Hey sorry for not posting for so long. I spent the better part the week winter camping (e.g. digging our way out of the snow covered tent) and still kind of feel like a walking zombie so don't expect too much of this
Rain started to pelt down on us as Lazarus and I oh so patiently waited at the door. Curiosity was beginning to kill me though I didn't want to risk my life anymore than I already have. Subconsciously rubbing my still-attached neck, I thought about that smile he made and tried to suppress a shudder. It was hard to tell if it was the type that should make one feel welcomed or feel the need to run away.
I shifted from one foot to another as I uncomfortably tried to look occupied. I cleared my throat unprofessionally and rasped, "Its Blaze Carver, by the way, not Blake Carter."
His jaw muscles tightened slightly, and from the corner of my eye, I saw his hand twitch just the slightest. Rubbing my neck a little harder, I let my hand stay there protectively.
"Of course, Miss Carver, I apologize for the misunderstandings," he said cooly with a faint smile on his lips.
Another shudder rose, one I could not hide.
Just when I opened my mouth to make a snappy retort, the light went on inside and soft footprints could be heard walking to the door. My heart jumped and fluttered in anticipation for the face that would peek out from behind the door soon.
The handle turned slowly and light shone from open door. Surprise and just a bit of confusion crept up my spine. The face staring back was awfully familiar...
Blatantly I glared at the figure in fron of us and yet again ignoring all proper etiquette, I spat,"It's you."
I cocked my head to the side and almost accusingly said, "The one who turned me."
