--"

I laugh at him and smile. “What?” he asks.

“Nothing. I just like to laugh.” I say. “Come on.” I say blowing out the candle.

“Where are we going?” he asks.

“I am taking you some where.” I say.

“Where?” he asks.

“I can't tell you, it's a surprise.” I say laughing.

“Okay fine.” He says. I grip his hand and we go out of the room. We take the elevator up to the top deck and walk through the empty restaurant. We head out to the stern of the boat and hold on to the railing.

“See isn't this just lovely.” I say.

“That it is.” he says.

“You are so much more relaxed up here. How long have you been on the water?” I ask.

"How long have you been on the water?" Lindsey asked me.

"For as long as I can remember," I answered immediately. "My parents had a boat, and I took sailing lessons when I was a kid..." Lindsey nodded, and I didn't say anything else.

But then I caught myself being shy again. No, Will! I thought to myself. Stop being so quiet! Be...spontaneous, or something!

"Want to see something cool?" I asked Lindsey.

"Of course!" Lindsey chuckled.

"Okay, come on," I said. I took her hand and led her to a secluded elevator. It was small, holding three people, at most. I pressed the up button, and the elevator started moving, taking us as far up as it could go.

"Will, where are we going?" Lindsey asked.

"Up here," I answered. The elevator doors opened, and I led Lindsey out onto a tiny balcony almost five stories above the rest of the ship.

"This is the crow's nest," I explained. "I don't even know why we have this; no one really comes up here...but there's a great view." Above us, the Milky Way stretched from horizon to horizon, illuminating the deck below with its pale green light.

"Wow," Lindsey remarked, her eyes wide. Then she looked back at me, the ghost of a smile on her face. "I think I know what you were trying to say earlier," she said.

In a moment of panic, I started blabbing again. "Lindsey," I began, "it's just--I can't--"

"Shut up, Will," Lindsey said, giving me a playful smile. She leaned against my shoulder, and without thinking, I dipped my head and kissed her.

Lindsey

For a moment I am shocked, but then I kiss him back. Pulling away he smiles and I do to. “No offense, but my idea of coming out here was way better that the dinner.” I say.

He laughs. “Well it was my idea to come up to the crows nest.” he said.

“But it was my idea to come outside. There is not a crows nest inside. That would be weird.” I say.

He laughs and kisses my forehead. Smiling, I lay my head back on his shoulder. Yep, it is official. I really like this guy.

The first thing I did the next morning was run over to Lindsey's room. I knocked on her door, and then rocked back and forth on my heels until she opened it.

"Hey, Lindsey," I said. "I was thinking--maybe we should go see a show tonight? There's a musical every night."

"Sure!" Lindsey replied. "Which one is it?"

I thought for a moment. "I don't know," I answered eventually. "It's a different one every night. I'd ask the captain if I were you; he'll know. He should be out on the bow, if you want to go talk to him..."

“Sure, let's go.” I say. He grabs my hand and we go to the bow. It does not take very long to get there, but with all the people it is hard to see through the crowd. Will spots him and pulls me that way.

He smiles and Captain Jones nods. “Hello Will.” he says looking his way. “Lindsey.” to me.

“Hello.” I say.

“We came to see what show was playing tonight.” Will say.

He sighs as shakes his head. “There will not be a show tonight. Sadly the lead female got very injured when the floor fell and is not about to dance. We cannot find a replacement on such short notice.”

Will looks at me for a second and back at Captain Jones. “Sir, Lindsey is and actress and can sing and dance. I am sure she can do it.”

“I could never ask her to do something like that. Learn the dance numbers, song and lines all for tonight. To much work.” He says.

“No, sir I would love to. I can have it prepared in time if people work with me.” I say. “You can count on me.”
“I will make a few calls and see what I can do. I am just everyone would love to work with you. It is the most loved show by the whole cast.”

“What is it?” I ask.

“Everyone calls it oldies night. The whole cast learns dance moves from the sixties to the eighties and sings. They have done a great job. In the middle, the do highlight scenes from old movies.” He says.

“That is so cool.” I say. I try to contain myself and not flip out.

“There is the cast now.” He say. “Jay, Elena come over here please.” he says.

They come over, along with the others. “Yes, sir?” he asks.

“I think we have found a replacement for Amanda. It will be a lot of work, but I think it will be worth it. Are you up for it?” He asks.

He looks at me and I smile. “Of course. We will get you in the studio now. Come on.” He says.

I kiss Will's cheek. “Thank you so much.” I whisper in his ear. I look to captain Jones. “I will not let you down.” I say.

TIME LASPE TO THAT NIGHT

The casts gets into place and someone is fixing my make-up and hair. The first act is Grease and everyone is in poodle skirts and leather jackets. The give me a bottle of water and I drink about half of it. I am overwhelmed with excitement and nerves. Elena and Jay pat my back. “You are amazing. I have never seen anyone work as hard as you. No one else could have pulled this off.” She says.

“You got talent kid.” Jay says.

“Thanks. It is really fun, but when it is over, I am taking a three day nap.” I say laughing.

“One minuted till curtain rises.” someone yells.

“Break a leg you guys.” Jay says. They get into places and someone hooks a microphone up to my ear.

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to oldies night. You are going to get a taste of all your favorite movies, songs and yes, dances. Please turn off all cell phones and no flash photography. Thank you and enjoy the show.” The speaker booms.

The curtains rise and the lights strike my face. I see so many people in the audience. In just a few seconds, my favorite song from Grease starts to play in the back ground.
“Tell me about him Sandy.” Elena says to me.

I smile big and tilt my head down. “He is really nice, and sweet and handsome.” I say as Sandy.

The boys come on and our side of the stage blacks out. After they say their lines, the music comes up louder and Jay, as Danny, starts to sing. “Summer lovein, havein a blast.” he sings.

“Summer Lovin happened so fast.” I sing. The song continues and in the middle it breaks out into another. “Cause you got to cut loose. Foot loose. Kick off your Sunday shoes.” I sing. I am having so much fun and then we all start to dance. Spending five hours straight with nonstop singing and dancing is hard, but it was all worth it when I got up there. I move just like I have known the dance for years. This is going to be a great show.

Lindsey had such an amazing voice. As she danced across the stage, I started clapping in time with the beat, and pretty soon, the whole audience was clapping. Lindsey smiled out at us and did an improvised spin move.

The show ends after Thriller by Michael Jackson. We all take a bow when the audience starts to clap. I smile big once I see Will. The curtain closes and everyone relaxes. I go into the dressing room and change into my normal clothes and begin to head out to the audience. Most people have left, but a few are still there. Will is one of them. He smiles and comes over to me. “Great job.” he says. I give him a hug and lay my head on his chest.

“That was a lot of fun, but I have never worked out so much in my life.” I say. “Thank you for recommending me to captain Jones.”

"No problem," I answered. "I think he was really happy you could do it. The passengers are always up for a good show, so..."

"Good," Lindsey said. "How'd I look? Do you think people could tell I'd just learned the choreography?"

"No," I replied. "Not at all. I could barely tell. You rocked."

It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats—the hobbit was fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill —The Hill, as all the people for many miles round called it—and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on another.
