Elsa-
I held Jayden's hand, staring into his eyes. Jayden was worried, so something must be up. But I really don't want to think about any troubles right now, I just want to think about Jayden's hand in mine and his eyes watching mine. I move closer to him.
"I love you," I say, kissing his cheek.

Jayden

Elsa scoots closer to me, breaking my thoughts with her presence, and kisses my cheek.

"I love you." She says.

I look her in the eyes, for the first time in front of her speechless, and I know that it's sincere. My heart skips a few beats, trying to catch up with my racing emotions, and I take her face in my one hand, kissing her.

"I-I love you too, Els." I whisper, my forehead against hers.

"I-I love you too, Els," he whispers. My heart flutters faster than it does in my bird-form. Every cell in my body, every atom in my bones, long for Jayden and belong to him. I lean in to kiss him again...
Before our lips meet, someone turns on a tv and I jump at the sudden noise. Jayden takes my hand
"It's okay," he says, but he's staring at the tv, his golden eyes darkening. A reporter talks about the destruction by some strange beast.
"Jayden?" I whisper, trying to hide the tremor in voice, but unable to.

She leans in to kiss me again before the T.V. before us turns on. Elsa jumps and I take her hand again, comforting her.

"It's okay." I say.

My eyes lock on the T.V., the knot in my stomach growing at the sight. Chicago...in pieces.

"Jayden?" Elsa whispers, her voice slightly shaky.

I break away from the screen to look at her, swallowing back my own emotions.

"It's alright." I tell her, setting my free hand behind her head and stroking it with my thumb. "We're safe for now."

Just not for long...

"For now," I sigh, leaning my head against his shoulder. He puts his arm around me and I feel safe again.

If I could go back in time and tell the old me that I would be sitting peacefully at Blighton's base one day, without some secret plan to destroy them simmering in my mind, I would have laughed at myself.

In Chicago too, nonetheless.

Yet, here I am, bandaged by said person and sitting awkwardly at the edge of a couch. I think I remember this couch. It still has the same brown patch stitched on to the left arm from when Laiel accidentally clawed it open.

"The rest of the shifters are in Mexico, right?" I said warily.

I eyed the way Adrian looked and Blighton and vice versa. Are they...in love? How much did I miss while I was locked up in Gale's creepy dungeon?

"Yeah," Blighton murmured.

When I finally landed and arrived at the airport, the beautiful city of Chicago was...to understate it, a mess. I had my duffle bag, extra jacket and old backpack with a worn out canadian flag stitched on to it, ready to 'explore the world,' like my Ma said.

I was devastated. How do I find my way around now?

I looked at the digits scrawled on my left and and walked to the nearest pay phone. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a wad of change, both american and canadian coins. Picking out a few shiny american ones, I inserted some in the slot and dialed the number.

Tapping my foot impatiently, I pulled on my collar nervously. I wonder what kind of guy he was.

The phone connected.

"Hello?" a young male voice crackled through the phone.

I gulped and said, "Uh...hey, this is um...Cameron. You're Blighton, right?"

Diablo Draco | A village in Mexico

The others have tried their hardest to cheer me up, but I felt like someone jammed a dagger through my heart and left me bleeding where I was standing. I returned my gaze to the bonfire where my father's corpse was losing flesh and bone was left behind. I mustered my courage to shift full dragon and keep the bonfire burning so that there was nothing left of my father but ashes. Jet after jet of dragonfire kept the bonfire ablaze. After ages of keeping the fire burning, I shifted back with tears still pouring down my face. Once the fire was put out, my mother and I gathered up my father's ashes and put them in a large jar.
My mother embraced me for a moment, then gave me an envelope of some sort. "Only open it whenever you feel ready, my son. Your father and I kept it close to us since you vanished. Bear your dragon form as a symbol of justice and honor."
I stored the envelope in a bag that once belonged to my father. "Voy a hacer que te sientas orgulloso, madre. En aras de la padre." I hugged her with tears still falling down my face. I didn't want to lose my family too soon, not after I just had been reunited with my parents. I reunite with my parents, only to lose my father on the same day. It was a sad way to have a reunion, which left me with a heart so broken and bleeding it was like I would never be healed.

Norm -

After I got out of the office building, I rushed walked back towards my apartment because it hadn't quite sunk in that I could be killed at any second. I saw people breaking into stores while looting, people in cars dodging pedestrians and other drivers so they could get out of the city, and children refusing to leave the city because their parents left a cat back at home or something. At the same time a giant....snake(?) thing with wings was hovering over the city. I noticed this odd site and picked up the pace.

