Contemporary Adolescent Development for Metahumans

You've been a naughty little child haven't you.

Whatever it is you've done, it doesn't matter anymore, or rather, it's the only thing that matters. Not necessarily the why you did it, although that's a large part, but really it's the how you did it that I'm interested in. How you, a simple teenager, acquired inhuman powers, and instead of rationally keeping it to yourself, or irresponsibly risking your life as a vigilante, decided to break the law. I couldn't care less if you're simply malicious, wrongly testified or just plain nuts, the bottom line is now you've got half a year with me to try and turn your life around.

Here at C.I.M.A, (Correctional Institute for Metahuman Adolescents) you'll be required to attend regular therapy sessions with me, Dr. Hartmann, as well as various exercises designed to both inculcate within you proper conduct of a...gifted young adult in society and allow us to...observe your unique capabilities to further...assist you in controlling your abilities.

Name: Mercedes Spring

Age: 15

Physical Description: She looks like a normal teenage girl, sweat’s, tank tops, sneaker’s, and a black leather jacket is what she usually wear’s. She also wear’s shades to protect her from more damage from her migranes.

All superhuman capabilities you are in possession of: She has migranes some really bad migranes, which is some belief of where her power’s come from. Shes unable to control her power’s, when the pain becomes bad enough her power’s come out to some huge extents.

Cause of Enrollment to C.I.M.A: Due to her being unable to control her power’s shes ended up killing some people, it was by mainly by light irration and annoyances around her, no one believes her that she didn’t mean to kill them, but no one beieves her.

Emergency Contact Information (Family description): She only has her older brothers (17 and 25) Ryan is stuck tere with her and Trey is at a university. There scared of her and what she has done but still try to be there for her regardless.

Name: Tania Wright

Age: 18

Physical Description: Tania is about average height, with a slim but athletic build. She has tan skin and a dark brown pixie cut. Her eyes are cinnamon brown, and she has a pretty smile. She usually wears nice button-up shirts and some sort of fancy jacket, with skinny jeans and knee-high boots. Her favorite shifted form consists of leopard legs, a black wolf tail, dragon wings, spiraling horns that sweep backward out of her hair, and her human head and torso.

Superhuman capabilities: Tania is a selective shapeshifter. She can change specific parts of her body into any corresponding part of an animal (including mythical and extinct animals). Except for her favorite hybrid form, she has virtually no control. She was bitten by an unknown animal as a small child, which is where she believes her power comes from.

Cause of Enrollment: While walking to school, Tania passed a house with a large dog. The dog sensed her power and was startled, and it ran out of its yard and chased her. In her panic, Tania shifted. She was near a busy intersection, and her shift scared several drivers and caused a five-car crash. Three people were killed, and when almost all the witnesses identified Tania, she was convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

Emergency Contact Info: Tania's mother died a few years ago, so she lives in the suburbs with her father and brother. Her brother is in middle school, and her father is a professor at a state college.

Name: Ryan Springs

Age: 17

Physical Description: Ryan has pitch black hair with a neon blue streak the same color as his eyes cutting across his bangs. His hair hangs over his eyes and ears but goes no further than his chin, uneven in some places. He's average height for his age, reaching about 5'10'', and appears very athletic. He prefers wearing dark clothing, which keeps him quite pale.

All superhuman capabilities you are in possession of: Artificial or natural, Ryan can both manipulate and mock the behavior of electricity. He is strongest at absorbing electricity from direct sources and turning it into his own personal energy reserve or becoming its conductor, but he can also take from the electromagnetic waves that float freely through the air. Though, taking too much can mimic a drug-induced high. As for mocking the behavior of electricity, he's not quite come to master this skill and often screws up. This being said, there are times where he disintegrates himself to reappear in another location but ends up completely invisible to the normal human mind because the particles of his being have yet to create enough static or ability to refract light. He's not certain where he got his powers, but knows that he has to reach deep within himself to fabricate the very basics.

Cause of Enrollment to C.I.M.A: He might of, kind of, sort of blown the fuse off a power plant, causing not only a city-wide blackout but the accidental injuries of thousands. He's not sure how severe the injuries were, but honestly doesn't care. He was shipped off without a chance to explain himself, if he would have explained himself... After all, he was only trying to get high.

