Vercingetorix

From a makeshift podium in the mess hall, hidden by red curtains, I surveyed the new batch of students through a gap. Some were pretty exotic - I could have sworn I spotted a kitsune in the midst - while others were pretty powerful, namely two dragons and a daughter of death.
Well, nothing for it. As headmaster, a speech was necessary each year.
I decided to build up the tension. I had little power - full moon was in around a week - but I certainly could create stage effects.
I made the lights gutter out all of a sudden. The murmur of the students ceased at once. Then I caused the temperature of the room to drop all of a sudden, icicles forming on the ceiling and frost crawling up the sides of the wall.
Then I strode out imperiously. I snapped my fingers, and the area behind me was suffused in a hellish glow, just barely lighting up my features in what I hoped was an ominous way. I certainly had the looks to pull it off.
"Welcome to Half-Breed Academy," I said, beginning my speech without further ado. "Let me make this short and to the point. My name, for those of you that haven't heard of me before, is Vercingetorix. Our highly capable staff will do it's best to teach and train you... many great protegees have been produced from this school, which I founded more than several thousand years ago. But," and at this I projected an aura of fear into the room. "Misbehave, and I will not hesitate to inflict punishment. I expect the maximum respect from you. Good day," and with that, I turned on my heels and strode away.

After I hear the speech I walked over to the room calandar thingy. I strode down to my name. 64F was my room and I was rooming with a girl named...Izabel Ohashi.

I scanned the rooms as I went and found the room. I opened the door and found a girl sitting on the left bed, un-packing her stuff.

I snapped my fingers and her eyes flick to me. "Listen. Here are the rules, no waking me in my sleep in a result I will burn you with dragon fire. No going through my stuff, no curfiews, and no telling me what to do. Got it?"

She nods quickly and I flash a weak smile. "Good." I say. "Hopefully you'll get on my good side..." I muttered, sitting on the side of my bed.

Miss Wirestone

Miss Wirestone's lips thinned with displeasure as the students filed into the mess hall. Several had visible abnormalities, which needed to be rectified. Vercingetorix appeared with impressive accomanying guttering torches and a significant drop in temperature. The students froze and paled at his speech, which stressed discipline. Miss Wirestone approved of the latter, but the former was unnecessary in her eyes. Still, she did not question the headmaster's motives.

The students chatted (much too loudly) over lunch. Miss Wirestone seated herself at the staff table and started a conversation with the PE teacher, Roth Wayatt.

My first option of Zoey.... interesting. I had a feeling this was going to be a fun year. Even as I finished unpacking, we never said a word to each other. It's almost like we knew that we were trying to figure the other one out.

Right after I was done, they called all of us to the main room for the opening ceremony. Following the crowd, I found that we all ended up in one giant dining room. People were pushing and shoving for spots. Seeing an open one, I simply sat down and waited.

Not everyone was settled down when suddenly the light went out. Suddenly, it was dead silent and then the temperature started to drop, causing icicles to form. I could feel a tingle make it's way up my spine and I found my eyes drawn to a man that had appeared at the podium. He snapped his fingers and an eerie glow appeared, making him seem almost like a shadow.

"Welcome to Half-Breed Academy. Let me make this short and to the point. My name, for those of you that haven't heard of me before, is Vercingetorix. Our highly capable staff will do it's best to teach and train you... many great protegees have been produced from this school, which I founded more than several thousand years ago. But, misbehave, and I will not hesitate to inflict punishment. I expect the maximum respect from you." and then he left.

The light automatically came back on and when they did, there was food on the tables. Everyone dug in, not even hesitating. As I ate, I came to realized that I was very curious to know what exactly Vercingetorix was. His presence didn't seem like anything I'd ever felt before.

Suddenly, I heard someone say something to me. Shaking my head a little, I focused on who the new person was.

When we were briefed by the headmaster- a rather spooky character, but I decided to stay on his good side to avoid trouble- all of us half-breeds were dismissed to the mess hall. I was next to a mermaid half-breed, so I nibbled on chicken out of respect. "So who in your family is the mermaid? My mother was a dragonologist and my father was a dragon. My mother raised me right and often mentioned my father fondly. To Mom, my father was the kindest dragon she's ever met. His species were rumored to be so clever, no one could catch them. How I was conceived, I'll never know."

I sat alone only drinking tea. It was orange blossom and dragon fruit and I sipped it quietly approving the taste. It was almost close to faery tea but not quite. I noted people looking at me strangely. I had my hood up it was an old habit. In the court children no matter who were to cover their faces and not show themselves. Not even the Headmaster had been able to stop it though he tried often in vain. True Vercingetorix scared me but he truly cared about this school and the students. He often would fight to keep a student if the parents wanted them to be removed if the training wasn't completed. He was one of the few people in this school who had my complete respect.

(Great going guys! But I'm not sure how a Dragon and a Kitsue would get along, though I have never heard of a Kitsue at all! LOL!)

