Zoey Marsh

I packed everything I had. A notebook, a book, a few pens and a water-bottle for my "flight".

I stretch my wings and roll my shoulders, sighing. Ever since mother has died things have never been the same around here. I flew off in my dragon form
And soared through the sky. I got to the camp and landed...Hard.

"God I gotta work on my landing." I turned to my human form and "sheathed" my wings, grabbing my bag and walking to everyone else. I sighed and sat, only to see there was another Dragon half-breed here too.

I looked up, when the girl next to me asked a question. "What half-breed are you?"
I flexed my webbed fingers. "A Mermaid,"
I couldn't wait to get off the bus as it halted right outside the school gate. My body was too dry and it was beginning to become uncomfortable.

I sat up front of the bus with my twin, Merlin. We had to be sent here for the same reason, we kept on setting the house on fire. Me and my phoenix father have both gotten that problem. Though dad wasn't a full phoenix, he still could control his powers.

Students streamed from the bus and Miss Wirestone waited for everyone to get off before starting. A second year student nearly fell out of the bus in her hurry. She wore a highly ostentatious cloak. Miss Wirestone did not approve of cloaks and her eyebrows lifted a fraction of an inch. The girl, Antonina, gave her a mocking smile as she walked past.

"All new students," Miss Wirestone thundered, "gather round. Old students, you know what to do."
The first years formed a small clump in front of her, some eyeing her nervously. After reading the register, Miss Wirestone continued, "You are to be divided into dormitory rooms according to gender and abilities. Please follow me."
She swept into the school building, ignoring the whispers of the students scurrying after her.

"This is the mess hall, where lunch will be served at one, that is in four hours. Please note that special dietary requirements have already been evaluated and dealt with."
She turned and exited the room. The students, who had fallen silent, started whispering and scurrying again.

"The girls' dormitories are on the far side of the passage, the boys' dormitories on the near. The allocation of roommates can be found on the noticeboard in the common room through the portal on the left in the middle of the passage."
Some students started repeating the sentence under their breath with puzzled expressions.
"In other words, over there." She pointed.
"Modifications to your rooms have already been made according to your specifications. Timetables and school maps are in your rooms. If there are any questions, please ask Mister Star in room eight, or me in room twelve. You have leisure to explore until lunchtime."

No one knew why I wore the cloak as far as the teachers were concerned it was a sign of defiance. As far as they knew my wings were distended. I stopped and then quickly walked to Ms. Wirestone's class as the other students pushed past. I knocked and she barked out enter. I walked in and she looked up her face full of displeasure. "Ms. Wirestone forgive me I am not trying to be defiant. I have to wear this cloak because of the fact that I'm not a full faery my wings don't distend and when someone bumps into them it hurts quite a bit. So please don't make me remove my cloak." I said quickly before she could say anything. "Goodbye." I added and then ducked out taking my things to my room.
"You are without a doubt, the worst pirate I've ever heard of."

"But you have heard of me."

@ Barefootrunner: I'm not a student, I'm a supply teacher. :)

Kerran

I combed back my smooth brown hair, humming a particularly catchy tune I vaguely remembered; as to where I originally heard I could not recall. My white trainers were silent as I strolled down the long corridors, register in hand. I was due to participate in the welcoming ceremony to the Academy, and I had to wait in the courtyard at the front of the magnificent building for the coach containing the undoubtably eager students to arrive. From what I had seen, the mood and regimes were relatively lax, students were chaotic and noisy, but often fell silent when Miss Wirestone braced them with her prescence. The woman was rather intimidating, her stature and even tone of voice showed an obvious dominance even over myself, I always acknowledged the cold sweat that broke out on the back of my neck when I addressed her.

"Speak of the devil..." I mutter, as I notice her walking towards me. "Hey, Emily" I call as she begins to walk past me. She stops and abouts.

"Yes?"

There's that sweat again... "I was wondering, when the students arrive, will I take them to the main hall or show them to their dorms?"

Obstructed by fear.
Under guises of jovial chatter;
Incredulous hopes
Steadily feasting away-
Eating away at my heart.

Zoey

After Ms. Wirestone introduces us to the school I step next to a guy that seems he is also a dragon. I didn't know why, but somehow I felt more safe near my own species. I saw a girl with a cloak knock on Mis. Wirestone's classroom door and I swallowed.