Emergency Contact Information: Ryan lived with his older brother Trey (25) and his little sister Mercedes up until the incident. Trey's always known something was up with both kids but chose not to press them about it. That being said, he'll be there the moment he's contacted. Their parents died in a plane crash after Trey was accepted into Columbia University, so he's all Ryan and Mercedes have outside of C.I.M.A.

It's awesome that you guys are on board. I want at least five people before we start up, but if no one else has joined by the 26th, I'll start the story

Name: Emma Black

Age: 17

Physical Description: Emma has a lean body, has an athletic build. She has pale skin and electric blue eyes. From her mother’s side, she has long blonde hair with a couple streaks of black and brown from a dying accident when she was thirteen. A cute yet cocky smile, has a few freckles dotted around her face. When she was little she looked more tan, but once she figured out her power she stayed out of the sun more.

All superhuman capabilities you are in possession of: Emma has invisibility and teleportation. She runs out of energy quickly, very careful about that as well. She can’t drink soda or any other bubbly substance or her energy rate will become too high, leading her to a major energy-spasm type thing that risks her life. Teleportation can only happen when she has full-on game. She’s very good with her invisibility power, leading her to many ongoing experiments with herself. However, this is temporary. The longest she’s ever been able to keep herself invisible was about an hour. Any longer than that and again, she’ll loose her energy. She drinks H2O to boost her stamina, and that seems to be the only think that keeps her powers going.

Cause of Enrollment to C.I.M.A: When Emma was six, her parents fought physically instead of verbally and she had to live the life of being captive for about three more years. When she was nine she started cutting herself, depression took over and she didn’t know what to do. Her older brother, Jayden, Moved when he was nineteen and she was fifteen. As soon as that happened she tried to find the money to contain herself and started robbing local banks, houses. She figured out her period in that time-frame, invisibility really helping her at an advantage and teleportation helping her get inside places that were locked or chained closed.

Emergency Contact Information:Emma has an older brother, Jayden. He has a family though cares for his sister more than anything. Right now her brother is 24 and is married with three kids and a wife who’s never home. If anything happens, Jayden (Or “Jay” As Emma calls him) will come.

Name: Thomas Freeman

Age: Almost 17

Physical Description: Tom is basically a stringbean, tall and very skinny. He has the body of a sprinter, his muscles small and compact and his cheekbones very pronounced as he has almost no fat. He is African American, with coffee-colored skin and a very short layer of fluffy black hair. His eyes are black. He has two expressions: A serious look of concentration, or his entire face being lit up with a bright smile. Any other countinance is rarely seen. His left ear is just a bit larger than his right ear (his right ear has a piercing, though he no longer wears an earring there.) he wears a knee brace to cover the tattoo of a swear word that he got when he was 14.

All superhuman capabilities you are in possession of: Thomas can run at speeds of up to 55 mph, and has amazing agility that allows him to run through trees and down streets as easily as an open plain. He can also jump incredibly high. He has little staminaQuick spurts of running or jumping need only a few moment's of rest afterwards, but if he pushes too hard he will get exhausted and become listless for the rest of the day. He has no idea where his powers came from; he was able to sprint by the time most children were taking their first steps, so he guesses he was born with it.

Cause of Enrollment to C.I.M.A: Thomas managed to get himself in with the wrong crowd at middle school. With his friends egging him on, he pierced his ear and spent his days vandelizing cars and buildings. His favorite thing to do was spray-paint obsenities on playgrounds with the excuse of "teaching them about how life really is." A few times he was convicted of arson but managed to get away with community service. His behavior continued until he was 16, when he got arrested for a D.U.I . Someone suggested a youth group, and Thomas was suddenly and passionatly converted. He became an enthusiastic Jesus fan and abandoned his prodigal ways, though he still has a lot to learn about Christianity.
One day a ten-year old boy was hassling his sister for her ipod. Thomas, enraged though he had been very rude to girls before, rammed into the boy at 30 miles an hour. The boy was hospitalized with several broken bones and head trauma. As he already had a record, he was sent to the C.I.M.A. He is deeply ashamed of everything he has done and never brings it up.

Emergency Contact Information: His parents divorced when he was 12; his father lives in a different state, and her mother is very busy with her business carreer. She feels bad about being gone so much and having her two children be fatherless, so she lets Thomas do whatever he wants. Tom also has an 8-year-old sister named Judith, and he thinks the world of her. He's glad he was sent away because now she won't have him as an older brother.