Morgania Phoenixa Jordan

Merlin and I both had fire powers so from what we could guess, we might have fire proof rooms! And roommates! I couldn't believe it! I was actualy sharing a room with another girl! In my excitement, my phoenix wings started to appear. I didn't notice until I heard a scream and then Merlin tapped me on the shoulder and said "Your a bit too excited again. Your wings are showing and are on fire."
"Oopsie daisies!" I cried in alarm as I put my wing 'away'.
"Morgania, you seriously need to work on your powers." Merlin said.
I looked at him and replied, "Speak for yourself. Your dragon tail AND wings are both showing."

Merlin Dragonis Jordan

I looked at Morgania in alarm. "WHAT!"
She started to point at my back when my tail (seeing as it appears to have a mind of it's own) went and hit me in the face. YOU TEME! I thought in rage.
"MERLIN STOP IT! YOUR BURNING ME!" Morgania cried when I opened my mouth to breath. It turned out I had reached the fire breath stage in my transformation.

"Who's that guy? Vercingetorix I think. I have a bad feeling.." I said in a whisper.

Miss Wirestone

Miss Wirestone heard a scream and her head snapped around, hand to her belt. A girl had sprouted fiery wings, but beside her, a boy had developed dragon wings and a tail, which slapped him through the face as he turned to look at it. Miss Wirestone stood furiously and strode over to their table.

"You're burning me!" the girl shrieked as the boy opened his mouth. Without stopping, Miss Wirestone picked up a jug of water and upended it over the boy's head. As his tail swung around, she caught it and pulled hard. It disappeared into his body when she released it, like an elastic band snapping back into position.
"That is more than enough from you, mister," she snapped. "Back to your dormitory."
She snatched the girl's arm and inspected the burn wounds.
"Come with me. You need something on that arm." The girl struggled to keep up as she swept out and led her to her classroom, where she opened the medikit and applied an ointment to her arm.
"Name, please," she said brusquely.
"Morgania Phoenixa Jordan," the girl gasped.
"You are to see me again tomorrow morning before breakfast. And I do not want to see such an exhibition again, do you understand?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"You may go back to lunch."

Next was the boy. Miss Wirestone found him stuck in the doorframe of his dormitory room, where his wings had caught. She briskly folded them in and sent him reeling into his room, which was specially fireproofed to avoid accidents.
"This kind of behaviour is unacceptable!" she snapped.
"I didn't—"
"You are to remain in your dormitory until dinnertime."
"I didn't mean for that to happen! I didn't mean to burn my sister!" he cried, then blanched as he realised that he was shouting at a teacher.
Miss Wirestone raised an eyebrow. "Oh, then you would be Merlin Dragonis Jordan. In that case, I have signed you up for extra personal tutoring five times a week with me after school. More details will follow. You will continue with these lessons as long as I see fit. Good day to you."

Miss Wirestone returned to lunch and continued her conversation with the new teacher as if nothing had happened.

The Headmaster's speech was very.. interesting. I knew that this school would be much different than a human public school. I sat in the mess hall next to a Dragon Half Breed.

While eating a piece of chicken he began talking, "So who in your family is the mermaid? My mother was a dragonologist and my father was a dragon. My mother raised me right and often mentioned my father fondly. To Mom, my father was the kindest dragon she's ever met. His species were rumored to be so clever, no one could catch them. How I was conceived, I'll never know."

"Perphaps we'll never know. Anyway, my mother was the mermaid or so the orphanage said. I don't know either of my parents but the ladies that worked at the orphanage said I look a lot like her." I played with a fry that was in my hand and flexed my webbed fingers letting it roll across the thin webbing.

"Who's that guy? Vercingetorix I think. I have a bad feeling.."

It had been my new roommate, Zoey, that woke me from my day dream. It took a second for my mind to back up to speed, but once it did, it processed her question.

"Vercingetorix? Oh, he's our headmaster." I reply with a slight smile. "and your right, his aura feels strange." I mutter the last part to myself. I could feel another conversation starting, but before she could say anything else, lunch was dismissed. We'll talk later, She mouthed in my direction.

I nodded back to her to let her know that I understood and then she vanished. Everyone seemed to be walking there own way, almost like they knew where they were going. "I wonder where I go now?" I muttered to no one in particular.

I fiddled with my food. "That's awful. I don't know much about my father. In fact, I never seen him in my life. My mother's parents hated me for being born out of wedlock, but my mother didn't care less about that. As far as I can tell, my father hitailed it out of my mother's life the second he had." I stretched my wings a little, then forced them back in. "My mother sent me here to harness my abilities as a dragon as well as perhaps breaking me of my hoarding habit. Like a natural dragon, I hoard anything shiny. It's more of a curse than a habit in my opinion." I finished eating, leaving a fish on my plate that was untouched. "Although I like fish, I rather not eat fish in front of a mermaid like you. It's out of respect for your kind." I went to my dorm and sat down on my bed. I knew better than to disrespect a mermaid, half-breed or not.