When I got to my apartment building, I saw that the entire place had been turned into a pile of rubble. The only thing that defined me as a person (other than my resume, which is no bigger than a small napkin) was gone. Sure, it was lined with crappy discount furniture, and I was sick of the place cause my jackass neighbor, Ted wouldn't stop stealing stuff out of my fridge; but it was my place, dammit.

The reality of the situation had begun settle in.

GASP This sb was actually on the 3rd page. Remember when this was always the top 3 or so and had about 10+ posts a day?

I squinted at Blighton and then at Adrian, wondering why they were both so...solemn.

"...Why?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.

Blighton just glared and Adrian looked at me with sad eyes. She seemed ready to blurt out whatever tragedy that seemed to have befallen the mexican shifters when Blighton's phone started singing.

He frowned, but answered it anyways. "Hello?"

I discreetly scooted over to try and eavesdrop, earning another glare from Blighton. I just smiled back and continued to lean closer.

"Uh...hey, this is um...Cameron. You're Blighton, right?" a faint male voice rang through my ears. Cameron...Cameron...why did that name sound so familiar?

Diablo Draco | A Mexican village

I put the jar of ashes in the bag and walked away to mourn in peace. I was hoping to have a proper family reunion with my parents, but having to lose my father just after I met him was a terrible burden on my shoulders. Tears fell from my eyes greatly. "¿Por qué tengo que perder a mi padre después de que acaba de reunirse con él? A reunion is supposed to be happy, , but not like this."
Someone spoke of trouble in the United States. Something about a creature called a leviathan.
I wiped my tears and held myself tall. Time for mourning is over, so I must be a strong man for my now-deceased father. I kissed my mother goodbye and shifted full dragon. It was time to go to war.

Alright, I hope Bookworm doesn't mind me taking over and getting this SB back on track, we'll have to make up Blighton's lines as we go.

Skylar - Chicago

I wake with a start as I see a Black Dragon land on the hill some feet away from me, some people dismount the dragon, I try to get up but only fall back to the ground. I had forgotten about my still wounded leg. I see the people looking out to my once glorious home town that was now left in ruin, I see the dragon get smaller and smaller until he was human again. He sees me and caususly walks towards me.

"Hijo de una vaca, cosa que sólo está de mal en peor." I curse in a whisper.

"Stay back you, you thing!" I cry to him.

Other's take notice of me as they see the guy walking towards me.
An angel, a knight, a man who will bring light to where there is only darkness, I am the Morning Star, the Bringer of Light, hail to me as I am King Lucifer!

"Why?" Hunter asked, and then Blighton's phone went off. He walked away to answer it. Therefore leaving me to answer her question. She started to lean towards Blightons conversion, and then she looked like she was trying to think of something.

"Well," I started to get her attention. "When we were attacked that the last base by Gale, they managed to get me. Diablo flew off with everyone on his back. I guess that he took them to mexico with him." I said while shrugging.

Suddenly, the static on the television vanished. The camera that was still reconding caught a large shadow flying over the sky. That was Diablo and if was he was there, that means the rest of the shifters are too.

After he got off the phone, I caught hold of his shoulder. "We need to get to Chicago." I state. He nods and looks at Hunter and me. "Any idea's?" He questions.

"I say we just start that way and then plan it by ear." Hunter answers while shrugging.

Blighton does not respond for a minute, but then he nods his head. "Okay, let's go." He says while we all head out the door."

I approached the wounded joven cautiously. "Mire, señorita. No queremos ningún problema. None of us are here to hurt you. I promise you, we will not do anything to harm you." I recalled what she whispered while I was coming. "Usted habla español a ti mismo?"

Jayden | Chicago

Somehow, Diablo gets us all to Chicago. On the ride, I hold onto Elsa's hand anxiously. She looks just as worried as I feel. I try and comfort her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and leaning her against me, but fear it's not enough.

Upon landing, we come across another girl who reminds me of Diablo. I stay out of things, keeping Elsa with me, and let the dragon handle it. Nothing to be involved in yet...

I look at Elsa and kiss the side of her face, moving my arm to set around her waist.

"You okay?" I whisper.

It is only a novel... or, in short, only some work in which the greatest powers of the mind are displayed, in which the most thorough knowledge of human nature, the happiest delineation of its varieties, the liveliest effusions of wit and humour, are conveyed to the world in the best-chosen language