Ok, now that we gave five people on board, I'll upload the first schedule of activities, as well as roommates (I'm thinking two pairs and a single) on the DT.

With hopefully more people signing on, I'll add new activities and roommate assignments. I'll probably make the first story post Thursday night, just to give some more time for people to enroll.

Name: Cecil Ernest

Age: Sixteen

Physical Description: Average height (5’10”), husky. Sandy brown hair kept short but shaggy, blue hazel eyes. Pale-skinned. Tends to wear hoodies or flannel with ripped up jeans and thrift store sneakers, no matter if he, at a point, had over two million dollars. They took it, though. Of course. Wears a black ring on his left hand’s middle finger and a silver on the finger to the left. Has both ears pierced with stainless steel studs and a black dragon tattoo up his back.

All superhuman capabilities you are in possession of: Forgery is his main power. He can basically copy any signature, painting, etc. He has an extreme eye for detail, which causes him to be obsessive compulsive and easily distracted (or far too focused). He also has a lovely dose of “vampirism”--in return for bloodlust and an anathema to seemingly most things he used to love, he hasn’t seemed to age much. His facial hair is moving at the speed of a glacier (he’s decided he’s okay with his current stubble, though--it looks like a man’s, at least). He’s less likely to get hurt and he’s stronger. Faster. (Think Cal from Peeps. If that works for you.) He’s not sure how any of it works. He always had a hint of OCD and ADD as a kid, they put him on Ritalin (which he’s now off), but it wasn’t until he was attacked by a homeless man walking home one day (to wake up in a field, he might add--but dressed and with only some bruises and scrapes) heightened everything to the point he’s at. (The vampirism is probably adrenalin and a fetish showing its color. He doesn’t know that.) Otherwise, the first sign of his extremely specific memory was when his father died--war veteran, committed suicide in the bathroom. Cecil found him.

Cause of Enrollment to C.I.M.A (Please try to express your whole opinion of the act which caused you to be assigned to a session at C.I.M.A, including motive, history and all felonies committed, either by you or other parties involved): Cecil is a special case. He’s slippery and unassuming. For a while there, he was writing fake checks to help his mom and sister with the bills, pretending to work at a supermarket bagging groceries. Just enough to get by. And if the water works company “forgot” to bill them or such, wasn’t that lucky? Then he got cocky. And greedy. He made himself enough to get two people through a decent college and then took to forging paintings--famous paintings. He got away with black market deals for a while, until his mother found some of his unhidden money, declared him a drug dealer, and kicked him out. This sort of sent him into a downward spiral. The bloodlust, which he’d been managing by hurting himself whenever it arose, was let loose and he was arrested for stalking and assaulting one woman and killing another--the latter thing something he claims he didn’t do. He’s playing the lamb, but the only thing he doesn’t like is somebody thinks he’s a murderer. He’s a thief, sure, and maybe he should’ve gone to a vampire theme club or something for a drink, but so what? The girl will be fine. He barely took a pint. But that other woman? He didn’t touch her.

Emergency Contact Information (Family description): Mother--Georgia Ernest, 30s, brown hair, brown eyes, sweet (in a Southern Belle sense--often not so sweet), works as a maid. Sister--Amber Lee Ernest, 6, curly sable hair, hazel eyes, intelligent, has ADHD. Father--Steven Ernest, tall with curly black hair, died at 26 (deceased), honorable discharge from United States military then substance abuse and finally suicide.

C.I.M.A Registration Form

Name: Nina Alanders

Age: 14

Physical Description: Average height, and average build. Se has plain, straight brown hair, and a slightly tanned complexion. The only significant thing about her is her piercing, bright green eyes.

All superhuman capabilities you are in possession of: Control over all the elements (fire, water, that kind of stuff). So far, only basic control. She can't create or destroy them, she can only control what' already there so far. Strong emotions also cause her to lose control (lash out and stuff) Use also physically drains her, though she has found that she can build up her stamina fro her abilities with training.

Cause of Enrollment to C.I.M.A : In an act of anger, she accidently set a building on fire, creating two casualties and one person dead. The autorities originally thought the cause of the fire was her lighting a match and setting the wood on fire, but the C.I.M.A on further inverstigation discovered thet supernatural events were involved. Nina accepts that she did wrong, but feels going to C.I.M.A is a bit over the top.

