Draco Pacis | His old cottage

I almost wanted to remind her that I vowed never to go back to the castle, but then I remembered she found it as a home because the king took her in. Although I didn't want to go back, I knew I had to if I were to be with Brooklyn. I got on my feet and caught up with her. "I'll go with you. I'm going back for you, not for the king. He doesn't know I once fell in love with a human girl, but I don't want him to know that. It's best he doesn't know about Sarah." I hooked my arm to Brooklyn's waist, easily keeping up with her.

I smiled. "You don't have to come. And I won't tell King Charles, Promise." I laughed.

"Draco, You still love her don't you." I turned to him.

I admitted, "Yes, which is another reason why it's hard to let her go. I don't just still love Sarah, but I also still miss her even after forty years. Every year since she died, I had to lock myself in my room to cry in private when her birthday and date of death comes around." I sighed. "Sarah was an only child and a treasure to me. All I have left of her besides her picture was a necklace that she bought for me the night of the accident." I showed it to Brooklyn. "I once told Sarah that I loved garnets in my human life, so she paid for this and was about to head home when a drunk driver collided with her car head-on. She gave the necklace to me just minutes before she took her last breath. After I attended her funeral, I decided to carry out her legacy by thinking the same way she once did."

Brooklyn|castle

A tear ran down my cheek. "I'm sorry." I smiled. We got to the castle. I walked in and The king saw me. "Brook!" Draco came in behind me. "Draco?" He walked towards us. "So you decided to come back?"

I'm going to leave you two alone. To work this out. I sent Draco a mind message and started walking to my room.

I watched Brooklyn leave, feeling a little nervous on talking to the king. There might be a chance that I might be falling for Brooklyn the same way I fell for Sarah, but I wasn't sure. I took a breath. "I had some encouragement. I'll stay, but on one condition. I want some extra time between duties. When I first took the job, I had very little time for myself except twice a year. Some extra time between duties is all I need. Nonstop work isn't healthy for someone who has my kind of thinking."

King Charles| Castle

"Draco, I will not force you to stay, you were right before the castle is not your home. You are free to come and go as you wish. If you want to you may go to the preserve, take young Brookly if you wish. Just know that if you do I want to leave as friends."

Brooklyn|castle

I closed and locked my door. I changed into a tight tank top and shorts with red lipstick

I unlocked my door and lay on my bed. I rested my arms on my stomach and closed my eyes. After a while I walked back out to where the king and Draco were talking. I stood next to King Charles. "I'll be...outside." I pushed through the doors and climbed the hills. At the top of one I sit down and bring my knees up to my head and put my head down. I thought about Ben, the guy who changed me. I thought he loved me, I guess not. I started crying, I've never told anyone about him but I felt like I needed to around Draco.

I got up and ran to a small house, on the side of the lake, where Ben changed me. I walked inside and my stuff was still there. I wen't out onto the lake sand and I sat down looking out on the sunset. I wished Draco was with me, so I could wrap my arms around him. I sighed and put my toes in the water. I started to hum a song me and Ben used to always sing together. I pictured Draco right next to me and I smiled.

I sensed Brooklyn was upset. My empathy power always was a give-and-receive kind of power which most vampires couldn't understand. "I know it's long overdo, but I offer my deepest condolences about the loss of your mate. My only wish to you as a friend is to carry on her legacy so her memory will last." After that, I followed Brooklyn's sorrow to her. I sat down beside her. "I sense you're upset. You don't have to tell me why or how I know you're upset. I can sense emotions the same way as I could change them. It's a side-effect of my empathy power."

I smiled. "Nah, this place just brings back memories.." I looked around. "When I was human." I trailed off and another tear ran down my cheek. "I miss him so much but, he never really loved me." I wiped my eyes. "He said we would be together forever." I buried my head in my hands. "And now I don't even know where he is." I almost broke out into tears remembering him. I rested my head on Draco.

I set her on my lap and held her in my arms, letting her cry on my shoulder. "I know how that is. The vampire who turned me was so beautiful, I almost fell for her like I fell for Sarah. Of course the vampire who turned me was only using me for her own pleasure. It was a nightmare. After she turned me, she left me to rot. I haven't seen her since the night I was turned, but I didn't bother pursuing her because she probably hated me after the process was over. She thought she could use me for a toy until she got tired of me, which was when she turned me." I sighed. "I've forgotten her name, but I call her Siren because she sang and acted like a siren."

I smiled, "B-Ben was amazing..." I frowned after that. "But then my friend told me he prays on girls like me and he was just trying to get closer. I didn't listen to her and I should've." I wiped my eyes. "It was too much to give up. I couldn't give him up. He was too special. He told me that I was like a dream and that I was the most beautiful girl in the world and Then at night, he changed me...then left me." I started crying even more, the picture of Ben twitching in and out of my head.

I let her cry on as I sat there with her on my lap. "I guess we had more in common than we thought." I rubbed her shoulder. "We both were used as mortals, then ditched after we were turned. I never thought the two of us could ever be so alike." I kissed her on the forehead before I could stop myself.

I smiled. "I guess." I looked out onto the lake and wiped my eyes. I've never told anyone about Ben. Never. But it felt okay around Draco. I stood up and put my toes in the water. I remember that Ben used to always push me in as a game and I would always chace him afterwards. I put a strand of hair behind my ear.

Draco Pacis | With Brooklyn

I stood up next to her for a small while, then walked off into the marsh. I found a water lily and picked it up. Once I returned to Brooklyn, I snuck the lily on her head. "After Siren left me, all I wanted to do was find a place to fit in among vampires. It was after I met Sarah when I found my calling as a peace-maker. When Sarah died, I still kept her legacy alive by following her teachings. Even after the queen's death, I still thrive to make peace."

"How do you do it? Keep calm like that..." I frowned. "All anyone's ever wanted frome me was my powers. I can heal by touch, my eyes change color by mood and I can read minds." I smiled. "I don't use them often though." My eyes were blue right now, I was calm and upset. When I get mad they turn red and when I'm happy they turn pink or purple, when I'm in love they turn green and when I have no emotion it's just my natural eye color, brown.