She's gonna be a hard teacher to impress...

I turned to the dragon half-breed next to me. "Hi, I'm Zoey. You?" I ask, holding out my hand.

Alen

I was waiting for something I didn't know what I was but it was to be here at 7:55 AM but it was not. I felt the wind come up from the water it stung my green eyes and was cold on my pale skin. When the bus finally came I got on and some of the girls where looking at me and whispering to who they where siting with. I could not blame them I was hot I found a empty seat and sat there until we got to the school when I was getting out someone ran into me she had white tails. I was thinking "what a pretty hot creature I have found myself."

The person that ran into me turned around quickly and then stopped. I could feel his eyes on me and then chills crawl up my spine. Suddenly, he stuck his hand out and gave me a lopsided grin. "Hey, names Alen. I'm half Gryphon and you, my friend, must be a Kitsune."

Gently, I reached out and took his hand. "You would be correct on that." I say with a smile. "Oh, my name is Izabel, but most people call me Bell." After our little introductions, the teachers started to move the group along. Alen ended up walking with me throughout most of the tour of the school.

"What year are you?" He asked me casually.

"This is my first here. Last year I went to an all human school. Let's just say I hope this is better than there." I let my smile slip for a second and then come back. "So Alen, what year are you?"

Hope I did okay with Alen. If I need to change ANYTHING, just let me know. :)

Emily Wirestone

Miss Wirestone settled into her chair and allowed Argus to hop onto his perch.
Only the first hour and so many problems already, she thought. She decided to ask Ronald to pay special attention to the Nina girl, smiling as she remembered her rushed excuse, and mentally marked Alen for some rigorous discipline. The boy had a particularly obstreperous look. She had answered his question with a curt "Perhaps if you had sent a more comprehensive report of your abilities, we might have been better able to match you with a partner."

The new teacher, Kerran, definitely needed some orientation. He had been very confused as to the acceptance ceremony. This could only be because the headmaster had failed to explain it properly. Kerran would have to be present at the ceremony at lunchtime, of course, in the mess hall. She tutted under her breath.

What is Your Mythical Creature: Manticore
History: Roth started out as a rugby player for his county until a shoulder injury put him out of action. Desperate to continue a sporting career, he took up teaching PE in a public school until, at the age of thirty, he fell ill with cancer and was submitted for radiotherapy. During the process, exposure to radiation reawakened dormant sections of his DNA inherited from his manticore great-grandfather. Roth began to mutate, growing a long, scorpion-like tail and shaggy mane. Horrified and ashamed, Roth fled, eventually being accepted into the half-breed academy as a PE teacher after a stint in rehab for drug addiction and alcoholism.
How you got sent to the academy: After a drug-fuelled spiral into crime and poverty, Roth was admitted into rehab. Upon recovery, an interview was set up with the academy's headteacher. Roth was awarded a position, and has remained since.

Alen bid me farewell and then walked off, disappearing in the crowd. I watched for a second as he went, trying to decide what I thought about him. Shrugging a little, I figured that was something I could figure out later.

After a couple seconds, I manged to get make it to the bored that listed where our rooms were and who we were with. Scanning it, I found my name in seconds. Tracing it over I found that I was in room 64F with a girl named Zoey Marsh.

Pushing my way back through the crowd, manage to find a sign that led to rooms. Following them I came to long hallway with door on each side. Other students were bustling in and out, as well as talking to each other. Slowly I walked down the hallway, scanning each room as I went.

I stopped when I reached my room. The door was opened, but there was no one inside. Cautiously, I stepped in and looked around. It was beautiful inside these rooms. Surprisingly they were actually a decent size. Both beds also had windows over them, probably to keep people from fighting. Figuring that it didn't matter much, I picked the bed to the left. Placing my things on the bed, I started to unpack.

Miss Wirestone finished feeding Argus and placed him on her shoulder again. The Welcoming Ceremony was to take place in ten minutes. She swept out and joined the supply teacher, Kerran, who was walking down the dorm corridor and reminding everyone about it. Immediately the students quietened down.

"The Welcoming Ceremony is in ten minutes," she snapped. "Please dress properly, as the headmaster is to greet you." She swept on, students following her and her colleague in droves to the mess hall.
