"I don't know what that means," I answered. It took a huge effort just to talk--I hoped my voice wouldn't be too garbled. "And I won't be going anywhere near the water; I can't really walk right now. Just make sure you don't--wait. How would you know what your clock's doing? Where are you?!"
"I'm in my room," Alysha replied, deadpan. "I went back to get some jewelry--"
"You did what?!" I was screaming by then, sitting bolt upright despite how sore I was. "You're back on the ship?! You know, it's miracle there's still air in your room, and if that thing shifts at all, it could collapse, and--"
"Just relax, okay?" Alysha interrupted. "I'm working on it. Oh, crap--"
"What?" I said. "What?!" But there was a burst of static, and the sound cut out.
I started fiddling with the dials, but a paramedic walked over and took it from me. "Look," he said. "I don't care how good you feel; you have to leave your oxygen mask on. And there's someone looking for you...you know anyone named Lindsey?"
