"It's nice to meet you, too," I say. I reach out my hand and he shakes it. "Do you know when class is going to start? Jack might get a little restless," I say, completely changing the subject. "Sorry in advance." I grin again and try to shut my mouth.
"Oh. So I guess you wouldn't be able to help me to my classes," I say. Then I smile. "The blind leading the blind." I laugh. I'm not sure if my blind jokes are funny to anyone else, but I love joking about it.
I take out my Braille directions and run my fingers over the familiar bumps. I can feel Nic's eyes on me. I can almost feel the pity emanating from the smile on his words. "It says 'Honors Chemistry II," I say. I have a feeling I'm not "looking" in his direction so I shift a little. Jack tenses but I pet his head, surprised to find another hand there, too.
He watches her, slightly saddened, but realizes that if anyone should feel that it should be her. Since she isn't, he buries the feeling and decides that she's no different because of it. "It says Honors Chemistry II." She says, shifting. Her hand lands atop the one he has on Jack's head and he blushes a little, gently removing his hand and setting hers back on the dog's head. "Sorry." He flashes a smile, looking at his schedule. "But I have that next too."
I'm never what I like I'm double sided And I just can't hide I kind of like it When I make you cry 'Cause I'm twisted up, twisted up Inside
I grin. "Then I guess it's not really the blind leading the blind," I say. I don't want Nic to think I'm being melodramatic so I shrug. "Who's the teacher?" I ask. "She never mentioned her name."
What a piece of work is a man! How noble in reason, how infinite in faculty, in form and moving how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god -- the beauty of the world, the paragon of animals! — William Shakespeare
