Someone screams and I jump up with the Hiddens, following them out. The boy is slaughtered right before them, leaving me a little shocked. Nephil loses it and strikes the man down, screaming at him before slitting his throat.

I touch his arm and he turns to me, pulled out of his rage. He drops his sword as the tears begin to fall and I don't know what to do. His knees give out and I follow him to the ground, hesitating before hugging him. I flatten his palm and sign into it.

Nothing happens without a reason.

Mince jumps up and cries out. I bolt to him and keep him standing.

"We have to go." He whispers.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"During the fight, I placed an non-harming flame on Nephil, and it lets me know where they are. One of them just got murdered. From Nephil's reaction, it was Mark. I believe they may either come after us, or Mark's killer will come for us," He explains.

I swallow and look at Tori before picking Mince up and bringing us back to camp.

"Let's go! Everybody up! We need to move now!" I order.

I turn to Mince.

"Rest, bud." I tell him. "I'll carry you until we get somewhere safe."

"M-My sister's with them," Tori cried, her tears finally spilling over. "W-What if..."

"It's okay, Tori," I said, touching her arm lightly. "Your sister's fine. I can see her. She's right over there." I pointed off into the forest, where the bright shape of her sister was standing. There was still a spot in my vision, from Mince's fireball, but I could see her, and the subtle signature of Mince's non-harming flame on Nephil.

"Mark's the only one who got killed," I said to Trevor. "And the other guy, of course, but he's not a Voltage."

"Let's go! Everybody up! We need to move now!" Trever ordered everyone. "Rest, bud." Trever said to me. "I'll carry you until we get somewhere safe."

I nodded weakly before shutting my eyes. I began to shake, cause when I closed my eyes, I saw Mark's brutal death. My eyes snapped open and Trever was looking at me worried. "I saw Mark die," I whispered.

Twila-
I'm completely still. Mark's dead. How is that possible? Why? What point did this awful man have to prove? Whatever it was, it's mute because he's dead now too. I feel like I'm breaking in half and melting at the same time. I've never felt such anger before, such pure hatred.
I scream at the top of my lungs, swiping my arms through the air, I send a boulder into one of the crumbling buildings. Melting to the ground, I let a sandstorm start up around me. I hold my hands over my ears, still screeching, as I sink to my knees. The dust falls, settling on and around me. I let out one last, anguished cry, then bring my knees up to my chest and weep silently.
For the first time, I long for my tiny room again; where I was safe and alone. Where I knew no one and no one I knew died.
When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people.

Twila was taking it as bad as I was Zaen held me as I cried, for the first time in a long time I had shown weakness. A weakness no one has seen in ages, but after a time I finally stood up and recomposed myself leaving Zaen's embrace I nod a thank you to her and then turn to Twila, she was a wreck. But I suppose I was to, I walk over to her as she was still sniffaling from her crying. I get down on one knee right next to her.

"Come on, let's go find those loyalist dogs and make them pay, we'll secure Zaen sister. And then were going home and giving Mark a funeral he deserves for his service." I said.

"Mark's the only one who got killed," Stella tells me. "And the other guy, of course, but he's not a Voltage."

I nod.

"Let's still get a move on," I say. "Who knows what they'll do next."

Mince closes his eyes as we begin to walk, Simon towing our bags for us. He begins to shake and I stop, letting the others go ahead. His eyes open and I wait for him to explain, worried.

"I saw Mark die," he whispers.

I swallow and nod again.

"It's alright," I tell him. "You don't have to close your eyes if you don't want to. Just rest a little."

Twila flips out as well and Nephil stands, nodding his thanks. I nod back and look down as he goes to comfort her.

"Come on, let's go find those loyalist dogs and make them pay. We'll secure Zaen's sister, and then we're going home and giving Mark a funeral he deserves for his service." He says.

I look up at him, worried.

What did they do? I sign. I want my sister back, but why must they pay?

"You don't have to close your eyes if you don't want to. Just rest a little." Trever tells me before continuing.

I lost control of the flame on Nephil and it vanished. "We need to hurry," I told Trever before Coughing. That was when me and Trever both seen the blood.

"Something's wrong with Mince. He's coughing up blood now," he said to the others.

"That's a sign that something is wrong with him. It's a bad sign. He needs medical attention," Stella said.

Twila-
I nod, standing up shakily. Zaen starts signing to Nephil. I think I catch 'sister' and 'money,' but I'm not sure. I dry my eyes and, while Nephil is signing an explanation to Zaen, I find the boulder I threw earlier and start forming a tombstone out of it. I carve his name, Mark into it, but I don't know when he was born or what today is, so there's not that much else I can put on it. After some thought, I etch his mark, a seahorse, onto the stone. I don't have much time, so it's not as intricate as I'd like it to be, but it's enough for now. Once I'm finished, I walk back, but I just can't go near where Mark died, so I lay the tombstone next to the remains of the building.

"I see Zaen sign asking why they must pay, I swallow because of the horrible history between the Loyalists and Hidden's. But I reluctantly begin to explain.

"The loyalists, they made an attack on the Hiddon Base a few weeks back, they took the lives of those who defended the base to the bitter end. They took the lives of not only the defender's but the lives of people who were suspected to be Loyalist sympathizer's. And a certain loyalist took the life one dear to me, they took Twila's parent's in a different raid in another state, that's why. That's why I need to make them pay for the blood they had spilled, That's why I'm going to kill the loyalists we have in front of us now and get your sister back." I said in a soft tone.

"It's because of them we lost so much." I said curling my finger's in front of me.

Mince coughs up blood and Stella confirms how dire the situation is. Unable to think of what to do, I set him back on the ground, motioning Simon over, and prop both our bags behind him.

"Does it hurt anywhere else besides your leg?" I ask. "'Cause if it's internal bleeding..."

I don't finish, swallowing. While in wait of his answer, I signal for everyone else to stop. Simon and Nikki take the southern watch, while Stella and Tori take the north. I look back at Mince, hoping things weren't as bad as they seemed.

Nephil explains as Twila disappears somewhere.

I swallow and look down, not sure how I feel about any of that.

"It's because of them we lost so much." he adds.

I say nothing in response, silently stating my submission to his command. My sister is my priority. After I am reunited with her, we will deal with things.

I heard a coughing noise behind me. Spinning around, I saw Mince doubled over, coughing up blood.

"Does it hurt anywhere else besides your leg?" Trevor asked. "'Cause if it's internal bleeding..."

"Here, let me take another look," I offered. "It's probably from when the second tree fell."

I stepped to the side, and switched my vision to x-ray frequency. There--the injury jumped out at me right away.

"Mince, you broke two ribs, on your left side," I reported. "One's out of place. You probably punctured a lung."

Two broke ribs and a punctured lung. There's no lying about it, I was dead weight.

"Go on without me, I'll try to slow them down,"I said.

I shake my head at the diagnosis, looking away as I thought of how to help him. If we can get him to the mortals...

"Go on without me. I'll try to slow them down," Mince says.

I look at him, my expression incredulous.

"No," I say. "No one's leaving anyone behind. You'll be fine. We're too far from home to get back in time but we can get you to a mortal doctor or something and you'll be fine."

I nod, trying to make him believe it as much as I am myself.

Everything happens so quickly. Mince doubles over and coughs up blood. Then I remember what do to.

"Trevor, he needs more fire in him. Hes lost too much energy and that gave away his power. Maybe I can help?" I ask, kneeling next to him.

"It'll help him keep up with the others." I say.