Emergency Contact Information : Nina spends most o her days wandering the streets, dong odd jobs for people here and there. She does have an old, but slightly psychotic mother to go home to, but she prefers not to as their relationship is rather rocky. Nina looks very similar to her mother. The only real difference i her greeneyes which come from the estranged father that she has never met.

Sorry for the late start; I spent the weekend at a friend who doesn't have an internet.

Day 1- 8:30 AM - 8:45 AM

"Welcome to C.I.M.A, children" The lady's voice travelled over the plain room, gnawing into the ears of the seven boys and girls standing in it's center. They wore traditional orange prison clothing. "As you understand, the purpose of this facility is not to contain you, but to rehabilitate you. Together, we can overcome the attributes you possess that make it...inconvenient for you to function in society. As you all know however, the first step in solving a problem is assessing it. Therefore, in addition to the completion of your registration form you are required to demonstrate the full extent of your abilities to be recorded by our staff. You will be split up into your room assignments and handed over to a doctor. You will then demonstrate your metahuman capabilities, or powers to be blunt, for record keeping. The assessment will last until lunch at 12:15. This will be the same for the next week. Your afternoon activities will be announced at lunch"

"Mercedes and Emma, you will be going with Dr. Ellensworth"

A stern looking, pale woman dressed in a lab-coat approached the two children. A pair of iron spectacles were jammed onto her narrow face, which was bent in a permanent scowl. Her dark hair was chained up in a bun, and her bony hands clutched an electronic clipboard with several charts being holographically projected from it. She nodded at the two girls and led them through the west door.

"Ryan, Cecil and Thomas, you shall be with Dr. Lane. The three of you shall be divided once you reach the boy's wing. Ryan and Thomas, you shall remain together and Cecil shall have his own room."

A portly, red-haired man with a casual stance strode over to the two boys and shook their hands, revealing a broad smile. He stood shorter than the both of them, almost twice as wide. His thick beard covered most of his face, and in his sweaty, large hands a greasy e-clipboard projected several charts, but also a paused game of minesweeper. He led the two boys through the east door.

"Tania and Nina, please follow me"

The shockingly tall woman, Dr. Collins, confidently turned towards the west door with the two girls in tow. Her blonde hair hung loose, surrounding her long face.

Mercedes

I look straight ahead as my migrane hit's again, not as bad as usually is but still hurts. I go with this Dr. Ellensworth not exactly trusting this guy. Which was understandable to a point. But without my brother, I felt insecure and wanting to be with him as we go though this, god damn it Tray what happened to you? I move though the hall with this Emma girl as we finally reached a large room that some could say was a gym. I try to keep from looking directly up in fear of making my migrane already worse than it was.

"Mercedes do you want to start first?" He asks.

"No, I don't even know what my power is. And I don't even know how to use it at all." I said.

"Nonsense, please step up and try" He insists.

I take a deep breath and do so but I don't know what to do, I take off my shades slowly and put them in my jacket pocket. I had to nearly shut my eyes unable to handle to full blunt of the light. As I try to think of what to do, I try to start off with a multitude of thing's, but none of them work. Dr. Ellensworth shakes his head dismissively while writing down notes, I get off relieved to finally be done as I put my shades back on, soon Emma is up there as I patiently wait to see what she can do.

Ryan

I watch Mercedes leave before following the man and two others out. Their names honestly don't stick with me and I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to do any of what they want. I'd never tried using my abilities; they'd use me.

We reach a gym, and I groan. P.E. was something I absolutely hated about schooling. This brings all those memories and feelings right back.

"Alright, let's start with..." The doctor looks us over, then glances down at his clipboard, "Ryan. We'll start with you."

I stare at him for a few moments, trying to process this. Seriously? I have to go first? Sighing, I step up to where I guess I'm supposed to be and shake my hands out, listening to the crackling in the air. Great. First day in a neon jumper and I'm the first guy to humiliate themselves. It's like tenth grade all over again.

I try and relax my mind, focusing on something, anything. Before I know what I'm doing, something fizzles through me and forces me backwards into a wall. All I see is blinding light as I try to keep my head from spinning off my shoulders.
